  Can I assume that you use a parallel cable to connect the printer to the computer.  If you do this is a known problem that can be solved.  Go to Device Manager and then click ports.  Double-click the lpt for the printer port, and then click on device settings at the top.  Change the default setting of the middle box checked in the box below to use any available interruption. I would also check the legacy down.  If necessary, turn the computer off and then turn it back on, but most of the time this solves the problem without a reboot.

• Cannot print anything in color, except for the ink-jet printer test page

  All prints black and white with the exception of when I print a test page for the printer itself (Dell v313).  Had no problems with it.  I called Dell and they want $129 to 'fix' my Windows problem.  No errors.  Have full ink cartridges.  Also recently installed drivers and firmware for the printer, thinking that might solve the problem.

• Text field scrolling fixed height that develops when printing?

  Hi all

  I came across this before, but for the life of me I don't remember: ideas for what is required to set a text box so that the height is fixed and used scroll bars when it overflows the text box text, but on the printing of the document, and then expands so that all the text is visible and will be printed?

  Recently updated iMac Core 2 Duo Intel Mac OS 10.4.11 to 10.6.2.  Was to put in place the new queue for the printer HP LaserJet 4100DTN printer as previous communication was via AppleTalk.

  This issue seems to affect to any HP printing multiple attachment envelope feeder. There is a work around using Tray 1 manual feed, or for a simple envelope print job: selecting expanded dialog printer "Paper feed" and select "first Page since: envelope feeder"... it works fine if you ned envelope that only! but it's such a shame that 70 envelopes charger fails to make more than one.

  If someone else has a better solution please post!, I use a HP P4015 on HP laserjet P4515 driver because there is no driver of the 4500 series even with the latest updates... hmm that job...

• HP 2606dn: Toner everywhere

  When you share my 2605dn clean mirrors to restrore the red colors, I put my printer on the side, with the cartridges still in place. Now that he's back together, the printer does not print anything other than a mass of black toner.   You may have two separate issues here.

  You are supposed to remove the toner before expanding the printer, since you haven't you need to remove the cartridges and shake them the same way you would before installing them to redistribute the toner because now it's at one end of the cartridge.

  Second, if you get a solid black page it may be a problem with the lines of the black laser scanner control. I'd start by double control system all flat cables that plug into the scanner. Check to be sure that the metal contacts on the end of the cable came not on the spot by commas if there you may be able to reposition delicately and gently reinsert the cable.

  Is the driver for the installed printer previously visible in Device Manager?

  Check if the previously installed printer driver is visible in Device Manager by following the steps below:

  Step 1: Right click on the Start icon and select Device Manager from the window.

  Step 2: Expand the printer driver and verify if you are able to find the printer driver installed previously.

  Step 3: If the installed printer driver previously not visible, expand other devices option and check if you are able to find.

  Step 4: If it is visible, right-click on it and click Uninstall or disable the option.

  Step 5: Restart computer and check if the changes are effective.

  Unfortunately - uninstallers most are poorly maintained and leave behind pieces - probably more than the entries in the registry.

  You can uninstall Windows Movie Maker if you wish.  After all - it was installed with Windows Live Essentials or similar.

  What about Java - you or something that you have probably installed - if you mean Java Runtime Environment (JRE), the web plugin.  You can uninstall too - see what breaks, and install the latest version, if you want.

  Regarding the sidebars and gadgets - as long as you have disabled, I would not do much more with them.  Although - you can uninstall them also, at their base.

  Going to Panel of--> all items in Control Panel--> programs and features to uninstall first - things that you don't think you need or do not want.  I would be careful here - many things settle because your video card and software device driver need them or some other component, its application in car, etc, that was installed required him to function and there is no NOTE of that, nor is it part of any warning that removing it will be that break.

  Note that the registry cleaning will probably do very little for space, nothing for the performance of the system and is a risk.  It's just for your own information, you would do this, the benefits being almost strictly mental.

  For the most part - it is better for most of the people that they don't mess with what is installed and worry no more space on their disk unless it starts to become very low (less than 15% for small disks of 80 GB to 160 GB or less and less than 20-40 GB for the disks in this size (, IMHO.)  A little cleaning in the wrong place can have disastrous consequences and any application or individual tells you that they can guide you 100% securely through a cleanup of this type without seeing themselves - is probably play on your need to clean top and hoping for a good result * the best *.

  Network discovery is a network setting that determines if your computer can find other computers and devices on the network and whether other computers on the network can find your computer.

  There are three network discovery States:

  * Off

  This State prevents your computer to see other network computers and devices and prevents people on other computers on the network to see your computer.
