  I hope that you unplugged the iMac before cleaning. Make sure that the iMac is reconnected.

  I checked the specs on the Web from Toshiba site and Satellite U400-12F has Intel GM965 chipset. According to the specifications of the chipset you can check on the Intel page, the maximum RAM capacity is 4 GB (2 GB in each slot).

  Sorry, but an upgrade to 8 GB is not possible, but usually 4 GB should be enough. ;)

  Unfortunately there is no specific info on the upgrade of the HARD drive, but it is SATA HDD, which means up to 400 or even 500 GB should not be a problem.

  I advise you to buy a 300 GB HARD drive and I think it will be more tan enough to upgrade the HARD drive.

  Yes, the VGNFS742W has a door under the chassis to access the RAM.  It's the door in the Middle under the station's docking port.

It was not long before, but since the installation of the new operating system, the performance is terrible. For those of you who might argue that having an external SSD as drive of the master computer probably the origin of the problem, remember that the computer worked perfectly well at least a year like this.

  I enclose below two screenshots with the record of my iMac. I also ran EtreCheck and I enclose the report below.

  I would be really grateful if you could help me solve the problem. My MacBook Pro mid-2009 (2, 66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB of RAM, internal SSD) is much faster than my iMac that makes no sense to me.

  Uninstall the malware CleanMyMac you installed according to the instructions of developers. Then restart in Mode safe mode then restart normally and test. Mac OS requires no cleaning, antivirus or ANY third party maintenance apps to function well. If simply left alone and updated most Macs will work well for years.
