For me specifically is not a file of 4 gb, but the files just randomly with mkv in them. I havn't exactly tested to see if it has to deal with the size of the file or not, but I can tell when I open 2 GB files, they work fine. I say this because I can open a file with a mkv which is a little more than 2 GB and explorer.exe not crushed. Here is the info I get from event viewer.

  In this thread the poster informed origin as "haali splitter" caused the problem. Looks like some programs non-Microsoft is the origin of the problem. We recommend that you check if a non-Microsoft program is the cause on your computer.

  To do this, try the following steps:
  a. open the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
  b. Article, follow "step 1: perform a clean boot" the implementation of these measures will disable all programs not Microsoft currently running on the computer.
  c. restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

  I have these three questions of program after reinstallation of Windows Vista and tried (mostly unsuccessful) using Windows Easy Transfer to move and reinstall my programs and files. My computer had some problems before start, (it would be almost always gives me the blue screen at startup and go into Startup Repair). The Startup Repair wouldn't fix anything and just lose about 20 minutes of my time. Finally, he wouldn't even load at all and the Startup Repair did not help so I decided to reinstall Windows Vista. It worked perfectly until what stupidly, I decided to try and use Windows easy transfer if everything goes well "to" my programs this new copy of Windows Vista.

  So now my questions are: Windows Media Player 11 does not open. I don't see a thumbnails of videos that would open with Windows Vista either. Oddly, although I can use Windows Media Center very well. I also installed Quicktime player and it seems to work perfectly.
  It was not catastrophic but especially a gene. I use VLC player to manage most of my videos very well, but love using WMP before.

  Stop DW.

  Find the folder-

  C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
  8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
  (these files are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > tools >)
  To view the Folder Options)

  and delete it.

  Restart DW. Works better?

  Don't you think it's because I have little Ram? I looked up on this subject, most people just say to make things of course are up to date, but I'm OCD to make things of course are updated now, and it didn't help a bit.   I have windows 7 Home premium.  Windows media center I have used for about 1 year.  All of a sudden the program crashes when I try to open a folder containing the videos.  When I try to open a file, it works.  Will not open a folder where the videos are, unless I have stop and restart WMC.  Any ideas?

  You may experience this problem if the data store is corrupted. So, try to rebuild the Media Center data store.

  To do this, follow these steps:

  i. take exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.

  II. delete the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:

  %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB

   

  To remove the file, follow these steps:

  a. click Startand then click run.

  (b) in the Open box, type run, and then click OK.

  If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

  (c) in the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome and then click OK.

  d. in the details, click pane right mediacenterdatastore.dband then click Remove.

  e. click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.

  f. restart the computer so that the changes take effect after you perform the steps.

  g. launch Windows Media Center.
