Export documents within an InDesign book in a single PDF file

I have several documents within an InDesign book. Is there a way that they can be exported in a single PDF file?

Here is the script I use:

    for (var i = 0; i < data.chapters.length; i++)
       {
            show_list.children[0].selection = i; show_list.show ();

            DocName = data.chapters[i].name;

            app.open (data.chapters[i], false);

            f = new File (data.chapters[i].fullName.replace (/indd$/, "pdf"));

            app.pdfExportPreferences.pageRange = PageRange.allPages;
            app.documents.itemByName(DocName).exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, f, false, data.preset);
            app.documents.itemByName(DocName).close(SaveOptions.no);
       }

The script will export to the PDF format, but each document is a separate PDF file.

Any HEP would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • OfficejetPro 5800: How to scan a document multi-page into single pdf file?

    Recently, I switched from Windows XP to Mac OS x 10.9. I installed the software OSX version for my OfficejetPro 8500/909 a printer. The only way to analysis seems to be scanned in jpeg format. I have not found a way to scan a document of several pages in a single pdf file. Can someone tell me if this is possible at all?  Thank you!

    Hi Thomoos, I can certainly help you with that.

    You can open the analysis option in system preferences and analyze the many elements from there.

    1. Place the item you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load in the ADF (ADF) documents, if your printer has one.

    Hello Reddij,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

    I understand that you are unable to scan multiple documents in a single file. I'll do my best to help you and to solve this problem. First of all, I need to know what your operating system on your computer? Click here to discover: Windows or Mac?

    I would recommend performing this step of your computer, the HP software. It is much easier to achieve. Please follow this document HP How to digitize. Click on your appropriate operating system, and then click "how to scan multiple pages into a single file. You will notice indicates: (digitization of additional pages is supported at 300 dpi or less.)

    1. Place a document on the scanner glass, and then click Scan your computer.
    2. When the preview scan appears, click the Plus sign ( ) on the left side of the window to scan additional pages. If you do not use an ADF, you must load the next page of the document on the glass of the scanner to add to each additional page.

    I would like to know how your progress. Impatience on your part.

I have just recevided a PDF with 70 documents into a pdf file so I wonfder wht program should I buy instead of this joke. I f I only 12 pages, it is not a problem to send in the form of documents in an e-mail as I repeatedly, doen. The pdf file must be exactly for those who need to send a large amount of files in a pdf file that is easy to live. Anyone out there who knows if I can change my pack to the one I need?

    Thank you

    Monica

    Hi monicaf5812809,

    The Pack of PDF from Adobe allows only to combine 12 files at a time, but you can batch convert and then combine these files more wholesale/combined as needed.

    The other option is to use Acrobat, which does not impose such a limit, because processing takes place on your desktop and not via an Internet connection. If you want to try Acrobat, you're welcome to-you can download a 30 day trial of http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

    Hi pjj,.

    When you open the Bookmarks pane (the second icon from the top in the column the leftmost in Acrobat), you will see a bookmark for each file that has been attached to create the PDF. If you have created the combined file from Acrobat.com, however, file names are changed, it won't be as easy to say what are the components. If you create the file in Acrobat, then bookmarks retain the name of the original file, so your customer will be able to tell at a glance if everything was included.

  • How to combine several pdf files into a single pdf file of document

    How to combine several pdf files into a single pdf file of the document?

    IF you use a Mac Version (I guess that even for the PC version) you and use the new handset functionality.

    1. To use Acrobat open without opening a PDF and go to file menu choose combine PDF.
    2. A small window opens
    3. Look for the files to combine
    4. Drag the window and gout.
    5. Search for the following file and repeat
    6. Drag the files to correct the order.
    7. Rename and save the PDF

    Its actually easier than using insert pages.

  • How to export multiple pages into a single PDF file?

    I understand that I can export image to a PDF file format.

    Is there a way to export a few pages in a single PDF file?

    The only method I know is to use the slideshow Editor. You can include images with text.

    Create > slide show

    Add your images and then convert them to PDF.

  • The files HAVE as links within a file, indesign to then be a pdf file, problematic?

    I want to know if the files have linked to an indesign file, which must then be PDFed for the printer, problem somehow. I was always asked by my printer to have all my images within a PDF, CMYK value and saved in tiff format.

    It seems that they should not be a problem, and that by converting the format tiff s i just lose in detail and it being a chore, as I have over 150 images.

    Am I wrong?

    art of John Johnson says:

    What is a manual operation? where in illustrator I convert individually these or make me an option within indesign to do this to all the links of the eps?

    You can record an action to save as .ai and close the file, then run that in the form of lots on a folder of files. But I do not convert batch if I am preflighting. When I control upstream I open all the files, look for problems and potential problems, sync (if any) color, perform the action to remove unused items from the Panel, then save as a new file. I have always save as .ai with PDF compatibility and, if possible, check that all images are linked not shipped.

    Read my file for a file sizes have 370 Ko or there abouts, looks small (although we're talking here of line, maps, etc).

    But I can read is inside my document setup, under 'Transparency' my balance pixelation/vectorization is 75 (in the direction of vector), my resolution for line art & text is 300ppi, gradient and mesh is 150ppi. don't know if I'm just throwing numbers at you, but that's what I got.

    Those are the values by default of the effects of rasterization resolution (for example effect > esthetics > Drop Shadow) and gradient meshes are pixelated when you print or save a PDF file. I usually set up a predefined custom flatterer who goes completely to 100% and does not plan type or convert lines to fills. These are used for priting and record in PDF format only. Your .ai file contains a PDF high resolution whose Illustrator unknown when editing but that InDesign and Photoshop use to import.

    The size of the file is irrelevant to the resolution of the built-in images. 370 KB is quite small, however, and when combined with your description of the content gives heavily to think there is no raster elements, so nothing to sweat. You can open the links Panel to see if there are images embedded or linked. I expect none.

  • Export docs Folio or InDesign to Flash or interactive PDF?

    I did a magazine for a retail brand in the United Kingdom, and I'm almost done.

    I now wonder questons by my client as chipboard pages can be exported in a format such as flash or interactive PDF. They want available on the internet, as well as on Apple or Android stores as an application.

    Not ayone we know if it has all the options available to achieve this?

    Thank you.

    You can export your Indesign an interactive PDF or SWF files. But it will not have much in common with your DPS application.

    And it will both advance the intention to set up ID files and additional tasks with separate layers for DPS and and SWF or PDF. I recommend only for applications with movies, a custom in app and possibly related navigation.  ESM, 360, Pan, scrolling images and animations of the html5 is prohibited.

  • Export pages into a single pdf file?

    Is it possible to export a document with multiple pages as a pdf for each page in fireworks is a new page in the pdf file?

    Thank you

    Altogether. In Fireworks CS5 or CS6, you can do this from the file > export... command or the drop down menu of the Pages panel, choose Export selected pages. This opens the export dialog box. In the first drop-down menu, choose Adobe PDF (.pdf) and select the number of pages. You can also click the Options button to adjust the Compression, text selection, compatibility, etc. of the resulting PDF file.
