Export to a Photoshop file, writing layers unavailable

Hi all

I'm new to this forum, I did some research and could not find an answer to my problem. I hope that you will be able to help me !

I'm used to work and create my projects with Illustrator CS4, and then click the file > > export > > Photoshop file > > check the layers options write > > OK.

I don't know what I did with one of my file, but suddenly I can't tick the option "Write Layers" while it was working fine a few days ago...

I tried with other files I have and it works fine... but not with this new...

Do you have an idea of what I've done?

This file contains 66 layers, and there is no nested groups (I read online that could be the problem but it's not)...

I tried to delete all the layers except one and I still have this problem, I can only export it in the form of flat image...

Thanks for your help! I really need to export it to a file with layers photoshop.

Laurent

Couldn't you copy & paste after you have enabled the option "Paste remembers layers", this should then keep your layers correctly.

  • Importing Photoshop files with layers in AE

    Hello

I have a file with layers photoshop and here to import into AE as composition (no images) so that I can retain its layers. However, when I try to import the ps, it has not imported layers.  He has not even invite me with the dialog 'layer option '.  When I try to open the other ps file at random, they have worked very well. So I think it's something to do with my photoshop file.

    Any help appreciated.

Post a screenshot of your Photoshop file and the layers panel, unless it is in CMYK color (or possibly the Lab colors). If this is the case, change the color in RGB.

There is no reason to not have the option to import as a composition in the first dialogue, but the file will import that only a single layer and may not work at all.

Doesn't seem to not apply to Photoshop, just common verbiage to all app help. In particular "tags, hyperlinks, bookmarks, interactive elements" have no equivalent of Photoshop, so it is optimistic to think that they will still make layers. • The import image like Photoshop file vs PNG

My video guru created an arrow for me in Illustrator to use first to point the finger the items on the slides I created in InDesign.

He saved or that exported in a Photoshop file and sent to me, saying that I should just import the Photoshop file into my timeline first.

When I told him that I tried to save it as a PNG first so I see the thumbnail in Windows Explorer (and, I guess, in the sandbox in the first), he seemed to say 'reluctantly', ' fine, go ahead and do that.» He seems to believe that a Photoshop file behaves better in first as a PNG image.

I'm going to be rotating and panning/image of the arrow, but any zoom be down in size.

What's the story with the help of a Photoshop file vs a PNG?

    Thank you!

PNG is fine.  Ignore apparent reluctance.

N ° for this, you need to HAVE, and then export a layered PSD from there.

When I try to import a PSD with more then 1 layer import window opens but I'm making progress and the Cancel button is grayed.

I tried to edit the files stored with 8-bit CMYK to RGB.

I also did the tour where you are looking for in the media browser dubbel click it and make drag the file in the project, which works but it flattens the image and I need the different layers.

When I have 1 layer the psd and no transparent whats if ever it works too.

But I need to make images move so I need different layers of work anyone can help me with this?

    Thanks

    1. the photoshop files must always be RGB and CMYK never.

    2. sometimes when importing Photoshop files, the menu to choose the layers is off the screen. You know this if when importing and the first seems to freeze on import, press enter and you might get the photoshop file, but with all the merged layers. To choose the layers, reduce the size of the first screen when it is open before you import Photoshop, then try to import the photoshop file and you should see the submenu for choosing diapers. This may or may not be your problem, but it is one from time to time, I found.

  • Lightroom displays files and exports darker than the original or Photoshop files

    Hi all.

Let me first preface this by saying I'm not technical interest, and I know nothing (or very little) of CHF etc. profiles.

But suppose a person will try to tell me to do something with them in a really technical way that I don't understand, please treat me like a child of 4 years in this regard.

I use Lightroom 5.6 on a Mac under 10.9.4 I Photoshop CS6 and fitted with a calibration Spyder 3pro device and all the Adobe programs linked to the exit of calibration to ensure 'if all is well' quality control.

I recently was analog film scanning and this import in Lightroom 5. I noticed that the file import always seems darker than the original.

When I exported from Lightroom, them they look like shit.

There were no imports of additional parameters because they are all extinct. I did when I installed LR.

I also noticed that whenever I imported a Raw file for some reason, on the original file would look great for a second then when clicked would change to something less attractive. But I digress.

So try to show what's happening. I created some images to illustrate my problem.

Also, it doesn't matter if I turn the proofing or disable.

Clues because it is very annoying and yet 5 Lightroom unusable.

These files are probably in grayscale without an included icc profile. Photoshop, using the parameters that show you will pay 15% dot gain profile. Lightroom assumes the sRGB which is much more mixed. You can see this difference in the massively different histograms. What you need to do is save the file from Photoshop with included icc profile. Lightroom should display the same.

  • How can I unflatten layers in my photoshop file? CS5.5 extended

How can I unflatten layers in my photoshop file? CS5.5 extended

Have you clicked on flatten image?  If you save the project and closed out of Photoshop has no way to unflattening the image.  If you have not yet registered, you can cancel using the history panel?

In the future, I would like to put another version of the project before you flatten the image.  Or, you can duplicate and flatten the layer groups all at once. Simply select the layers you want to flatten, click right over them, select duplicate layers and press Command-E to merge the layers.  You can also right click on the layer and choose Merge layers.

If you duplicate the layers in a first time you can just delete the merged layer and return to your original layers to make other changes.  This way of working is called non-destructive editing.  I always double-layered before working on them.

    How is that possible?

.. .the way you already do. Sorry, there is no automated method to do this. AE doesn't bother PSDs internal structure once the layers have been imported. the program is al ljust footage. It is of course almost every day, because it prevents a fault with twisted PSD files, bad days when you need to replace things. Because the layers are named identically, a script could be useful. Maybe something in this sense is run on AEnhancers or AEScripts...

  • All of a sudden, I can't open a PNG file in layers.  I get a message file could not be found. Help!

I work with multilayer files in photophop CS6 creating composite photograph.  All of a sudden, I can't open the PNG files.  I get a message that the file cannot be found when I try to open it.  Can someone help me please?

A quick search on Google turned up the news I knew vaguely.

PNGs in layers are only produced by Macromedia (later Adobe Fireworks more) using a proprietary format that has never been publicly documented.  Thus, it seems that only Adobe Fireworks can open the png with the layers intact. Whether or not you can export these layers in another file format and to open in another application with everything intact seems to be up in the air.

Fire of artifice is not updated anymore and it seems that Adobe doesn't have a plan for png supports layers and the proprietary format is removed.

Some people seek to affinity as a possible replacement for Photoshop.

However to quote some comments from their FAQ:

FAQ - fireworks in layers of PNG and TIFF files in layers

Since this question comes up often, I write a definitive statement.

    Files PNG Fireworks (layers)

There is no such thing as "layered PNG.  The standard PNG does not define a way to store diapers and only deals with flattened images.

Fireworks saves the data of the extra layer of PNG files in a proprietary format with a private label. A definition for this exclusive data has never been made public.  Saved by Fireworks PNG still usable as a flattened image of any application able to handle PNG files.  These applications will maintain the standard data and ignore the proprietary data of fireworks.

Affinity maintains the standard PNG files.  But it cannot import or export data from the layer by using the method of fireworks.

There is no hope that we will always be able to manage the data layer from Fireworks PNG files.

We recognize that being able to handle Fireworks PNG files would be very useful for users of affinity.  If a public definition of the format of data become available, we will be able to address the issue.

    Layered TIFF files

There is no such thing as "layered TIFF.  The TIFF standard handles only images flattened under the tags described to the public.

TIFF allows businesses to record any additional tags for their own use. Adobe has recorded two private TIFF tags that allow them to incorporate the layer data in a TIFF file.  These tags are an extension and are not part of the standard TIFF Central.  These tags are used to integrate data layer PSD into a TIFF image, in addition to the standard rasterized image.

Since affinity has a PSD importer, we are able to import data from the layer of a TIFF file if it has these tags.  However, given that this is handled by our PSD importer that is subject to the restrictions as standard PSD Import in affinity.  We clearly that while we aim to provide the best third party support PSD, we can never replicate 100% the way Photoshop deals and displays a PSD file.  Photoshop has its own approach to apply the transparency/alpha, vector and features of vector, layer effects and gradient masks.  This means that although we can offer the importation of what can be changed to a PSD file, the result will not be a reproduction of a one pixel that you see in Photoshop.

We recorded our own TIFF tags for the incorporation of the data layer of affinity in a TIFF file, in a similar way to the data layer PSD. This is intended for the dams that use TIFF as their Exchange format.  When you save a TIFF file, you are given the option to include data of layer affinity.  This will help keep the editable document of several layer elements.  This obviously comes at a cost of increased size.  Our TIFF labels will use our format proprietary data and as such, cannot be used by the applications of affinity.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Their admission that same PSD are not guaranteed to be a reproduction of a tone pixel that you see in Photoshop, combined with the use of the affinity of the TIFF layers and tags "our TIFF labels will use our format proprietary data and as such, cannot be used by affinity applications." is a bit worrying consequences for everyone who has the hope that affinity would be a complete replacement for Photoshop

  • I used Gimp and enjoyed learning about it. Now that I am considering the upgrade because I make professional graphics, it launches a call I can not load any of my Gimp to Photoshop files for review and any changes. Isn't this counterproductive? I'm losing

At this point, I am extremely disappointed in PhotoShop. I've been sleeping with graphics for almost 5 years on Gimp and I think I'm finally ready to upgrade to a more professional system. But nothing in all the literature I can find tells me how to import an .xcf (Gimp layers) to revise and edit photos of 5-year. Can someone tell me if this is possible? I will certainly not improve a system that doesn't let me integrate my previous work in most modern presentations. If you offer this option, I thank you and hope you find a way to incorporate instructions in the search function in the Help menu online. If you do not, I must say that this kind of refusal to work with other platforms is counterproductive to designers who are willing to invest in higher level software.

Don't know why your psd files get flattened, maybe your using an older version of gimp, but gimp 2.8.16 you can save (file > export as) a file in psd (photoshop, image) and keep the layers even when opened in photoshop.

Of course, not all perfect like layer groups and such, carries like photoshop files saved from photoshop are not translated perfect in gimp.

I don't think its realistic to expect photoshop to be able to edit files in gimp without some roadblocks, nor I would expect gimp to edit files photoshop without a few problems.
