express error airport; No DNS server address

OSX El Capitan

10.11.6

MacBook Pro mid-2009

Coupled with Airport Express Airport Extreme.

Time Warner Cable improved the internet in our area and it took a new modem. At the new modem and Airport Extreme works with it, having to put the modem in Bridge mode.

However the station Airport Express a few classrooms is now always flashing orange and the error says "there is no DNS server address.

If I refresh the DHCP lease it will go green, but less than a minute he keeps flashing orange.

What should I do?

The way this is supposed to work, it's that your main router obtains the DNS server address of an upstream (on the ISP network) server. The wireless access point or router (router in bridged mode) next level gets its the main router DNS addresses. All subsidiary wireless access points get their the next upstream router DNS server address. Your Mac gets these addresses from the router or wireless access point when it gets its IP address.

It is possible that you may need to turn off all routers, then feed their place in the order of the modem to the outside. But once that happens it is likely to have on them.

If no joy in doing that, don't use the Admin user on your main router to see what should be these addresses, write them and enter them manually when you need it.

  • Why static DNS server address round get the unable to download updates 8024402C problem in WIN7?

I got a work around for the unable to download problem error 8024402C updated on a new laptop WIN7 Starter running.  I get regarding the size of the update and starts to download, but nothing comes down.  The solution is to change the DNS settings of default for a manually configured DNS server, for example 4.2.2.2.  It works, but I wonder why, and what is he moving?

The auto setting worked when I was in the United States connecting via a LAN in the hotel but not here at home in AUS, where the settings auto search for an address DNS 192.168.1.1, my router ADSL/2.  All other functions like Skype, Adobe updated, download of MS shop, all work very well using 192.168.1.1.  Also my XP Home PC, all use 192.168.1.1 and they get the updates without any problem.

-What is someone able to explain why?

    Thank you

    Hi ascidiens,

The 0x8024402C error codes typically occur because there is an incorrect character in substitution of proxy settings. Basically, it's something to do with the proxy of your connection settings network and which can be overcome by changing the DNS settings in manual.

Bad adjustment System (DNS) domain name of your network connection may also cause this error. Update Windows servers are accessible through DNS servers configured for Internet access. If a local DNS server has changed for some reason, the Windows Update client isn't able to find and connect to the Windows Update server.

I would like to know if refer to a Microsoft article to work around this problem by changing the settings default for a manually configured DNS server DNS (Domain Name System).

I would say to you to follow the steps mentioned in the link below for the complete solution of the problem

  • Why the Windows Vista client gets the IP address of the Windows SBS 2011 as default DNS server?

I use Windows Vista on a client computer that is connected to our Windows Server SBS 2011 server. I don't want to use the DNS server on the local server and the DNS addresses are automatically collected on our router. Every time I have to restart my computer or disconnect / reconnect the connection to the local network, the default DNS server address is set back to static and has the IP address of the local server, which makes it much slower DNS specifications.

Can I disable this automatic update of address of DNS server somehow? In fact, I don't want to run a DNS server on the local server.

  • "The DNS server is not responding", but I had problems when I tried the fixed IP address. Help!

    Hello

With some networks, all is well, connected and has internet access.  In other places, like where I am now, I can connect to a network, but I can't access the internet.  I tried the long fix recommended on the community of Miscrosoft, start by entering cmd at the beginning and then dealing with IP addresses, but I kept getting "Media disconnected" and where he would have had this connection to the Local network #, 0.0.0.0 or something else, I saw that anywhere.  He just said Local Area Connection * 12 because I remember and then was something like 00000000000000E at the bottom of the entry.  I also tried the method 2, use the control panel and the connection of LAN, but then 'properties' properties of it has not been highlighted, so I couldn't continue.  Windows 7 laptop.  Help!

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think I have solved it!  I use your method 1 and took the link to Microsoft Support.  Then, I used their method 2 (TCP/IP configuration settings), without success.  But I just had an intuitive idea, so I tried again, but do not click on the Local network connection, I clicked on the network, I try to use, Fairpoint-etc, went in and saw that Internet Protocol Version 4 was not set to automatically obtain DNS server address.  So I chose that, hoping that I didn't just kill my computer and voila!  Internet access is here!  We'll see if it stays.

Where it rises again if, because you asked, Yes, I am using a wireless connection and my anti-virus is Avira.  Out of curiosity, is this good antivirus, or is there something better that is also free?  Thank you very much

  • My net guard cut due to DNS server problems

I get my internet cut and cause still appears to be a DNS problem. I used the web perfectly, but now I'm used to it cut for 3 months.

I don't remember what caused this, but I suspected a defective phone or router or ISP problems line.

My ISP customer service doesn't help, so I can't identify if this is the end of my ISP.

So usually I might be sailing from usually 5 minutes to an hour if I'm lucky, then it cuts off.

Troubleshooting the connection with windows open "Windows cannot communicate with the device or resource" or sometimes "DNS server does not respond.

My DNS server is the default google a "8.8.8.8", I do not know if my ISP has an own DNS server.

I have a Wi - Fi connection with a wireless router.

What I asked you, how was your router is connected to the Internet.

Looking at the router and that everything seems to be stable at least from my point of view of a layman.

I don't know how you think you are determining that "everything seems stable.  If you are disconnected from the Internet, things are not stable.

The function of a DNS server is to translate the web addresses that is readable by a human like google.com to IP addresses that can be used by routers on the Internet to get to where you want to go.  You don't need the DNS server if you ask for the site by using its IP address.

    Try this:

    1. The next time you get the message "the DNS server is not responding", type the following command in the window of your browser and press ENTER:
      134.170.188.221
    2. What is going on?  You should go to the Microsoft home page.

    Here's something to try:

    1. In an era where everything is working correctly, open a command prompt window (click Start, type cmd.exe in the search box and press enter). Then type
      ipconfig
in the black command prompt window and press ENTER.  Make a note of the IP address for your 'default gateway'.
    2. The next time you lose the connection, type the IP address of the default gateway in the address box and press ENTER.
    3. What is going on?  You should get a log on screen for the configuration of your Internet router utility.   You can find the details in the user's Guide for your router or watch here--> http://www.routerpasswords.com/
    4. If you can connect to the router configuration utility, go to the "Status" page and see if the router is connected or not connected to the Internet.  For example, it is an old Wireless Linksys WRT54G connected to a DSL modem using the PPPoE protocol router:

    • If you don't get the newspaper on the screen of your router, then the problem is with your wi - fi connection.
    • If you connect to the router but the router is not connected to the Internet, then the problem is with your router or your ISP (including cable/phone line).
    • If you connect to the router and the router is connected to the Internet but you still get the error "the DNS server is not responding" message, then the first thing to do would be to set up a different DNS server.

BTW, I put my IPV4 for a DNS address automatically and it seems to be just a little stable.

Do you mean that you used to use the next screen with the game of radio button "use the following DNS server address"?  You should not do.  Exit this screen configured to obtain IP address and addresses DNS servers automatically.  Configure your router to use regardless of the DNS servers to use.  See the status page of the sample router that is above, which allows the selection of 3 DNS server addresses.

  • I am fully connected to the Internet, but my DNS server is not responding. How can I connect otherwise?

I am fully connected to the Internet, but when I click on my home page and even several other pages, including Windows Live Mail, I get an error message that my DNS server is not responding. How can I work around this problem and to connect to the Internet anyway?

You want to be sure that you use the right setting for your DNS server.  You can move this in your browser using the digital URL for the what you want to access web sites.  You will find them by using the PING command at the command prompt.  Hold the Windows key and press R.  Then type CMD and press ENTER.  Then enter for example to get the address of the web site of MS PING WWW.MICROSOFT.COM.

Unless otherwise directed by your Internet service provider, you want TCP/IP settings to "obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".  To do this click Start-> Control Panel-> Network Center and sharing-> view status.

    Then click on properties.

From there, click on Internet Version 6 Protocol and properties.

Click on the two radio buttons to "obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".  Click OK.

Then click Internet Version 4 Protocol and make the same changes in what concerns the version 6.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

    Good luck.

  • List virtual machines and their DNS server settings

I try to list virtual machines and their primary and secondary DNS server addresses.  Are the cmdlets in vmware that can do this, or would I need to use the invoke-script command.  I have the list of virtual machines and I want to list them all with their DNS server addresses.

I tried to use the wmi objects such as:

    Win32_networkadapterconfiguration get-wmiobject - computername "servername |

    Select name, DNSServerSearchOrder

It would give me the specific server name and addresses of dns.

But I need the list of servernames which I would like to list some and their

    DNSserversearchorder settings (DNS settings)

I tried to put the servernames list in a text file using

    Get - vm | Export-csv C:\computername.txt - notype

Then I used the get-content command and the pipe in the get-wmiobject

    command like below:

    $servers = get-Content c:\computername.txt

    ForEach ($server in $servers)

    {get-wmiobject Win32_networkadapterconfiguration - computername $server

    | where {$_.} IPEnabled-fits 'True'} | Select-object

    name, DNSServerSearchOrder

But when I run this command fails with errors such as a pipe empty

element is not allowed.  I don't know if the above script has all synatx

error or what is the best way to get a list of servers and their dns server

    Parameters.

I know the wmiobject maybe out of this range in these newsgroups but there at - it a script in powershell, vmware or windows powershell to get a list of servername (which are mostly VMS) and their DNS server settings.

Try the following script to get the DNS search order:

    Get-Content c:\computername.txt | `
    ForEach-Object {
      Get-WMIObject Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration -Computername $_ | `
        Where-Object {$_.IPEnabled -match "True"} | `
        Select-Object -property DNSHostName,DNSServerSearchOrder
    }

  • Getting the error "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." on XP computer

"There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." I keep getting these messages on my computer. -What it means and how to solve this?

IP addresses are assigned to a computer in one of two basic methods: the address is assigned automatically by the device "in charge" of the network (in your case, the wifi hotspot router) or the address is set manually on the computer.

If the address is assigned automatically, the router is "smart" enough to assign a different address for everyone.  However, if your computer has a fixed or 'static' IP address assigned manually, it may conflict with an address assigned by the router to another computer.

You do not specify, so I'm going to assume that your computer is running WIndows XP...

    1. On your computer, open the network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK)
    2. Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties
    3. Click on the 'Général' tab, select "Protocol Internet (TCP/IP)" from the list of "this connection uses the following items" and click "Properties".
    4. Select the boxes for two on "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
    5. OK your way out.

This will not adversely affect your computer somehow.

If the two "automatic" settings were already selected, it is likely that your wireless adapter is managed by a utility provided by the manufacturer of your computer or your adapter wifi rather than Windows.  There should be a wifi icon in the system notification area (near the time display).  Click or right-click on it and see if you can access the menu of configuration settings or to determine at which it is useful.

  • Cannot communicate with the first DNS Server (169.126.63.1)

    Hello
I have recently had problems with my internet connection and therefore cannot get on the internet at my place when it used very well. I have a wired connection usually, but tried to install a router but now even the wired connection doesn't work and I get the message "Cannot communicate with the first DNS Server (169.126.63.1)" I tried many things and even reformatted my hard drive, do a reinstall system, different setting reset and still it does not work. Hope someone can help me in this situation. Thanks to a bouquet.

    Here is my information

    Hello

    1. have you done any software or hardware changes to your computer recently?

To work with this issue, I would say that you try the methods below to resolve this issue.

    Method 1:

    The problems of Internet connection

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/troubleshoot-Internet-connection-problems

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

Let us reset TCP/IP and check.

To reset TCP/IP stack to go to this article and follow the instructions.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/299357

    Step 2.

1 connect to your router (by typing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar) and connect. Check your user manual or documentation if you don't know the references of logon.
    2. make sure that you are in the installation - basic configurationcategory.
    3. scroll down until you see "DHCP Server"- if it is disabled, select 'Enable'.
    4. enable DHCPif you want, you can change the number that starts the DHCP IP setting. (This is optional)
    5. use the DNS servers provided by your ISP. There are many DNS servers out there. It is preferable to use your ISP if possible.
    6. scroll and click ' Save Settings '.

    Step 3.

    1. click Startand then clickControl Panel.
    2. go in network and sharing Centerand then click onchange adapter settings.

  • Your DNS server cannot resolve the names of Xbox Live

I had a link with my BEFSR41 version 4.3 and Westell 6100 Verizon.  The modem took a dump and was replaced by the 6100f (f is for f - you).  I can't connect to Xbox live.  The subject line is what tells me the platform.  Verizon says it's a router problem.  I opened the ports, turned on the DMZ and get this problem go away.  Any ideas?

DNS, Domain Name System, is how computers find other computers on the Internet. A problem with the DNS means that your Xbox 360 console does not know how to find the Xbox LIVE servers. In many cases, restarting your modem, router and another material (also called cyclic power) can solve the problem. It is to turn each piece of equipment and turn it back on in sequence. If you have not already done so, give it a try today...

If it doesn't work, access your router installation and click the status tab, open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router... In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave the name blank username & password use admin lowercase... Click the status tab and check the Internet IP Address(it should not start with 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x)... If you have one IP address other than what is mentioned above, then it has to work, take no DNS1 and DNS2 and assign the DNS server manually.

    1. go to my Xbox and open Control Panel.
    2. Select network settings, configure the network.
    3. on the basic settings tab, select DNS settings, and then select manual.
4 Select the primary DNS server, enter your primary, then DNS server address.
    5. Select the secondary DNS server, enter your secondary, then DNS server address.
    6. Select done to save your settings, then try to connect again. It should work...
