Satellite M40X-183: Impossible to install photoshop CS2
I have a Satellite M40X-183. I tried to install Photoshop CS2 and it installs everything but the help files and I wait for hours complete the installation, but it is not. Before it took me a long time to set up but once I updated my toshiba software he showed some changes and installed more quickly but still stuck using the part files. It seems to install but it does not actually install anything this either fight the help files and I install Photoshop CS2 on my desktop from the cd, it works very well.
I have similar problems with some other proggrams running.
Is there anyway I can install photoshop? has anyone else had the same problem I have?Hello
It's really not easy to say what can be the problem. You will be very happy if someone has exactly the same problem and can give you some explanations. I have installed and tested a lot of different software on my Tecra and up to now, everything works fine.
Problem is that Toshiba is not responsible for the non-Toshiba software and if no one can help you try to contact Adobe support.
Sorry, but I don't see any other solution.
Good luck!

Can satellite M40x-183 - I switch from XP to Windows 7?
Is it possible to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite M40X-183?
Hello
Theoretically, you can do everything, but you know how old your laptop is? In my opinion Windows 7 isn't the first choice for good old classic. It of designed for Windows XP and you should be satisfied with this OS.
In my opinion, Windows XP is the best choice for old books, that they are not designed for Windows 7.

Express the Media Player (EMP) recovery disk - satellite P105-S6024
I have a problem with my on my new machine satellite P105-6024 express Media Player software.
As I bought it, everything works fine. But then, I did the partitions on my HARD drive and I instaled all the software recovery disc. And everything looks earlier and work properly but Express Media Center. It seems that it is not installed. I found the special Express Media Player restore disk but I don't know how to use it. (I am a novice complite). As I knew EMP is a linux-like software and it is not visible in Windows. And I know that there was a small special partition dedicated to this application. This partition has been deleted. And I'm not sure that it is possible to install EMP once more on my laptop. How can I use the EMP recovery disk? If I just run in the windows environment I see just a few files - but their execution, nothing is happen. I'd appreciate a small manual.
Thank you very much in advance
Hello
I found this on the web:
Installation Guide step by step for Express Media Player and Windows XP Recovery on two partitions in Expert mode:
(1) all DATA on HARD drive will BE DESTROYED IRREVERSABLY (it's serious!)
(2) install Express Media Player:
Boot from the recovery Express Media Player CD
--> use [delete all Partitions] (can be on the left side of the menu for older versions of reader).
THIS ERASES THE ENTIRE HARD DRIVE!
(3) boot with the Windows XP Recovery CD, go to expert mode and exit the "TOSHIBA Recovery Tool" (version OEM Ghost) using menuitem "Quit."
(4) you can use fdisk.exe or gdisk.exe - I'll show the syntax here gdisk
(its easier to describe and there are a lot of descriptions for FDISK on the net)
(5) now, we create two partitions (size of 50%: 50%-playersize).
--> At the DOS prompt, type:
Gdisk 1 /cre /pri /sz:50%-> creates a primary partition 1
Gdisk 1 /cre /ext-> creates an extended partition 2
Gdisk 1/log /cre-> creates a 2nd logical partition
Gdisk 1/p:1-> partionion set 1 active /act
(6) now reboot with Windows XP Recovery CD, go to expert mode
(7) menu use: Local\Partition\From Image, choose image GHO menu
(8) there should only be ONE partition available source:
1 primary DiskLoad NTFS 07...-> pick this one!
(9) Select destination disk (there are also only one)
1basic...-> pick this one!
(10) now you need to choose the destination partition - there should be three to choose!
(11) select:
1 primary 0C Fat32 without name...-->! BE SURE TO CHOOSE THIS ONE!
(12) to confirm that you want to write on this partition
"(13)" TOSHIBA Recovery Tool "is unpack and install the operating system
(14) subsequently Windows XP and Media Player Express are installedHope this will help you. Good luck!
Good bye

Strange problem with Toshiba Express Media Player on Satellite M115-S3094
I am facing a strange problem in my Toshiba M115-S3094, which has been pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition and which also had the Toshiba Express Media Player.
I had already done a clean install of Vista on it, and then I decided to go back to XP with my recovery DVDs. I did the same procedures of first installation Express Media Player to backup (that I did when I bought the laptop) and then installing Windows XP DVD de Toshiba Recovery XP.
The steps included:
1 deleted recovery Express media player disk partitions
2. installed express media player
3 extracted Xp Recovery DVD, by selecting 'Recover without changing the Partitions' (there is no expert mode)Everything was fine (i.e. installation)... But now, after the turning off my laptop I press the Express Media Center button, the logo "Express Media Player" appears on the screen after loading of closures of laptop for 5 seconds.
I tried to open it again and again, but the logo is displayed for 5 seconds and then my laptop stop...
Laptop works fine when I connect to windows by pressing the power button / stop.
Can someone help me on this strange question... ?
Hello
The whole story is a bit confusing
First of all, I would like to know if your laptop is already preinstalled with the Media Express Player and if you were able to use it on your laptop in the past.Now something about the Express Media Player installation;
In order to use the media functions Express the Mediaplayer Express Recovery CD must be performed before performing the recovery from the recovery DVD-ROM products.In addition, on the HARD drive should at least 150-200 MB of free space available.
This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated. To get these free space on party products 3rd HARD drive should be used as Partitions Magic 8.I m not 100% sure that on error ID system badly but maybe it corresponds to the DMI evil information stored on the motherboard. If we're not DMI, you will not be able to reinstall Express Media player using the recovery media express CD.
In the DMI must be set properly the manufacturing: Toshiba, product name: for example by Satellite M115-S30Finally and most importantly, I found this thread useful forum on the Media Express recovery procedure:

Can I use Express Media Player on Satellite Pro M70 delivered without it?
Hello world
I have a portable Satellite Pro M70 which has not been installed with Express Media Player. In addition, my recovery CD too are not the Express Media Player software on it. Is there a way I can download this Express Media Player and even install on my laptop. If so can someone let me have this link download and any other procedure for doing the same thing.
Thank you
MarziI put t agree with the user above.
Microsoft Windows player is not the same as the Express Media Player, which is sometimes delivered with Toshiba laptops.
As far as I know, this software cannot be downloaded and it s version an OEM if it s preinstalled on your laptop.
In this forum, you will find some comments on this topic.
To my knowledge, you cannot obtain and order the CD of Express Media Player if this application has not been delivered with your laptop.Unfortunately, nothing to do.

Express Media Player for Satellite M40?
Hello world
where can I find this software to operate the keys specified on my laptop? I reinstalled the laptop with XP - Pro, but I have not found this software.
Please help me
Thank you
KarotteHello
As far as I know that you need a media Express CD player which should be supplied with your device. This little player can be used without booting the operating system, and it will be installed on the small hidden partition.
Check please if the Express media player CD is delivered.

Speaker crackling sound with media player on satellite
I have a problem with my speakers, everytime I go to use media player, all I hear is a crackling sound to them, any ideas.
Hello
What is the crackling appear since the first day?
It happens if you play the CD or watch movies?
Maybe some codex are missing.Have you tried to update the audio driver? If this isn't the case, in order to check it out.
However, I also read that sometimes, a new installation of the OS could solve these problems.
I don't know why, but maybe some files on the HARD disk may be damage. -
I have Toshiba Satellite M40X with DVD/CDR. can change the DVD/CDR on DVD-R/DVD-RW? Is it possible to find a job in a car?
Hello
I think that it should be possible to replace the disk. I don t see any difficulties, but you must take care about one thing.
Slim drives support a fix master\slave\c-salt settings and you can not change with the rider as on desktop drives.In any case, in my manual, I found some compatible drives for my laptop.
I think you will also find the compatible players and supported in your user manual.Have you checked it? If this isn't the case, you should do it.

Need to drive recovery Express Media Player for Satellite M100-164
Hello
Cou1d - what someone so kind and post the link for the download of recovery disk for Toshiba M100 - 52, 179, 180 EMP,... or send it by email (I have a very fast connection in my work). I would try to install it on my M100-164. You can find my email in my profile. I will post the result, if it works.
Thanks in advance
Hi Kavo,
The recovery discs are unfortunately not available for download. They can only be purchased through an authorized Service partner. In my view, that it is a condition of the agreement with Microsoft OEM license.
Kind regards
