Extra hard drive to Compaq SG3-230UK desktop PC

Hi everyone / no matter who just got what I thought was a pc good report from pc world and assured that I could do what I had to do with him after talking with the seller (assured me I could put a second drive in)... I have a second hard drive to install but when I remove the side panel I can't seem to find any other power cable spare... also, there seems to be no possibility of upgrading at all because there is no pci only slots out of the pci-1 tiny ones so no chance to upgrade the graphics card etc in the future... I realize account it's my fault for not going in these things at once, but I would like to ask the second drive in... I think I need some kind of power cable splitter and a sata cable? may sound stupid, but I had only a laptop up to this point and am hoping at least the pc will have a second drive... I can see alternatives to the motherboard sata connections and assume one of them allows you to connect to?

any help or advice would be great...

You must draw the connectors. There are 3 sheets on this 180W PSU molex power.  We should have the SATA power molex plug adapter. Your right, you saw more SATA MOBO connections. The back problem will be to find a space for the reader and wiring. The manual at HP is generic, and I can't offer you any help or advice more.

    Hello

I bought a few extra hard drives for my server Cisco UCS C240 M3

Currently I have 16 x 300 GB SAS drives in a RAID 10 array and would add more than 8.

In BMI - storage - physical drive information they appear as not configured well.

    How I can not either;

    1. add additional to the existing table hard disks, without deleting the existing data?

    2. Add another virtual drive in RAID 10?

The server is running ESXi v5.5

    Thank you

  • Re: How to comvert my HARD drive to use as my desktop HDD

I had a Satellite A300 die on me (motherboard went) and the cost of repair is more than the cost of replacement. The HARD drive still works and I want to use it as my main office as it has VIsta on it and my desktop has XP.

I tried to put it back and start the computer off it, but I think there are some exclusive things of Toshiba in the way. Can someone give me an idea how to make this happen? If not, does anyone have a * Satellite PSLB0A - 08H 022 * motherboard that they are not able to use because of some other defect?

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F - extra hard drive

    Hello

I have recently purchase a G40 thinking it was x 2 of physical drives, it appears in this model there is only a single physical HD

I read in many places, there is room for the G40-10 for a reader to additional disk placed inside the machine but this model seems to have simply a fixed cover but the space for the reader to be mounted

Nobody knows of the back plate is removed and an additional hard drive caddy to store additional drive - it should be relatively simple with a heat dissipation and other I think all that is needed is the replacement carriage and connector cable SATA - x motherboard 2 recognisies readers

All I really want to know is

    (1) is it possible
    (2) is - someone doing it
    (3) toshiba reference numbers for the caddy and for a G40 - 10F sata cables

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30, but I saw G40 and if I remember, although in the lower corner, that there are two HARD drives covers. Two of them are placed close to the battery, and they have one, how to say, plastic circle. AFAIK the G40 is offered with one or two hard drives. The first HARD disk is placed inside fixed with a screw. One extra is placed under the second HARD drive cover fixed with two screws.

I don't really know if your G40 is extensible, but you can contact the service provider authorized in your country. They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can check it for you. Part number is usually internal case and it is not easy to find number of exact part for these additional parts like the drive bracket HARD or cables.

Make a call and pick up information on the possibility of upgrade HARD drive.
One last thing: try to remove the cover for the second HARD drive and check if the HARD drive connector is there.

  • upgrade the hard drive to Compaq nx6320

    I have a Hp compaq nx6320. Can I replace his ' 80 GB HDD 500 GB one?

Going through the material, I see no reason why it would be limited to 120 GB.  The limitation of the hardware would be limited by the BIOS, and the BIOS of this era took in charge much more than 120 GB.  I would be very surprised if a 500 GB HDD has failed in this system.  If it came with a FAT32 based operating system, such as Windows ME, then it would be a problem.

TI being a business unit, you can try councils to reach out to other users of this unit for first-hand experience.  A link was provided earlier in the thread.  I found this thread in the works councils the same question.  The user has received a response that it should support up to 1 TB, and they are not returned indicating that a larger HARD drive did not work for them.  Of course, not returning doesn't mean it was perfect for them.  It is very likely that it does not work for them.

  • New hard drive for compaq presario c500 running vista. I want to switch to windows 7

I'm fixing my laptop aunts. He a presario c500 compaq running windows vista. I bought a new hard drive. I would like to install windows 7. She could get windows 7 discs for free when she got off the computer, windows 7 was not yet. They have offered free windows 7 for people who bought the PC just before its release. Is it too late? I guess it's too late. Is there anyway I can get windows 7 for free? Or is there any discount for the upgrade to vista. I can't afford windows 7 discs.

In my opinion, it's too late to get a free version or price reduced from Windows 7. This offer was available about two or three years, if my memory is good.

You can Contact HP and ask.

    Best regards

  • Copy an old hard drive for Compaq laptop.

I have a Compaq Armada 7380DMT with a noisy (noise that feels like the dentist worn forest is in your head) drive hard 4gig. I want to copy it to a disk good 6gig, with diagnostic partition.

What utility actually * operation * so that when I install the new drive it starts in ye olde Windows 95 b instead of saying 'Missing Operating system '?

I tried Paragon Drive Copy 9 Pro with the copy of defining raw partition and Dubaron DiskImage. Or copied the disc correctly so it could start on partition 2, but he could start on the diagnostic partition if I held F10.

The diagnostic partition is FAT16 with a very bare Windows 3.1 on it, with the Compaq utility as shell instead of program manager program. The other partitions are a primary FAT32 and an extended with a logical partition to FAT32 partition.

The PC that I have to do the copy with host is a laptop computer running 32 bit Vista Ultimate SP1 and a couple of USB adapters IDE laptop.

PS, I was do this kind of things computer since nearly 27 years and still have not seen all "fun and interesting" ways to complicate the life of a tech computer companies have set up!

I couldn't find any disk copy utility that could copy all partitions AND create the thing correctly. Here's what I figure out to make it work.

    1. with the original disc in, press F10 when booting to access the diagnostic partition. Use the options to make the diagnostic and installation floppies.

    2. make a startup with Windows 95 disk, then make a copy on C:\ of MSDOS. SYS and change the name to MSDOS. BAK

    3. right click MS-DOS. BAK, click Poperties and uncheck the box system, hidden and read-only. Copy MSDOS. BAK on the startup disk.

    4. install the new VIRGIN hard drive and start with the diagnostic disk. It will take you through the implementation of a diagnostic partition and install the configuration files / Compaq PC diagnosis.

    5. Insert the startup disk and restart. Use FDISK to create partitions. PARTITION 2 MARK AS ACTIVE. It is 2. TWO. Not 1!

    6. Restart then FORMAT C:/s so the file system will be installed. To format all the others that you have created.

    7 A:\>attrib c:\msdos.sys s h - r

    8 A:\>copy msdos.bak c:\msdos.sys

    9 A:\>attrib msdos.sys + s + h + r

    10. remove the disc, connect it and the old drive to another PC by any means. USB > IDE adapters will work.

    11. on the old disk, use Explorer to go to the volume, which Windows 95 is installed.

    12. you need NOT hide all files and to display the name of Windows file extensions.

    13. press Ctrl a to select all files.

14 hold CTRL and click on IO COMMAND.COM. SYS AND MSDOS. SYS to deselect them.

15 drag with the RIGHT button of the mouse on the new drive, release and click on copy.

    16. when it's done copying, stop and then install the new hard drive in the laptop. Start up and you should be to the old windows on a new drive.

This process works even to switch to Windows 95 and 98 on a new disc using the Win 9 x computer is running. You must move the page file to the root of C:, or to another drive is not in the Windows folder. Format the new drive with the /s switch and when you copy everything, deselect MSDOS. SYS, so it will copy the basic version FORMAT installed.

It took me a lot of research to find the last disk of Compaq PC Diagnostics making SoftPaq to the Armada 7300 series, because HP does not have it on the downloads page for the driver of the laptop. This is the version 10.40 a, sp16085 number ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp16001-16500/ here the version removes the diagnostic partition configuration option. 10.39 version has, sp12906, keeps the installation program. It's here. FTP://FTP.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp12501-13000/

I found these SoftPaq numbers on this page. http://Priede.BF.Lu.lv/FTP/pub/OS/Datori/Compaq/Armada_4150/utility/sp16085.html

  • Update of RAM and hard drive for Compaq 6710 b

    Hey guys,.

I had Compaq 6710 b and I'll update my Ram and HARD drive on it with these (link here)

On the system view, it says memory: 1.99 Gb and the Crucial site gives these details:

    Maximum memory: 4 GB
    Slots: 2

But I looked under the hood of the ram and only thing I saw was a simple location with stick of 1 GB (below Sorry for bad quality and light photos)

So then it just a single cell phone location? And I can buy a 1 x 4 GB DDR2 ram stick?

  • Add and extra hard drive to A706n

Can I add an extra internal hard drive to my A7806N? If yes which is recommended?

Your topic says A706n, so I will be with this:

    Computer A706n: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00232946

    320 GB 8 MB cache: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136785 $65

BTW: Congrats on a circa 2004 XP machine. You must be kept very clean inside.  If it was my machine, I would clone the drive to replace and remove the old drive in an external enclosure. It is more than 7 years old. As the old drive probably has a 8 MB cache, you see some improvement with 16 MB cache. From my quick research for you, I found that 8 MB cache drive was 80-320 GB disks. The only 16 MB cache was the 500 GB.

  • More large hard drive for Compaq Presario CQ56-103SA

    Hello

I have a Presario, model CQ56 (103SA), the hard drive that I want to upgrade. Is this possible?  As the laptop has Windows 7 preinstalled, how can I do to get re-installed?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Ed434

The specifications indicate a hard drive of 250 GB. Yes that can be upgraded to a 1.5 to (6 times larger) or somewhere in between. 750 GB is the sweet spot right now or even 1 TB.

Also, your drive is a model of slow 5400 RPM so I suggest at least upgrade to a 7200 RPM model. This is the model 750 GB 7200 rpm:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=9SIA2W014M8026

This shows how to replace the hard drive physically:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=CiZxo9DjM6c

If your old drive still works, you can burn recovery DVD in the HP Recovery Manager. If the Windows installation is still OK (no viruses or anything like that) we can show you how it is enough to copy the old drive to the new so that you have all your programs and data. This operation may take some special software and hardware but not expensive. We can also provide a Windows 7 reinstall only disk image, you can recover Windows and then get the pilots and others from this site. There are several options, in other words.

  • Satellite A200-193 - installing an extra HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Satellite A200-193 and I would like to install one additional go 160 HARD drive into the free location.
The problem is that there is no SATA connector to this place (switch on the motherboard, not more).
I know there are computer A200 laptop with a second HDD and my question is "if I go into an official TOSHIBA Service Center, it is possible to install a SATA connector in this free site, this is to allow the installation of additional HARD drive?

If someone could help me on this point, it would be great.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mathieu

I see that you are a bit confused ;)
As you known t n, there are probably different Satellite A200 series a series helps the second HARD drive upgrade and some A200 series cannot be upgraded
But the A200 series was equipped with the same laptop covers

This means that you will find the second drive HARD on all mobile A200 Bay but the drive HARD (SATA) connectors don t exist on each series.
It seems that your laptop cannot be upgraded with the second HARD disk because of the second missing HARD drive interface.

I hope I can clarify this confusing question ;)

    Good bye

  • Satellite P200 - extra hard drive problem

When I bought my laptop the advisor at importers told me I could get an adapter so that I could put the second drive in my laptop but now when I want to get the adapter and another player, they want to charge me about a 3rd of the price of what I paid for the laptop! And I pay dealer prices goods... All seems like hold up for me! Especially seeing that we all know the price of hard drives is so low!

Can anyone help with a part number, or the details of this adapter so that I can order from abroad or find on ebay or something?

    Hello

I put t know which adapter you are which means exactly, but if you want to use a second HD in this notebook, then you should check first if the second HARD drive bay contains the necessary HARD drive connector.

You should know that not all laptops can be improved with the second HARD disk, even if the second HARD drive Bay is available!

Then remove the second Bay and check if there is a HARD drive connector!
