Extremely poor bandwidth WiFi - with Windows only

I have two laptops running Windows 7. One is mine and is about five years old. The other belongs to my employer and is less than one year.

Both computers have problems of severe flow with Comcast Internet service and WiFi router in a House to sleep during the work week. My room is one floor above the router, and horizontally, almost on top of it. The windows of the signal strength meter reports four bars. Windows has no trouble to make and maintain a liaison, but the flow is so poor that a simple web page takes several minutes to load, when I can load one at all. With common modern sites such as yahoo.com and ebay.com, the server usually expires before I can load a page at all. I have similar problems with e-mail.

I tried to use my laptop a few feet away from the router (in the living room of my landlady). Flow was not excellent, but it was good and consistent.

Last night, I tried to use the same computer in the lobby, about 20 feet from the router and separated by two walls. I had five bars and a very low flow.

No computer is having problems with the WiFi in my house (also using Comcast) or at my place of work.

I have a Kindle that communicates slowly but surely my rented room. It reflects the strength of signal as "good" or "fair". Another tenant uses a Kindle in the room next to me and has no problem. My owner use a MacBook and have no problem. She also has an old Windows XP machine which is connected to the router and gets a very low flow.

So, in summary, two on two Windows computers have severe with this router and only this router flow problems, regardless of the strength of the signal, unless they are literally sitting next to him. A third has problems of large flow with a wired connection. And non-windows devices three out of three have no this problem.

What happens here? Windows is just particularly poor to cope with real-world WiFi? Or is there some sort of incompatibility between Windows and this particular router or network upstream? How can I identify the problem and how can I solve this problem?

I am writing this wrap. I bought a TP - Link PA4020P Powerline adapter kit. I chose it because I think that I mentioned in a previous post: a product of brand with many not bad reviews that raised red flags when I read the comments and a rating average high. I also held a direct power connector.

I connected two adapters to two shots in my room and you press the pairing button. The lights of the fool said that pairing has been successful. I moved a lounge where the modem hangs my landlady, and presto, Instant Internet. After all I've experienced in the last two months, it was rather disappointing.

I would like to again I knew what was wrong, but since I solved the problem I can't complain too much! I recommend this to anyone in a similar situation, as long as they would be satisfied with a wired connection.

  • HP Photosmart C7280 all in one installation with windows 8.1 problems

    Hello

I have a HP Photosmart C7280 all in one printer which worked very well on wifi with Windows 8. A few days ago I got the prompt to upgrade to 8.1. Subsequently the printer would not work and I got prompt/warning message to re - install the printer software. And I went to the control panel and deleted all the old HP software, tried to re - install the last being on the HP site... nothing will do.

I tried to do a number of ways - manual download, download the HP software that determines what software is required, then it downloads for you...

It seems to start unpacking all right, but then gets stuck on "Checking system" and never progresses to something else. Help!

    Hello Cam77,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I see that you're having trouble installing your Photosmart C7280 printer after upgrading your computer to Windows 8.1.

I have included the Windows 8: the progress bar on the Software Installation stops or stalls document. It will guide you in the steps to get the installed printer.

Please let me know if you are having difficulties while doing the above. If you do, please let me know at what stage things are ugly and said error messages. Please also indicate how you have the connected printer (USB cable, ethernet or wireless). Thank you.

  • No Wifi Iconia W500 with windows 10

    Hello

I upgraded my Acer Iconia W500 from Windows 7 to Windows 10 own factory.  I made sure that I have ALL the updates from Microsoft.  Everything works great EXCEPT that I can't get Wifi to turn on.  The button to activate the Wi - Fi is grayed out. Airplane mode is NOT on.  If I go to the network settings, the slider for Wi - Fi is disabled and when I pass it on it just turns right back to the off position.  I've updated the driver Wifi for the latest driver, I could find which is Qualcomm Athereros Communications 3.0.2.181 with a driver date 12/03/2015.  I tried uninstalling the driver and the device several times and allow Windows to find the adapter again.  Whenever he recognizes the right device and installs the driver.  I even looked in the bios to see if the wireless adapter has been disabled, but it is not yet a Wifi option in there.  I tried to uncheck the 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"option in the properties of the adapter, but it doesn't help.  I don't see any errors in the event viewer (or anywhere else).  I can use the LAN adapter very well, but it doesn't make it very portable if I can't use Wifi.  Someone at - it ideas?

    Thanks for your help!

Hey there! Recently, I had this same problem on my Acer One 10 series. I've been frustrated with it for about two weeks! What had to happen, it is that the driver used to connect to wireless networks do not automatically update to a version compatible with Windows 10. In order to download the correct version, the only answers that I could find were to go to the manufacturers Web site and download a driver from there. The problem is that you can't really do that as easily without wifi.

What I suggest, is to use another computer to go to the Acer site. Click on the tab "store". Then choose your country. On the next page, scroll down to the bottom, under 'support', there is a link that says "driver downloads".

From there, enter or search for your model. Once you have selected your model, below there will be a list of driver downloads, you might need. The one you want is 'Wireless LAN'

Another computer, this download to a flash drive, then download it from the flash drive on the device with the questions. Make sure it is in a real folder, so it does not disappear when you exit the flash drive (obviously).

Once downloaded, go to the start menu and select settings. Click Update and security, and then resumed. Click restart now under "advanced startup." it will make something akin to restart, do not touch anything until it gives you the option to select "Troubleshoot".

Once you have selected troubleshoot, select 'advanced options', select 'Start settings' then 'restart', it will then take you to a list of options, select the option to disable the signature of driver backup.

Once you have selected, your device should restart. Once he does, the new driver update should be tactful and you should be able to access the internet.

It took me two weeks to understand this, all this, but the process that I wrote for you probably takes less than an hour and it actually worked.

I know that it is a batch, but it worked for me, and I hope it works for you! Good luck!

  • I tried to connect wifi with my laptop, including wireless I use for a month now, but shows only 2 blue screens without the world down on the right, and he said "unidentified network".

    "Unidentified network".

Hello, today I tried to connect to my friends wifi with my laptop, including wireless I use it for a month now and its impossible! Down right it shows only 2 blue screens without the World Cup, and he said "unidentified network"! I tried several solutions, I found online as 'install the protocols Internet 4 and 6', make sure that I have the ip auto get same restore point system and safe mode with network! Nothing works... my friend connects with his laptop and I can connect with my smartphone, except my laptop! I have windows vista... Please help me thanks

Go to: Control Panel, Manager of Devic, adapters to extend your network, click with the right button on your wireless network and click on uninstall.

Do not put a check in the box: remove the software driver for this device.

Restart your computer and Windows will install your wireless network.

If the problem persists, see if your computer manufacturer has an updated driver.

  • Intel Wimax 5350 works only with windows 7/t400

As someone who uses the Server 2008 on my desktop, when I received my t400 a few days ago I hesitated at the idea of using vista.  so I decided to download and install windows 7 64-bit (Vista 32 bit... I did an install own good... I think).  I haven't heard of anyone having problems with the drivers wireless in windows 7 and, indeed, intel States on their site that windows 7 will automatically install the drivers for the card 5350 wireless.

Unfortunately, during the installation of windows 7 was complete the drivers were not installed and I don't have access to the internet.  I therefore had to take my Office Wireless usb adapter, then plug it to access the internet.  Windows Update has not fixed the problem.  so I installed the visa of intel 64-bit drivers and windows told me that my wimax device has been recognized, the drivers have been installed, etc.

except the wireless card still does not work!  He is currently under listening network cards as area network/2 connection cable unplugged/intel wimax link 5350.  I do not understand... should not it listed as being a wireless network connect as is my usb adapter?

I think that the problem might be that in Device Manager, I don't have a driver for the controller network, serial port pci or pci simple communications controller.

It is quite frustrating and I really regret not putting more thought in this installation of windows 7.

    Thanks for the help

  • Can play.wma files fully but only seconds of .mp3 files on a home network with Windows 7 and WMP 12.0.7601 wireless

    Hello community,

I have a problem with Windows Media Player 12.0.7061 when I try to listen to music through my home network Windows 7.  Windows Media Player has no problem playing the media all types of files locally on the Windows 7 system.  On my home network, .wma files play well through the (Pioneer) wireless speaker, but .mp3 and .mp4 files only play for the first ~ 5 seconds and then the audio stops.  If I wait long enough, Windows Media Player will skip to the next song and continue to play the .wma file.

Is this a problem of DRM?  My home wireless network is too slow to allow .mp3 or .mp4 fully transmit the wireless speaker?

    Thank you!

Problem dealt with.  It's a problem of bandwidth of wireless network.

  • Problem of sound with Skype only - HP Pavilion laptop Windows 7 x 64

I have problems with the sound with Skype only - all other software that requires a sound work fine.  I don't hear my correspondent.  My Skype settings seem to agree and I get no error message.

    I run 7 x 64 window.  I have a laptop HP Pavilion G7.

    Any help?

    Hello

Sorry, you have problems. For Windows 7, try this:

Sign in to Skype. Click Tools at the top of the window, and then select Options in the menu drop-down. Click Audio settings in the left pane. Under the speakers, you can:

    • Use the Volume slider to adjust the volume.
    • Click on the arrow down in the drop-down menu to select the appropriate stakeholders.
    • Test the speakers by clicking on the green arrow next to the drop-down list of speakers.
    • Click on the link to make a free test call to make a test call.

It may be a good idea to plug a headset as a test to see if it works. You don't need a headset with a microphone; Just use any headset allows you to listen to your music on your iPod. The nice thing about using a stereo headset is that you can always talk through the microphone on your computer, but only you will hear responses from your correspondents, and is as much your comments.

Skype has a document of support practice that may help you: I can't hear my friend... (Windows desktop) .

And now, the delicate question: it is possible that your friend accidentally cut his microphone? Or what is happening with all of your calls?

  • Toshiba LX830 incompatible with Windows 10 - only streaming not possible

I have "upgraded" to Windows 10 8.1 recently and have lost the ability to send mp3 and mp4, files stored on the computer for my smart TV.

All attempts to cause an error on the PC and smart TV.

Microsoft say it is because Toshiba do not have widows 10 drivers compatible for the series of LX830 even if it is only 2.5 years old and came with already installed 8.1.

A check on the Web from Toshiba site shows that the LX830 does not appear on lists of machines planned for windows version 10 compatible drivers.

Does anyone know if additional releases of drivers will follow beyond those available to date?

The site Web of Toshiba said simply that if your model is not on the list, it is not compatible with windows 10 - which is a bit hard for a relatively new machine.

As far as I know that pilots Win 10 won't come out for units that are not part of the list.
But how did you send your mp3 / mp4 files on your smart TV?
    What link did you use?

  • NB100 3 G Ericsson F3507g works only with Windows 7

I did everything and I can't get it to work under Windows 7, although it works on Windows XP.
I already updated the firmware of the modem to the last R1D06 (I had to downgrade to XP to do it, because in windows 7, program reviews "No module" find.)
I installed the latest drivers for win 7 32 Toshiba, as well as the latest Wireless Manager (R2V2)
What is happening is as follows. I start Wireless Manager, and request the SIM PIN code. After I insert the code PIN SIM "success" icon appears. After a few seconds of this 'Success' icon the icon "the mobile broadband device is not found" is displayed briefly and then the animation "initializing the device mobile brodband" appears... After the PIN code request page back... If I insert the PIN again once I have the same story...
Can someone please help me, because it's driving me crazy?
    Thank you.
    Manuel Quinaz

    Hey Buddy,

This really strange story... I tested the modem 3G with Windows 7 and the drivers of Toshiba page. In my case it works correctly, I have problems.
The only problem I've had is that the SIM card was not recognized, but the solution was a simple reboot.

You have another SIM card that you can test? The SIM isn't working properly and to test another might be worth a try. ;)

Have you checked if the WLan switch on the side of the laptop is on? This switch activates and deactivates the WLan led. If this is not enough, I guess that there is a hardware problem. Perhaps some loose contacts, for example.
This can be corrected with any software update, I think that the technician should take a look in the notebook and should check this

First of all it s very strange that your laptop has not delivered with any Windows operating system! Each new Toshiba notebook was shipped with the Windows operating system and the image of Toshiba should be already preinstalled.
In addition, you should find the Toshiba Recovery CD in the package. This CD contains all the drivers Toshiba, tools, Windows OS and additional software!

    With regard to the pixel dead;
Usually the internal laptop display can be replaced if a large amount of dead pixels would be displayed on the screen. There is an exactly information about replacing the screen.

    Please check this:

In any case, I recommend you really clarify this two issues from your laptop dealer! The laptop must have the OS!
