F:\New Windows\ refers to a location that is unavailable.

Not too long ago, I restore my computer as long as the plant and attempted to move files from my USB drive to my computer just after it was finished boot without the Internet or anything like that. However, a couple of my folders have their names replaced with strange symbols and are inaccessible. A message appears everytime I try to open them. Here's a picture of him: http://i43.tinypic.com/rtdc08.png

I have my files saved on my drive a while before that, but I have not checked their until after I restored my computer, so I suspect that this could be the problem instead. It could be a virus, that I was infected with before that or did something happen to my computer during the restoration

Hello Tracy,.
These are indeed some strange look file "names". As the virus 'option', of course, it could be, but if it was I would expect your files to be scrambled and not just the few. You can always check by running your antivirus program on the files (most antivirus applications have a feature to allow you to test a specific file, one at a time).

So if it isn't a virus, another approach to try is using the software of data recovery on the files in question and see if they can be recovered in this way. The trick here is to install the software on a different disc in the drive you want to recover the files from (if you do not you could overwrite the same file you are trying to recover).

The program that I use and recommend is called AidFile Recovery Pro, download here (be sure to select the free version): www.aidfile.com/product.htm .

I hope this helps. Keep me posted.
Kind regards

  • Internal drive disappears after 15 minutes running ' G:/Users/SAM/Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable'... etc.

    Hey everybody,

This is my first post here, and it's because of a terrible problem that I have where one of my internal drives disappear literally just from my computer after about 15 minutes of my computer.  If I restart the computer the drive will return, but then disappear just after 15 minutes of use.  If I remove the drive and connect it to an USB hard drive docking station, it will show well here.  It's just a 250 GB SATA drive.  The only thing I can think is that I use it to store all personal files that are usually stored on the system C:\ drive.  When I installed the OS a few years ago, I went through the steps to get my data off the drive system in the event of a crash.  I doubt that could be the cause of the problem because it has worked well for a long time like that?  I remember having to do weird things in the registry or something to get the users folder to point to another drive.

The problem exists since probably almost a year now...  It got so fed up of this office that I just stopped using it and started using my macbook exclusively for about a year.  I'm starting to use this computer for backups because it can hold much more (and more numerous hard drives) that the macbook could dream to).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    -Sam

If it works in a dock and the dock is a dock motor, it is the motherboard, or a connector failed

Although G: might suggest that you have several internal hard drives and if so, you can check if the power supply is charged.

And no it's not a victory to issue.

  • "The system cannot find specified file", or "refers to a location that is not available" in my folder music Public

I have a problem with several files that I can't remove. I bought a new laptop Windows 7 a few months ago, and my music library is located in an old Mac I installed iTunes and copied everywhere, but for some reason, a couple of directories has become corrupted in the process. I was able to move a couple of them from 'C:\Users\Public\Music' to 'C:\Corrupted records' so I don't have to look at, but one of them is

refusing to move. If I try to open it, I get the message "C:\Users\Public\Music\P.O.D. refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. Make sure that the disc is inserted correctly, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the informaqtion could have been moved to another location. »

If I try to get the properties, the type of file is a folder (.) that opens with Windows Shell common. Reading alone and Invisible are unchecked. It is not shared. The requested security information are either unavailable or cannot be displayed. There are no previous Versions. I tried optimizing for music and General items.

I tried to remove it from a command line, and although he can be seen in the directory, I get an error if I try to delete or move it. I tried to delete it in Mode without failure. I tried to create another folder with the same name, and it creates a folder without end '. ", I'm able to remove, but the original is still there. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and iTunesHelper.exe cessation force.   I ran a chkdsk.  I looked in the registry. I tried to reboot in safe mode and try it. I tried to create a new account and delete from there. I tried to reset the permissions. I even deleted my entire library of music. If I try to change properties it tells me that the "system cannot find specified file."

This issue is driving me crazy... I should be able to just go and start over, but I won't be able to copy this particular music folder. I could live without it, I suppose, but I wouldn't not to-I fear that this will happen in folders more if I can't find a solution. I could ignore it, but I am too a retention... I installed servers in a previous life, and when such things happen that we do something more deep is what concerns me in particular.

    Any suggestions? Please?

Hi Zarebeth. I have the answer to your problem. The problem you are having is the same problem I had, it's a file name that ends with a '. '. (one point). That's THE problem, which has also caused all of your previous attempts remove this folder to fail. Windows does not allow you to create such a file, but Mac FACT (you mentioned that your music library lay on an old Mac)! Try for yourself, create a folder in Windows called "P.O.D." and Windows automatically re-writing this folder as "Painter" (note the last missing point). MAC doesn't have a problem with that, you can call your folder "P.O.D." witout any problem (but also allows you to call this 'Painter' folder (note the last missing point)). The only problem is when a folder created on a Mac device ends on a computer Windows, that happened when you copied the musicfolder of your Mac on your Windows 7 laptop. For example, I had the problem with music "C:\Users\Public\Music\M.I.A" and "C:\Users\Public\Music\T.I." after that I copied the files from my Ipod Touch (also a feature of Mac of course) for my new Windows 7 laptop to function.

Now, I can only tell you how to remove this folder, I don't know how to recover all the data that have remained in this "indelible" folder (if any). What you can do of course, is to return to your old Mac, rewrite the "P.O.D." folder as "Painter" (note the last missing point) which will BE recognized by your computer laptop Windows 7.

It's very simple, and you'll wonder how the sollution might actually be this simple :))

GO to "command prompt" (start > all programs > Accessories > prompt) then in the command prompt (the small black screen with white letters), you type (in your case):

    RD/s '\\?\C:\Users\Public\Music\P.O.D.

RD is as a function of deleting files (not for the files).

You will then be asked if you are sure "(Y/N)" and then of course, you type 'Y' and press enter! " And like that... begone is the folder which you so frustrated! Happy days are back! : )

    Original title: Mystery hard drive

    Hello people,

I am running Vista Business v.6.0

I did a search for any music I had on the hard drive after having transferred most of it long ago at my laptop.

I found 40 GB of music to a folder (d: /) which does not exist anywhere. I clicked on a file and clicked on "position to open the file" but got a very long message saying

J:/King Khan and the shrines / which refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or that you are connected to the internet or you check your network and try again. If he can't always find the information could have been moved to a different location

  • I pinned tabs but they don't open when I open a new window? Permenantly pinned tabs that open when you open the browser is something that is so simple and usefu

It should not necessarily be a "pin", but I wonder how to keep one eye permanently there everytime I open a new browser, as they appear.

Pinned tabs are related to a specific window and you can have a different game in each window.
You have to re-create the tabs pinned, if you want in a new window, possibly by the bookmarks in a folder (to bookmark all tabs) or set them as many home pages (a new window opens with the home pages).
Maybe there is an extension that allows to open newly opened tabs pinned in windows, so you can search the Addons site.

I think the problem is that I have included «...» "at the end of the name. I read that. "at the end of the windows files are a big problem.

The problem is off of hands, because I can't open my documents. And I can't download anything without noticing it, the file is missing.

  • Done F:\Akston\Desktop refers to a location that is not available

I don't even really know how to describe this problem.

This problem started when I got an external hard drive for Christmas. I copied my entire "My documents" folder on the external drive. I ended up having to backup and copy because I accidentally made a shortcut once and accidentally moved the whole thing once. So it's probably what is the impetus for my problems.

    How, how it manifests:

When I turn on my PC, it says that F:\user\desktop is not available. But the drive 'F' is not where everything is, and I have no idea how the F drive would somehow enter my startup or registry or whatever it is. Drive F is only affected by Windows when I connect to a mobile device (blackberry/android phone) via USB charger. I never ran anything my phone is off so I have no idea why the F drive would all of a sudden my office.

The other manifestation of some error (register?), it's also impossible for me to open any microsoft office files. Else - pdf, jpg, works very well, but no file Microsoft does open on my computer.

Every time I click on a file to open it it tells me that Microsoft cannot access ' C:\Users\Akston\...

The files are still there, is not the problem. I can copy the files on a USB key and open it on a different computer, and when I click the icon of a file .ppt file, windows displays a preview of the first slide. Then the files are there and Windows recognizes to some extent, but it will not open files from Microsoft that are on my C drive, or my external hard drive, any USB jump drive I connected or emails.

I can open MS Office programs, but not save anything because it says "an error has occurred the logon dialog box. I guess I can just try to re - install MS Office (which would be a problem because I can not find the disc), but if it's a problem of MS office, it does not explain why my startup is looking for desktop on my drive "F".

Any ideas how I can fix?

I tried a system restore to as soon as possible (while the problem), and that solves nothing. I tried to scan the discs thinking that maybe there was a corrupt file or something. I tried the Defrag. I tried spybot.

I have not tried a registry cleaner because I have read that they can do more harm that good, so I thought I'd post here for an overview.

Sorry for the long post, don't know what else to do. Thought I would try this before that I have just went ahead and bought a new computer because of what is probably a tiny, fixable error.

    Hello

    ·         What is the exact error you get when you try to open Microsoft Office applications?

    ·         Are there external drivers connected to the computer when you start on the desktop?

If so remove all connected readers and then boot to the desktop and check what is happening.

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

Try to start in safe mode and check if you are able to boot to the desktop without errors. To start in safe mode follow the link given below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

If the problem does not occur in safe mode then boot to the desktop in normal mode and check that the third-party program is causing the problem. To configure your computer to clean boot follow the link below.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Method 2:

You can use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow the link below.

1 - is the device is not detected in Device Manager?

    Step 1:

You can try to change the drive letter and check if it helps.

    Step 2:

Also check if the device is detected in Device Manager. Follow the steps to go to the Device Manager.

    a. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.

    b. Locate the device name in the list of Bus USB controllers.

    c. If you see the item on to the SD card, right-click on it and click on uninstall.

    d. restart the computer and check if that helps.
