F11 key to 'Mute' on Pavilion DV6

Hi all!

I have a problem with my laptop Pavilion:

It seems that the F11 key, which allows me also to put the speakers on "Mute" or to light no longer works! All othe function keys work perfectly but this one!

When I turn off the sound by clicking on the "icon in the taskbar for the sounds, the small LED (in the upper right of the F11 key) turns red, but when I try to simply press the F11 key to turn off the sound automatically, the only thing I get is a short blip of the light (in red color), but the sound is not disconnected!

Do you have any opinions? I would be very happy if someone could suggest a few solutions would be great!

I would also add that I keep the own keyboard, so I don't think that this is blocked by dust or other materials to get into the keyboard and causing problems!

(I hope everyone understands what the problem is that I'm not a native English speaker, and my level of English is not high!)

Thank you very much!

Sebastian Andras

Hello

Try to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT Audio driver - the procedure to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document in question on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows 7

Recovery Manager - Windows Vista

Once the relocation complete, restart the laptop.

    Hi @JazzJeffJax,

Thank you for posting. I understand that you are looking for audio driver right as the key indicator mute does not work properly. I want to help.

There is no updated driver released for Windows 10 for your model on the HP website.

You can try to delete the sound driver from Device Manager and run the Scan for hardware on the top of the window changes. Update the driver by right-clicking, and then install all Windows updates.

Or you can try using compatibility mode:

  • Pavilion Dv6: F & G transposed keys on my HP Pavilion Dv6

Hi, I just bought a HP Pavilion Dv6 of second hand and discovered the keyboard is wrong: F is where G should be and vice versa. F types G and G. F.  F clearly has a small crest, marking it as a key guide, but this title is placed wrongly. Can I fix it myself? I've seen instructions on how to replace a keyboard, but I don't know if the individual keys can be swapped around.

  • Pavilion dv6 7010tx No sound at all, put Mute key completely ineffective

    Hello

A few days ago, when I woke up my HP Pavilion laptop dv6 7010tx (running windows 8 pro 64-bit) of sleep, I noticed that he had lost all the sounds. Audio tracks cannot be played on any media player, videos play on intermittently without any audio and there is no sound regardless of the program or application running. Restart the portable computer is not the problem.

Also should be noted that the f11 key (mute) does nothing. The LED on the key is off, the volume indication appears on the screen because it didn't then change volume keys f9, f10, however it shows no mute / mute off-label as it should when working properly. I have troubleshooted the problem and I am sure that the sound card is not a problem. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    Try the following.

Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

After that you can or may not need to remove and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the driver IDT HD Audio, you need is on the link below.

    Hello

Mute key functionality is provided by IDT Audio software, so the problem may be that Windows 8 has installed a reference driver that does not contain.  Often, the Windows 7 version works Ok, so I would try downloading and installing the following driver IDT.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp48501-49000/sp48830.exe

Once the installation is complete, restart the laptop.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 laptop: how to find the windows product key

    My first question:

I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV6 584037-001 which originally had windows 7 pre-installed on it, but later, I installed windows 10. I would like to know where I can find my windows product key - please help me.

    Second question:

How can I make sure that the BIOS of my laptop will recognize a USB key, after that I installed an SSD in my laptop so that I will be able to use the USB to install an ISO Windows 7 Home Edition?

    Third question:

The ISO Windows 7 Home Edition will include all its drivers?

Hi MarcoPolo777, for the key, you can use a software called produkey.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 7095ca: no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

Thanks for your help and please excuse my bad English.
Please check item 7, if you're in a hurry. This is the point with my Pavilion DV6 - 7095-CA:

    (1) the operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), the provided original with my 7095CA Pavilion, more updates HP until 2013, and all Windows updates until July 2015.

    (2) now I can't access the operating system and I have no interface UEFI. I can see that I press F2 at startup, just a test simple disk in BIOS f.0Une (the test shows that the disc is OK)

    (3) return in 2013 it took a drive failure. I did replace the disk and reinstall original Win7, all updates, including the HPS, win7 updates and all my personal software.

    (4) at this time, I bought a spare hard drive and did a complete copy of the disc using Partition Wizard bootable cd. The second disc has been tested and worked perfectly, with all of my personal software on this subject.

So I have 2 HDs identical with the same system on both drives, fully working and tested.

    (5) a few days ago I came across the HP website and made a few updates, including the BIOS f.0Une (the last BIOS update, was of course).

    (6) after BIOS update ran, I received the message "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key".

    (7) I couldn't solve the problem, so I did remove the hard drive and install my backup drive, which lay in a dry place without danger from 2013.

    (8) I turned on the computer and got the same message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key", and I couldn't find any way to solve this problem.

Now I'm doing a new installation on a third HD everything works very well, so far, in the new facility and I will never buy HP again.

  • MUTE button on Pavilion dv6 stuck on Red

Mute my button on my laptop Pavilion dv6 is stuck.

    My p/n is N R493EA #ABU

IM in the United Kingdom... If it makes a difference I don't know...

    Help, please!

    J

You need to reinstall your sound driver. The p/n is not enough information so that I can not point stem which dv6 you have. You must give us something like this dv6 - _ _ _ _ and then it will be followed by two letters representing your country.

Here is a link where it can be listed.

    http://h20180.www2.HP.com/apps/lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-002&h_query=DV6+Pavillion+N+R493EA%23ABU&submit=go+%BB

Tick the box to the wide support and drivers and enter your model number, as described and it should bring up the information for your specific laptop.

    http://welcome.HP.com/country/UK/en/support.html

I want to save the file, I need desktop page, then unpack it from there. If your laptop shows you that the file already exists ' click on ' the box that says "Yes to all", let it install and reboot your machine.

Be sure to choose your appropriate operating system. Update the Audio driver should solve your problem. I guess they call it your "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver.

  • Pavilion dv6-1140ew: 1140ew button Mute and the wireless button disappeared

My Mute button and the wireless button disappeared. They are neither orange nor blue, they are not highlighted.

I did my Lalonde normal and regular cleaning. With the help of the manual I disasembled the phone until I could access the fan/heatsink and clean it with air preasured. After reassembling the laptop, I discovered that the two buttons are not appearing on the cover of the switch. I thought that I must have failed to plug something properly, but after checking twice, I am sure that everything is as it should be. The wireless card works perfectly, so are the speakers. The computer turns on automatically (I'm actually hit him), wifi works perfectly (well, I'm on it) scrolling volume works ok, so media buttons. But everything I try, I cannot get the Mute and buttons wireless to work once more.

    Any help would be welcome.

    PS.

I tried the hard reset, with deactivation of all sources of power. Does not work.
