  If you are referring to push notifications on your desktop, you most likely have Facebook as an internet account on your MacBook. You can withdraw from your account, or disable notifications for it.

  Open system preferences > Internet accounts

  Select Facebook

  Uncheck the Notifications tab to disable the notifications or click on the "-" button to remove the account

  Thank you. I think I've isolated the problem on AdBlock. I solved it by clicking the AdBlock logo on my Foxfire browser when on the Facebook Messages page and selecting "report this page". AdBlock has identified two filters that could be the problem. I disabled one, but it was disable the second filter recommended by AdBlock that did the trick. It has to do with blocking the ads "sponsored." Fortunately, the resolution leaves the word "Sponsored" but still block all images in advertising. Yippee - good for AdBlock have this feature of the resolution. I hope this works for others affected.

  If you are using the latest version of AVGFree, you might have this problem. Open the AVG Interface, just click Link Scanner, click on Tools/Advanced Settings and uncheck the checkbox next to
  «Add link secure scan to Facebook/Myspace...» ». I hope this helps.

  Whenever I get an email notice that somebody posted on my wall on Facebook, I click to open the e-mail message and Outlook Express crashes.  Soluto says it's probably because of the nesplitter.ax file.  I can't locate this file on my computer.  Any suggestions on how to stop this crash?

  It is a known issue with certain mail such as OE clients, given Facebook emails do not conform to the standards of the Internet.  The only way around is to read Facebook messages in plain text only.  So if you get one, before you open it, go to tools | Options | Read and verify the ability to read messages in plain text only, then you can read the message without it crashing.

  You can also get my free OETool (www.oehelp.com/OETool/) program, which has a button that toggles this option of HTML / plain text.

  Alternatively, you can set up a message rule that if the message comes from Facebook, then move it to another folder.  Before going into this folder to read the messages, turn the read plain text messages option.

  If I select one at a time to remove, I have more success, but try to delete more than one time always fails.

  From your home screen, open your Messages folder, press the menu key, select display folder then Facebook Messages.  Highlight the date at the top with your trackpad, and press the menu button again.  Now select delete prior and Yes.  Unfortunately, your messages may still be there, but we're not yet done!  Now remove the battery while your phone is on and replace it a few seconds later.

  More often as otherwise, that will remove all of your facebook messages.  Let us know if that helps.

  I have a facebook message, and I can't delete it from my message file. Don't delete message highlighted, you press X. Went to the date above message (6 messages in list) click on "before delete" all messages deleted except this one. At out the battery, benchset 15 minutes relocated - still here. Deleted Facebook account - Gone.  Reinstalled Facebook - she came back. Anyone have any ideas?

  Go to the Facebook account on your computer and make sure that all messages are deleted, and then try again once the battery pull.

  If you read the comments on the web page, so that you have posted a link, it seems that Facebook took away the ability to access messages.

  I can't use the menu broad share points system. that is, I do not share to FaceBook, Twitter, Messages, LinkedIn, Airdrop etc etc. I can after several attempts of actions by e-mail.

  I get a window with images or notes or anything loaded in it, but has soon as I try to enter text or select and album in FaceBook for example or 'send' or even 'Cancel' the window freezes. Can I use other applications and if I go back to the window that it froze, but as soon as I click on it anyway it freezes. This happens in the Finder, in pictures, in all Notifications etc...

  I don't remember what happens before El Capitan.

  It's very frustrating.

  Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone working on a solution?

  Run the Console application in one of the following ways:

  ☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

  ☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

  ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

  The title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

  SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

  in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

  List of newspapers seen ▹ display

  in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

  Click on the clear view icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that does not work the way you expect. Select all of the lines that appear in the Console window. Copy to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

  I'm having the same problems with messages, Facebook, windows live mail from freezing.  It seems that microsoft may have these problems for decades yet, so could you tell me how to connect to Tech. in China, which are far more advanced and faster to solve the problems of this kind.  Or you could replace my system to windows 7 with one that doesn't have this problem, because that's what I paid, I'll send you my system you can see the problem at first hand, your home.

  It's rather funny that blame you Microsoft for the fact that Facebook is in shape his e-mails, as they are not complying with the standards of the internet.  Somehow it's Microsoft's fault for the bug of Facebook?  It's hilarious.

  Workaround for the bug of Facebook is to read their messages in plain text only and which will crash then no Microsoft bug of Facebook program.
