Facing Pages and maintain all spreads

Hello

Sometimes we need to produce a lot of coverage and delivery options so needs flexibility as to what is a gap, and what is a single page - and the ability to choose on the fly.

Facing pages works ever really because if you drag three pages down as coverage options, you have no choice but to let InDesign turn them into blocks spread.

In CS3, which work around we found was the keep spreading all option but we can't really find out where it has gone to CS4. How people get around the feature by default to have something more useful?

Note: we have never really understood why something so simple must be so complicated (perhaps some of the Illustrator team became involved at this stage of the development process!) and we hope that's not something you change each time that you create a new document.

Any help would be appreciated.

See you soon

The function is still there, but the name was changed to frustrate the innocent. Select a spread, and then in the Panel menu clear allow selected spread mix.

  • 78 pages and 40 printer spreads. Possible offset printing?

I wonder if my brochure is configured correctly. Hope you can help.

Its size is DIN A4 (210x297mm). The corresponding printer spread is 420 x 297 mm.

My document has obtained 78 pages and 40 printer spreads - according to InDesigns drop down menu page.

Looks like it's possible to print in offset printing. True?

The first and last page is just the back of the printer 'other', expanded after that. Someone told me that I can't print that, because each printing must be divisible by 4. But in the end most are the "spreads" printer - I think

So what is right? Is it possible to print a 78 with 40 page booklet spreads?

No, if it is saddlestitched... unless you have a paper back, of course.

  • Print the best configuration of work - inside edge crosstalk between facing pages?

I am putting together a 32pp A4 report with InDesign CS3 that will be printed to PDF in China. I am based in the United Kingdom, and I will pass the file to printing electronically. I speak some Chinese, but my client has an office in China and a member of their staff (non-expert graphics) will be the man in the middle.

For now I'll implement my document with facing pages and 5mm of eave. I remember a recent UK print job by using the same configuration of document that when I got out in PDF format to use the settings from bleed paper is TICKING, the Printing Office has complained that the images that filled one side of the A4 and served outside/top/bottom of the page not to bleed inside. I asked them how to give them what they need and they said "spreads" face should be 'divided into single pages"before I made the PDF - this would purge on all 4 sides. I didn't know how to do that and maintain the facing pages for me to design in a way spread by spread, so I asked them. They could not tell me, so I left as it was. In the end they had to cut the pages a little more inside to get rid of any white paper.

I'm very keen to avoid any problems at all with this print job, if I want to get the installation program and treat just in my head from the start.

So my question: How can I configure this document in order to minimize the problems of the printer? I don't mind if it means another process before exporting it, I don't know what that might be.

    Thank you very much.

You certainly don't need to split the spreads for binding, but it would be a good idea to include the same value for bleeding from the inside

as bleeding out. I think that what you are not understanding is that if you don't have line of purge showing bleeding inside, if you export a purge of 5mm for the inside value, you will get a portion of 5 mm of the opposing page - which is all you need for binding or stitching seat. If you did another piece of spiral, you need to split the pages and create a bleed around each page, because you don't want the opposing page showing a trimmed of Miss page. On perfect binding, the inside edge is not noticeable and is right next to the opposing page, so bleeding that doesn't matter as long as you have a bleeding it to avoid a white line is on a miss-plate (if you are printing colors all the way to the gutter). On the bite on horseback, the pages are actually laidout side by side, so inside gutter will not be used, but it is good to provide for prepress purposes.

    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot export to single pages facing pages

    Hello

I have a 60 page document + that I created to deal with pages. It is a magazine, so I had to work in spread because much graphics extend over two pages.

My problem is that I was invited to make the final PDF file 'single page' - spreads. Each page must be hers.

I tried to turn off the coast facing pages under the heading "Configuration document", but it did not split graphs that spans two pages (IE, I have a header that covered two pages and when I turn off 'facing pages', the header is attached to the 'left' page and space where half right of the image should be is not in the "right" page.) I understand that it is an object, but there should be a way for her to 'split').

I can't find another way to transform the export of single pages. I either export it to PDF and get "spreads" (two pages face-to-face somehow transformed into a long page) or I lose half of my content.

I'd appreciate any help - it's a huge head and rather sensitive time.

(By the way, I had this problem once before, when I was more inexperienced.) I did save two versions of the file: 1 vote against and facing pages and the other with facing pages turned off. Then I copied the 'spread' from the 'facing pages' file and pasted on the page "right hand" of the non-pages file (it's the cut part of the graphcis that spans two pages). I don't know if I explained that very well. It of obviously awkward, takes a LOT of time and spatial memory (which causes my system to slow down a lot), and I found myself with a couple of headers that were a couple milimeters off. I feel that I'm totally missing something: I think that the duty to spread fashion design and have the file finished in simple pages would be a common thing to do).

I'm starting to see a trend where new users seem not to grasp the concept of what is a "page", and what is a gap. A page's layout unit, that you specify in the settings of the documents, if arranged as connected or not. A gap is a page or group of pages that are accessed by side (the first page of a book is laid out as a single page spread, for example, with pages double suite). Spreads are constructed from the pages and are a convenient way to work, allowing you to see that a reader will see in a finished printed publication and work in related pages in a single view, but they do not have magical powers to change the size of the page, just because you're looking at the two pages together.

Pages in spreads remain independent pages. They can be moved to new locations without moving their companions, and when you print or export (with the exception of the interactive PDF in CS5 or later) by default, you get simple pages, no matter how they could be organized on the screen. You define documents as pages face to face time to display the "spreads" as a unit while you work and be able to create a "handedness" in the provision, i.e. pages that are distinctly to the left or right clearly, based on the number of page. This means that you can have different margins or headers and feet, or other objects as the color bars on the two halves of your broadcast, and that these things can be put on the master pages to apply automatically.

If you start using pages face to face, your default master page is a double page that can accommodate this handedness. If later, you go to the preparation of the Document and uncheck the facing Pages to break out "spreads" you also lose the ability to use the left side of your master page and and if there is no asymmetry in your layout will be lost, and your document will be destroyed, then uncheck face pages prior to export is both unnecessary and a very bad thing to do.

STIX said, if you export PDFS for printing, there is nothing special at all you need to do to get the unique pages. Just make sure that you did not check the box of spreads. Interactive is a little different. The box was apparently omitted design with the default state set to export pasta to spread (sometimes the engineers do not understand how we work as designers), but there are two approaches to the problem of spreads for export unique to interactive PDF pages. Script he mentions is easy and practical and changes the State of the missing box and is probably what you want, but it is also possible to "split" a spread in individual left and right spreads errors and they will export this way regardless of the State of the checkbox. "" The method is described in InDesignSecrets "Blog Archive" Pages Breaking Apart to bleed off the coast a spine

One caveat, however, using the "spreads" split, is that objects that cross the spine are on one page or the other when you are done, not on both pages, so you must copy the and paste in Place where they are absent on the opposite side.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Hi NWKCA,

some of your spreads went "corrupt", I think.
Something is wrong with the coordinate space of the spread.

    I would try the following:

1 export the document to the IDML

2 open the IDML and save under a new name

    If the problem persists:

    1. Add a few new spreads after one that works well.

    2. go to the premiere, which is "corrupt" and showing his 'infinitely' small content:

    3. Select the content using a bounding box with the selection tool (black arrow).
Important: Do not use the command menu select.

    4 copy your selected content.

    5. go to the first release you added and do stick in Place.

If it works, continue with the rest of the "corrupt" spreads
Then delete all the "spreads" "corrupt" and make a "Save as" for the document under a new name.

    Kind regards
    Uwe

I think that your posToInsertAt for IPageCmdData::Set is incorrect.

    If the doc does not have facing Pages, posToInsertAt = 1;

    If doc is facing Pages and page insertion is the left-hand Page, posToInsertAt = 2;

  • How to replace the element on the page master on master spread [JS CS5]

    Hi all

There is a big media (scripts) on how to replace the element template on a page of a specific document, but my problem is, I've added new Master spread based on a further propagation where newly added distributed Master I need to replace all the elements to master basic page.

    pageItems [curPageItem] .override (destinationPage)

works well if you replace the elements of master page on the pages of a document, but what works for replace page elements master master page for example

    pageItems [curPageItem] .override (destinationMasterPage)

    Thank you

    Mac

Similar code worked for me (in CS4 - the machine, I had very practical is the one I use to accompany clients on older versions). Are you sure that your destinationMasterPage is a page and not a spread? This would cause a failure.

  • How to create a master page and detail? Insert > object missing panel data

    Hello

So I created a database, and I want to read data from the database table. I want when someone clicks on an element of the database to get on a new page and see all the other information on this element. I looked for how to do this and found the master page and detail 'system '. But for this I need an option in the Insert > data panel, the master and detail Page set option. And that's the problem, actually there is no sign of 'data' in the insertion bar in my Dreamweaver product. I use Dreamweaver CC 2015, Windows 8.1

Is there another possibility to create the master page and detail?

If you are coding manually, you need not to buy extensions.

If you don't code manually, you can do it.

  • Question about the bleeding and facing pages.

    Hello

I'm in trouble with my first InDesign document which is a 96-page Magazine. It will be printed on sheets A3 stapled in the middle. My impression of the guy said it's ok in the form of A4 pages with 3 mm overhang.

So now when I try to export in pdf print (I check the brand I want to use the documents of bleeding parameters) exports with the sections on the left and right pages (left page exported with? I guess than 3 mm? bleed from the right page and so on). If I replace the parameters bleeding and I set to 0mm it is all ok, but I fear that certain images or text could get cut because I have everything with the substantive benchmarks lost in indesign.

And I can't uncheck pages face to face since I have some graphs (graphs and so on) that spread from one page to another (on the same spread).

My question is... I can do and always use the bleeding or (ignore "inside the bleeding' or something) or is it OK to use the export as a spreadsheet instead of individual pages because he wanted pages A4?

Any help for a beginner would be appreciated. Thank you.
