fail... new ios 10 on my Iphone 5... Can not stop apps

I used to be abled double-click Home and then slide apps when I have too much running.  BUT... now I can't double-click, triple-click, clicks fast, slow, whatever.  I only kill the apps if I completely turn off my phone.

I'm really tired of 2nd phone immediately turned off by the updates... it might be time to get an Android phone... right at my expectations are lower.

Hello daugmangregg,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It's my understanding that since the update of your iPhone to iOS 10, you have been unable to force applications to close. It is important to be able to force close apps. I'm happy to help you.

As the problem persists after restarting, it is possible, that the software is the cause. I recommend reinstall iOS. Although this step can be done without deleting your data, it's a good idea to back up your content first. Use the link below to back up assistance:
The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Once you have correctly saved. Follow the steps below to put your iPhone into recovery mode and set it up again:

  1. Make sure you use the latest version of iTunes.
  2. If iTunes is already open, close it. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple for help.
  3. When your device is connected, restart of strength with the following steps:
    • On an iPhone 6s and earlier, the iPad or the iPod touch: press and hold buttons sleep/wake and Home at the same time. Don't release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Hold the two buttons until you see the screen in recovery mode.
    • On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 more: press and hold the sleep/wake buttons and the Volume at the same time. Don't release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Hold the two buttons until you see the screen in recovery mode.
  4. When you see the option restore or update, choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Please wait while iTunes downloaded the software for your device. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and the device out of recovery mode, let the download is finished, and then repeat these steps.
  5. After the update or restore is complete, configure your device.

If you are unable to update or restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Have a wonderful day!
