Failed to retrieve a CD in Windows Media Player

original title: the windows media player 12

The Windows media player 12 will not rip Cd, it did in the past but now says it cannot extract one or more tracks on the CD. I use Windows 7.
I pulled most of my CD with no problems, and I checked to make sure that the CD I am ripping are not protected against copying.

Does anyone have an idea as to what can happen to windows media player?
I'd appreciate any ideas or assistance that may be useful, thanks in advance, Peter

I stop Streaming Windows Media Network Service and deleted all the files under the directory of the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media - new player did nothing.

I ran SFC and although he finds something it does not solve the issue.

I am now at a loss for what is the problem. Nothing has changed on my system for ages (beyond the Windows updates) so I think it's a corrupted file, but I do not know now how to solve this problem. Help someone? Books in the library and existing content once but I cannot add new records to the music, photos or film libraries as it says there is a problem.

FYI - using Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit)

I have not ran the regsvr32 cmd as administrator, so no luck there and I do not use WMP plugins of any kind. To be honest, I don't use WMP as the machine is purely a media library if 99% of the time that I can access via the MC7 10 ft UI.

In any case - gave up on it and completely reinstalled from scratch this weekend and its working fine again. I just hope that the problem does not happen.

  • Failed to retrieve CD - "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. ..."

original title: rip for Media Player problem.

My media player won't let me RIP cd in my library. When I try it gives me a box that says "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you try to read, burn or sync an item that is in your library, the element can point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted. "I thought that the solution may have something to do with me going in the rip settings > more options > and hit"change"under"rip music to this location", because the box under where I am assuming that the location will has nothing in it, but when I click on it it does nothing.

    Hello

During the extraction process, the Media Player makes a copy of each song, stores it on your hard drive as a file Windows Media Audio (WMA) or MP3 compressed and then add it to your library. Check in the library, if the files are present.

  • When you start Windows Media Player I get error: "Server execution failed".

    Hello

When I try to start Windows Media Player by double-clicking an audio or video file, I get the error "Server execution failed" for this file. Can someone tell me what this means and what I can do about it?

    Thank you

    Christi

    Hi Christi,

You may receive this error if you try to open a file media shortly after the closing of Windows Media Player (WMP).  When you close WMP, the user interface is closed immediately, but WMP continues to be in a State of "shutting down" for a few seconds, and the process is still in activity during this period.

To avoid this problem it should be enough to wait a few seconds before Windows Media Player opens, 2 seconds at least.

    3) click on the driver tab, and then click set to update driver.

  • Problem with Windows Media Player: "Server execution failed" and "files needed to display video are not installed or do not work properly.

I have a problem with Windows Media Player on laptop Lenovo G780. My laptop is under warranty (bought a month ago), but technical support Lenovo told me that the Windows Media Player program is not covered by the warranty.

    And this is a problem:

When I click on Windows Media Player - to about 0.1 sec I see it opens and closes the window and nothing happens.

When I select a mp3 or wmv file and right-click with the option open with Windows Media Player - I get a message: "Server execution failed" - I checked that all services with 'Media' in the name are running.

When I select a mp3 or wmv file and right-click with the open option with Windows Media Center - Windows Media Center opens with the message: "the files needed to display video are not installed or do not work properly.

When I select a file mp3 or wmv and right-click with option open with Windows Movie Maker life - see the video

Tried to run as administrator - did not help
I don't see something suspicious under events

    What can I do else?

    Thank you

I had the same problem and then by chance, I tried a video on YouTube and it worked for me. Here's how I went on this issue and solved my problem:

    1. go to the computer, then OS (C).
    2. you will need to open Program Files (x 86) and Program Files.
    3. go to Windows Media Player in Program Files (x 86) and open the folder.  Then, remove the wmplayer file.  You may need to work around the error TrustedInstaller.  I'll tell you that, in a moment.
    4. in Program Files, go to the same folder for Windows Media Player and select the same file again. Wmplayer.  Copy the file in another window open.  Copy ensures that if the question comes up again you can at least try to fix it again.
This should be the end of your problem.  If you need to circumvent the TrustedInstaller question is how:
    1. right click on wmplayer and select Properties > Security > advanced > owner > Edit > other users and groups.
    2. Enter your username and then click on check names.  Click OK.
    3. close the dialog boxes as he has requested.
    4. open again the properties and click Security.  Select your username from the list and click on edit.  From there, select full control.
This should give you full control over the removal of the original file for WMP and easily allow you to copy the other files (x 86) programs.
Please let me know how it goes for your problem.
