failed to update Vista sp 2

I tried 4 times to upgrade to Vista Home Premium sp2 via Microsoft Update service.  Whenever it is said that it has installed successfully, machine stops, restarts, and then comes to "some Cound changes don't not Be Completed, restoration, etc.»

I tried update readiness tool and found no problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530
1.8 processor Pentium Dual GHZ
2.0Gig RAM

Any advice?  Had no other update problems.

Thank you.

Tom

Hello

Thanks for posting your question.

1. first remove the temporary files on the computer. By clicking Start > run: type Temp, and then delete all files in the temp folder. Do the same with '%temp% ' & 'Prefetch '.

2. now the second stage would be a spyware scanner. Try Malware Bytes click here & make sure that you update the program before performing a scan.

3. now, since the Microsoft Download Service Pack 2 Web site

Note: If you can uninstall the program Antivirus on the computer at the moment that would be useful, after the upgrade to SP2, you can reinstall the Antivirus or Antispyware product.

4 restart the computer using safe mode: help to start safe mode, click here

5. Start Safe Mode Setup

Hope it will help

  • Failed to update Vista 64; Error 80070020

Update downloaded and installed all the updates except the update for Vista x 64, which it downloaded but cannot install giving error code 80070020.  When I checked the link of monitoring/troubleshooting it showed suggestions for example by ensuring that the license agreement has been agreed to.  I can't even to such a window.  A querry in this forum for the error code 80070020 has not produced a single blow.  That should win me a toaster or something for originality, shouldn't it.  I have a Dell laptop running a Core 2 Duo P8600 with 4 GB ram and HDD 320 g, with most of that open.  Any helpful suggestions would be highly appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hello

    1. what happens when you try to install updates?

2 are you able to install some other updates?

    3. do you get an error message?

Method 1: Put the computer in a clean boot State before updates

Note: After installing the updates, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 2: Temporarily disable any security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Download and install the 1 kb/2533523 for the .NET Framework 4 reliability update

  • Satellite A300-1IK - impossible to update Vista

    Hello

I recently reset my Satellite A300 to its default values by using the utility HDDRecovery. Now, the OS is Vista Home Premium SP1, but I'm not able to update vista drivers or get the upgrade to SP2, so I was struck with my SP1 default.

I tried installing updates with automatic update, or manually checking the updates under "Windows Update" options. I have achieved anything with the first method (planned updates begin at all), while with the second method when I click on the button "Search for updates", it tells me "impossible to verify new updates; CODE ERROR 80072EFE»
So I tried to download the executable update packages microsoft official to their download area, but all fail to install.
What am I supposed to do?

    Thanks in advance, Alessandro

    Hi caiusteblack,

    > So I tried to download the executable update packages microsoft official to their download area, but all fail to install.
    Pack update that you downloaded?

Of way General if SP1 is already installed you can begin with the installation of SP2 for Vista but SP1 must be installed in the first place. SP2 is available for download on the official site of Microsoft (no Windows Update). Download SP2 and run the install and check what is happening.

I don't know what the problem is here, but if you're not able to load Vista using F8 and safe mode, then there must be a serious problem.
I think the best solution for you is to install Vista using recovery media delivered.

    Hi William,.

First try the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.

If this does not work, try this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100.

While I'm not quite certain that the first will succeed, the second is a common and often recommended solution that has helped a lot with this error code.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hello

    ·        What type of internet connection do you have?

    ·        You try to make the automatic updates or manual updates?

    Method 1:

If it is still stuck on the installation of update page, thenrestart the computer and choose boot normally and check what is happening. If you enter Windows and not all updates have been installed, you can install the updates one at a time and see if one of them is having a problem. See the Windows updates are installed

    Method 2:

So, everything has not updated, then try todownload and install the stand-alone package with updates from the Microsoft Download Center.

    (a) download updates from the Microsoft download Center:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

    (b) enter the item in the field number search and download the same.

Note: Before you install the updates, configure your computer in aclean boot State. Once you have finished installing the updates, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.
