Fails to PI 2.0 Configuration Archive Cisco Nexus 5000

Hello

We have recently improved Cisco IP from 1.3 to 2.0 and I thought that this problem would be resolved, but he did not. I added two switches 5548 Nexus I can monitor and configure via Cisco first but I am not able to read the boot och running configuration to the Configuration Archive. When I start work, I get the following error:

"device fig: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out".

Current NXOS: 5.2 (1) N1(2a)

Before troubleshooting I would just answer if it should be possible to archive the Nexus to Cisco configs first Infrastructure?

See you soon! Mattias Andersson

Yes, I do it with success on a couple of first 2.0 facilities. My case later included NX - OS - 5548UP and 5596UP 5.2 (1) N1 (4) running and 6.0 (2) N2(1b).

  • Configuration of Cisco Nexus

Hi, wondered about the Configuration of the Cisco Nexus 100v.

First of all, the MSM will have three vNIC used to:

    1. the Control Interface - NIC1

    2. Management Interface - NIC2

    3 packet Interface - NIC3

The management interface is on the same VLAN as VMconsole (service console) because it is used to communicate with vCenter and ESX hosts for management traffic?

Addresses IP should be assigned for control and packet Interfaces?

    Thank you

When you use L3 control we encapsulate the control traffic and the package on the default management interface. Only IP you need is the IP address that you have assinged to the management interface 0. Interfaces and control packets never get used and never need a IP address.

  • Using SNMP to monitor Cisco Nexus 5000

    Hello

I would like to know what specific OID to use to monitor the following using SNMP on a Nexus 5000:

    -L' total CPU usage

    -Power supply status

    -Status of Fan chassis

The Nexus is quite different from other devices Cisco - any help will be appreciated!

CPU: oid to use is: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.305.1.1.1 (cseSysCPUUtilization) is a part of the MIB:

    CISCO-SYSTEM-EXT-MIB

It displays the value as a percentage of the processor.

ME-TestBed-A (nxos) # display system resources

    Load average: 1 minute: 0.26 5 minutes: 0.41 15 minutes: 0.43

As you can see, show sys resources indicates 95% idle, valuation is 5% cpu and the snmp poster value.

Power and Fans, it is fairly limited

The cisco mib envmon is not yet supported on the 5K, looks like.

Take for example (look at the file

    in the Module fixed-1"

That means now the INTEGER 2 from:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2.22 = INTEGER : 2

    Lets look at: CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB-V1SMI.my, section

cefcFRUPowerOperStatus, if you are looking for in this file you will find: we (2),

That measn this controller is actually turned on and powered.

  • Configure ports on Nexus 5000/2000 for the grouping of network server adapters

    Hello

I have two Nexus 5000 and Nexus two, 2000.  The 5000 s are peers of vpc.  I would like to connect my server with cluster NIC in a port on each 2000 and all have both be active.  Is this possible?  What are the steps?  I thought it should be this:

    CPR_NEXUS_5K01 (config) # int eth100/1/32

    CPR_NEXUS_5K01(Config-if) # channel - group 32

    CPR_NEXUS_5K01 (config) # int eth101/1/32

    CPR_NEXUS_5K01(Config-if) # channel - group 32

    on the Nexus two.

The two directories (in the extensions directory and maps project directory) have permissions to 777.

But you gave me an idea...

It turns out that simply by putting

in setting output wasn't enough, I need the full path

  • Configuring the Cisco UCS 5108 ports

    Hi all

I'm new in the world of the Cisco UCS server and am setting up Cisco UCS 5108 blade server. The server has two Cisco UCS 6324 interconnections fabric I did the initial Setup on and I try to configure the ports for the blades. Looking through the various articles and tutorials after setting global policies, I see the whole world establishment of uplink and server ports. What I read the uplink ports are plugged directly into the switches (I work with two cisco nexus switches), and server ports are used to connect to the chassis.

I wonder once the configured ports server what exactly are supposed to connect to? I assumed they would also connect to the switch nexus with the uplink ports. However, every time I set up the server ports and plug them in, the switch doesn't seem to have flooded and we lose all connectivity. If I unplug, the connection is restored almost immediately.

The current configuration, that I work with is two ports uplink on each fabric interconnect (4 2 total in each switch of nexus), two server ports on each (4 2 total, in every nexus switch). The only other element connected to the nexus switches is a SAINT who will be configured as a boot and storage of the UCS 5108.

Looks like you have a Mini UCS (6324), with 4-port 10 GB (each FI/IOM) with port QSFP 40 GB that can provide network connectivity linking rising, or if configured as a server port, could be used to connect to a server in a rack compatible Cisco UCS, or connect to a 5108 additional with IOM 2204XP chassis.  The blades installed in your initial 5108 chassis 6324 FI/IOM of housing have internal connectivity to the FIs / IOM without the need to configure ports 'server'...

Please take a look at some of the visuals in the datasheet below.

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/UCS-6300-series-fabric-interconnects/datasheet-C78-732207.html

Unified ports can also be configured as a FC ports for connectivity of FC switch upstream or directly related to CF Storage processors.

After having watched the datasheet, let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll try to address them.

You'll not need actually configure ports such as ports 'server' unless you connect servers in a rack.

Please configure any ethernet SFP type connected to your switches nexus upstream as 'network' uplinks.  I guess that you don't plan on a disjoint config layer 2 (where each FI has several sets of uplinks will different devices upstream, or the same device with different VLANS allowed on each link).    If you are, we can have a separate thread about how you need to configure that.

    Thank you

    Kirk...

  • MS NLB Multicast configuration on Cisco Bladecenter switches mode

We seek to MS NLB Multicast configuration on Cisco Bladecenter switches mode. We are adding static ARP and CAM entries for each port on the switches kernel that

the Bladecenters are connected to, or just the port of the virtual machine arrives at

push traffic at this time here? If we add it to a single port,

How vmotion will work... because it seems that we have to manually

transfer the arp from one port to the other entry.

We add the static ARP entry to the entire Cisco switch. If you can VMotion VMs NLB to another host that is physically connected to another switch, then this switch have thus added ARP entry. We have not tested the configuration only on the specified ports. But if you do, make sure that you include all the ports connected to the physical switch (if for DS you have four natachasery configured in a vSwitch...).

Here's a guide to how we have configured it several times in our society.

I have a .air program on nearly 400 PCs in the field.  I have an upgrade I want to broadcast in silence.    I can get the new slots automatically .air file.  I would like to run a batch file that will install and click the button "Replace" when he discovers that an old version is already out there.

Therefore, I have included the Adobe Air Application Installer.exe in the download, I created a batch file that does this:

    "Adobe AIR Application Installer.exe" - silent - eulaAccepted - desktopShortcut "C:\Program Files (x86)\MascoVSC\vscassets\program\VSC.air.

It works perfectly when the old version isn't on the machine, but if this is the case, I get the error: "failed because of the wrong configuration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Switch Cisco Nexus 6004 removes more than 300 bytes IP packets

    Hi all

We have a circuit of wave level 3 10 G running between two switches Cisco Nexus 6004. The circuit came online between our two data centers (in the same city) without problem.

When attempting to ping to the remote-end 10G interface, it works very well with packets of 64 bytes. CDP is enabled and that we see the CDP information remote switch. However, if we increase the size of the ping to more than 300 bytes packets, we lose 1 in every 20.

We settings MTU verifed, type of cable of 10G and duplex settings.

Level 3A tested clean and we will move forward with more testing.

Any ideas on the problem? We feel the carrier out and end to test with their testers. But so far, the circuit's own test. I was not sure if it is something related to Cisco. I am at a loss at the moment.

    Thank you.

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

There is nothing wrong with your switches or circuit.  NEXUS devices have a default COPP on the control plan that limit the size and the amount of traffic that must be the CPU process.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/Datacenter/SW/6_x/NX-OS/security/configuration/guide/b_Cisco_Nexus_7000_NX-OS_Security_Configuration_Guide__Release_6.x_chapter_011001.html

  • Cisco Nexus 1000V Virtual Switch Module investment series in the Cisco Unified Computing System

    Hi all
I read an article by Cisco entitled "Best practices in Deploying Cisco Nexus 1000V Switches Cisco UCS B and C Series series Cisco UCS Manager servers" http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps9902/white_paper_c11-558242.html

A lot of excellent information, but the section that intrigues me, has to do with the implementation of module of the VSM in the UCS. The article lists 4 options in order of preference, but does not provide details or the reasons underlying the recommendations. The options are the following:

    ============================================================================================================================================================
Option 1: VSM external to the Cisco Unified Computing System on the Cisco Nexus 1010

In this scenario, the virtual environment management operations is accomplished in a method identical to existing environments not virtualized. With multiple instances on the Nexus 1010 VSM, multiple vCenter data centers can be supported.
    ============================================================================================================================================================

Option 2: VSM outside the Cisco Unified Computing System on the Cisco Nexus 1000V series MEC

This model allows to centralize the management of virtual infrastructure, and proved to be very stable...
    ============================================================================================================================================================

Option 3: VSM Outside the Cisco Unified Computing System on the VMware vSwitch

This model allows to isolate managed devices, and it migrates to the model of the device of the unit of Services virtual Cisco Nexus 1010. A possible concern here is the management and the operational model of the network between the MSM and VEM devices links.
    ============================================================================================================================================================

Option 4: VSM Inside the Cisco Unified Computing System on the VMware vSwitch

This model was also stable in test deployments. A possible concern here is the management and the operational model of the network links between the MSM and VEM devices and switching infrastructure have doubles in your Cisco Unified Computing System.
    ============================================================================================================================================================

As a beginner for both 100V Nexus and UCS, I hope someone can help me understand the configuration of these options and equally important to provide a more detailed explanation of each of the options and the resoning behind preferences (pro advantages and disadvantages).

    Thank you
    Pradeep

No, they are different products. vASA will be a virtual version of our ASA device.

ASA is a complete recommended firewall.

  • Cisco Nexus 3548/3524 SNMP Interface traffic problem

    Hi all!

I would like to share with you the problem I've encountered SNMP interface respect tracking on the Cisco Nexus 3500 of traffic devices.

We is transferring our network infrastructure in the Nexus and we encountered a problem with the interface bitrate of tracking traffic on Nexus 3548: deltas SNMP counter ifHCInOctets and ifHCOutOctets show no valid data.

We have investigated this issue and figured he could be linked with the refresh rate of the meter.
I measured, by snmpwalk, the time between simple increments the counter ifHCInOctets to Interface VLAN and it apears to about 140seconds. But for physical interfaces (Eth), the interval of interface SNMP counters are 15 seconds and with sampling frequency of the 1960s for the queries we can still observe the problems on graphs (see attached screnshot).

We get the same results when testing the question on various physical devices (3548 Nexus) on versions of different software - including the last being.

And for Ethernet interfaces (same NMS - ZABBIX-config):

We tested a wide Huawei s6700 switches and the range of Cisco IOS devices and there is no such problems.

The main problem is that we cannot monitor our crucial nexus, via SNMP devices (as you can see from the attached chart).  Results are the same when configure us Cacti or Zabbix to monitor Nexus devices.

The results of this monitoring not having meritorical value or use.

We are working on this case with Cisco TAC, and they manage to reproduce the problem in their LAB environment. But for now, they cannot provide any solution and they claim that this isn't a bug. If we get any final statement for this case, I'll post here for your information.

I'll be more than happy if you can post ideas that help me solve the problem described.

    Thank you in advance!

    Michal
