Failure of multiple monitors

Hi people!

I had a problemhttp://communities.vmware.com/images/emoticons/shocked.gif

First of all, here is my system configuration:

RHEL 5.3 (host) - Windoze XP (guest)

NVIDIA Graphics inside (supports two screens)

Xinerama in 'nvidia-settings' active

VM installed Tools

Then, when I tried the function of multiple monitors from WS 6.5 it works fine! -& gt; Office extended guest system.

But atm WS do not extend to the desktop to my second screen. Instead, he

split the screen and displays the desktops on one monitor!

Take a look at my screenshot, please!

I did something wrong? You have any ideas? Thank you.

Hello. Sorry for the delay... I must have missed your response earlier...

Well, then it seems that X is configured correctly. If you look in the vmware.log, you'll find that we detects resolutions and numbers of monitors.

The real problem is the Manager of windows, and here's why... So far last year, it was not a formal way to say a window manager, "hey, I want this window to be full screen and I want to extend over multiple monitors." So we have some 'interesting' hacks in our code that try to force windows to do managers, even if they do not want. The results can vary from complete hell (Compiz) to slightly irritating (Openbox, apparently ;) =). Last year, some of my colleagues added the NETWM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS indicator window to the EWMH (http://snurl.com/dxbi6) specification Manager so that we have now a clean way to do it.

In the past months, we have seen this suspicion becomes available in KDE 4.2.0 and Compiz 0.8 XFWM4 4.6.0. It has also been accepted in the Metacity svn repo and must do it in the next version of GNOME/Metacity. I do not think that Openbox supports this indication (for information, run this command: NETWM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS xprop-root").

So, the thing is that our small fullscreen/multimon hacks that have been put in place before NETWM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS do not seem to work always well with Metacity and KWin, but not with most other window managers. It seems that the Openbox is the one who does not want to stretch a window full screen beyond the limits of the current screen.

The only short-term solution is to run a Manager Windows that plays well with our old fullscreen/multimon hacks (Metacity and KWin), either an execution the most recent window managers that I mentioned above, that support NETWM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS. The solution long term for Openbox is that it must support the NETWM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS EWMH indicator, and it would probably be a good idea for you to file a bug with the Openbox project on this subject so that they can start working on it.

Sorry for the long-winded speech, but I wanted to provide as much information as possible and not appear as one of these "it is your fault... This isn't us... etc." people.

If you have any questions or comments, please let me know! =:) And I'm sorry, that there is not a simpler answer.

After the V43.0.0.5820, Firefox works but is invisible on the screen. I do not remember what version I have updated since then, but this is done normally under actual multiple monitors as with all other software installed.

Currently it is forcing me to use Internet Explorer, which works flawlessly.

  • NB520 - support for multiple monitors

NB520 they supported multiple monitors built in, if not, how can I have multiple monitor support my NB520? I need to use a Pewerpoint 2007 (presenter to display mode differs from the public view).

Thanks a lot for a response in advance.

    Hi smit_Aood,

The NB520 supports an external monitor and you can use the internal monitor + external at the same time (both monitors are supported). In addition, you can choose if you want to extend the desktop on the secondary monitor or to clone.

Using the FN + F5 key combination, you can switch between different modes.

Last but not least, you can use also a video projector or a TV as a second monitor. A certain computer screen is not necessary. ;)

  • Want to Phoenix h9: HP Envy H9 Phoenix - multiple monitors

No Windows 10 option above, but it's a question that began with Windows 8 and continues with Windows 10.

I have a h9 Phoenix envy that I am very satisfied, but have had trouble with multiple monitors.  I can't find any documentation on the adding more than two monitors.  I have one running on the HDMI connector and another through the DVI.  But the addition of a third monitor became a mystery.  There are two additional DVI connections, but both were covered and when the updated seem to be connected to anything internal.  They are somewhat obscured by the food, and I'd rather not shoot to see the back side, I don't have to.

Then, there are two additional Minies connections on the same card that DVI and HDMI connectors that I use on the first two monitors.  However, I can't find any documentation on the mini type connectors (like maybe mini DVI) I can find no cable to adapt.

Is there something in the BIOS that must be returned to activate more ports?  Three monitors is not an option in the configuration current/components?  Can I add another video card supporting three monitors?  I have the AMD Radeon HD series 7900 graphics card.

It seems a waste to throw away when it works so well otherwise!  He performmed flawlesly with the migration of Windows 10 and could last a little longer.

    @HawkeEye

I suggest that you try an what AMD approved DP to HDMI adapter activewhich also works with AMD EyeFinity.

There may be a ' I gottcha "If the AMD 7900 is an OEM HP card. HP in the past has used decorum for AMD graphics cards drivers so using a retail AMD driver could be a problem, or it might work.

  • The ipad pro supports multiple monitors with different content on each screen?

I want to replace my laptop with an ipad pro.  Currently I drive three screens with my laptop, all with different content (VGA, HDMI, laptop screen) with no additional adapters.  The Ipad pro has a video card that will allow me to run multiple monitors (3 including the pro) with different content on each monitor?

Given that the pro iPad running iOS and iOS do not supports multiple monitors, I would say no. I may be wrong, so feel free to correct me.

  • Multiple monitors put in place

I'm trying to set up multiple monitors on my desktop HP P6674y.  He has the card ATI Radeon4200 Video w / outputs both VGA and DVI on the back, and I'm the undertanding is able to handle this.

I have two monitors of AOC 2436vh I tested individually and when hung directly via the VGA port on the office work perfectly.  However, when even try doing them individually on the DVI port, they show no signal.

When you try to hang together, I obviously I am not able to see the screen appear as being recognized by the computer.

Told me that I needed to change the settings of the graphics card to have two ports activated somewhere, but I don't know how to make that happen.

Can someone please help, because I really want to get these views together as soon as I can in my workplace?

    Thank you!

Try this article.  There are different types of DVI <>- VGA adapter and this could be the cause, if this isn't the right adapter type.  It is one of the reasons why I do not recommend the use of adapters.

If you use a discrete video card then the video ports motherboard are disable by bios when a PCI-E x 16 video card is detected.

  • HP Envy h8 - 1520t - can handle multiple monitors?

I want to buy an additional monitor or two, but I don't know if my computer can handle them. According to the specifications of my computer, it has an AMD radeon hd gpu 8570.  Is there any specific kind of connection vga, hdmi, dual-link dvi to run the installation of the multiple monitor? If yes what kind of adaptors/cables do I need?

It does not matter at all.  Most video cards have only one of each type of connector.  The key is to use the appropriate adapter if necessary.  Furthermore, carefully follow the instructions in the guide.

  • Multiple monitors: VGA laptop to Westinghouse TV

I have an Acer Apire 5920. My warranty has run out of earlier. I got a virus in August and had to do a full restore. I used the DVD of Windows XP instead of Vista which was OEM on my Acer when I bought it. Right now I have Win XP Home Edition 32 bit. I had to download all my drivers on the Acer site.

    My question:
When I plug the VGA of the laptop and the TV it says no Signal on the TV. When I arrived at the display settings in the Properties menu I have only 1 screen. It says "display:" (default monitor) on
It doesn't let me change to another. I think that I have an Intel graphics card.
