Failure of Windows Vista password

I don't know where to turn.  Last night, I changed my password of Admin in Vista.  Tonight the password does not work.  I am sure that I am entering the correct password to 100%.  That's happened?  Why it is not working?

I don't know why it does not work, but you can change it to something else instead. Here's how:

You can change your password to something that you remember another administrative user account. If you had only an administrative user account and you have forgotten the password, all is not lost. You can then follow the general recommendations for implementing user accounts in Vista that I will give you at the end of this post.

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [press Enter]
NET user [insert here the name of your user account] [insert the new password of user as 1234 here] [press Enter]

[Note: do not enter the brackets!]

Remove the installation DVD and restart the computer. Now, you will be able to connect to your user account by using the password that you set; for example, 1234.

If you do not have a Vista installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair Vista (not a system recovery!) system in the diagnostic menu. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. Get to this menu by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. If you do not have this option, you can make a bootable Vista file repair DVD in this link:

http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent as muTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need to use third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data.

Once you have fixed things, log on to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • Failures of Windows Vista Security KB970710, KB982665 and KB9552709

    If the updates of Windows Vista Security above could not install, should I worry about this, I need to find a way to correct the failures and then installed correctly, please advise. Thank you

    Yes, you need to solve the problem and install them in particular because they are updated for security.

    Try to download and install manually by download on your desktop and install them one by one. Insert the number of KB to get updates on the right and choose the one corresponding to your version of Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.

    If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  Disable your security software.  Then try the updates again. Once this is done (if it worked) don't forget to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

    If this does not help, please transfer your question in Forum Windows Update:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where updates experts will be happy to help you.  Please post with the information requested here:what to post in the Windows Update forum

  • Windows vista password backgroun

    Hello

    I was wondering, is it possible to change the background of vista to windows on screen password security?  If so, how would I go all this?
    Thanks robin

    Hi Robin75,

    Thanks for choosing Windows Vista community.

    Yes, it is possible to change Windows Vista Logon Background. I'm afraid, there is no tool designed by Microsoft for that matter.

    However, there are many third-party tools that will help you change Windows Vista Logon Background on your system.

    You can go to http://www.bing.com/ and background research to logon to Windows Vista.

  • Failure recovery Windows vista CTOERROR.flg and after that error the error 0 x 643 during the installation of windows update

    Hi all

    system information: HP DV6 LAPTOP, windows vista sp1

    When I try to install windows vista sp1 disks/recovery partition that I get the error recovery manager prompting me to choose either to see the details of the failure or restart: CTOERROR.flg as a Notepad on my desk. I did try 100 times but nothing helped. I can't restart after this recovery failure message because it shows the dialog box when restarting: windows security update is not properly installed or is not approved. So, I have to go through the process of recovery again to see the desktop (any operation - music video, internet, all), but only once.

    The last time I got this message too. When I did the windows installation of recovery a few months back discs, this time I figured out to install all updates IMP to automatic update via update of windows. All updates have been installed successfully, then it restarted and gone through the process of language settings, time settings and everything...

    But this time when I'm trying to update windows, I get windows update, error 0 x 643 which is updating security for .net Framework 3.5 sp1 and update family. I don't know the answer how to exit with this error "windows help" and also this forum too, which asks for the installation of the updates of the .net framework from the windows update site directly. But the problem is:

    Updated Windows ask me to restart windows automatic or manual update installation takes place and restart causes problem because it shows the dialog box - windows security update is not installed successfully. I need to install all updates at once like last time of my understanding. :

    1. so, if I install the update to windows (to try my luck as last time) it says error 0 x 643 for .net framework and you ask to reboot, and after that when I try to manually install failed 0 x 643 updated it asks me to restart windows for pending updates.

    2. in the alternative, if I try to install the update failed everything first just after the failure of the recovery it doesn't allow me to install important updates for vista sp1 and asked to restart windows.

    All I need is to update all updates via windows automatic update that is not happening at the moment.

    Not even be able to upgrade to sp2 bcz it also restarts for installation.

    Help, please.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi harry973,

    Download Service Pack 1 will not convert in a disc in Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

    A recovery disk will not be useful to perform an Inplace upgrade to.
    You will need the original Windows Installation disc.
    If the disc that came with the computer, then it would be a drive OEM (manufacturer). This disk can only be used for a reinstallation of Windows.

    Hope this helps!

  • Failure of Windows Vista and the SafeMode of startup failure - crcdisk.sys

    Hello

    I have a Dell Inspiron laptop computer 2 GB RAM. He had a few months now, and everything has been fine.

    Started a few days ago from freezing occasionally so I was forced to restart. CTRL + ALT + DELETE has refused to do anything and so I had to manually remove the battery.

    A frozen about three times and then once rebooted showed the BSOD saying something the system failure.

    So I rebooted once more and now it restarts just without going on the login screen. I tried to run in safe mode, but it gets stuck on crcdisk.sys or goes in an endless process to restart again.

    Is there anyway that I might be able to get back on without doing a full factory reset, as I have all my work stored on the hard drive integrated without backup.

    I can open the system recovery options, but none of these options seem to work. All my points of recovery have been removed.

    Startup Repair doesn't indicate a problem with the system, so I thought maybe it was a virus? The same thing happened to my wife a few days ago computer and that uses the same Wifi network as me.

    Jacob.

    To search for malicious software, you must do in Mode safe mode with networking, but you say that you can not get the Options.

    There is information below data recovery.

    And Startup Repair Info, too.

    Data recovery:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
