Failure to import a file; File has unsupported compression type!

I finished my film of edition about two weeks ago did everything audio etc last week color correction and are intended to supplement the sutitling tomorrow!

But now the problem is that my some of my files are now in offline mode and cannot be reprinted in the moment because I get an error message that says 'failure to import a file; File has unsupported compression type"

These files are. MTS, which I believe are AVCHD.

So I don't know what has happened here. What is the recent update that has caused this or something else?

Move a clip in offline mode to another location and recreate a link

Also species of media empty.

And the first start-up in now shift + alt up to the Welcome screen.

See if this will help.

  • AVCHD "unsupported compression type?

I just moved a large project from one system to another and all of a sudden all the AVCHD media comes as offiline. Other media in the project that came until appears the .mov files fine.

When I try to recreate a link to the missing clips, I get a dialog box "the file has an unsupported compression type. I created a test project and then I import AVCHD media and work with her on this system. But my initial project will not bind to the same media on the system.

I also deleted the cache of media and multimedia data files. But that did not help either.

Meanwhile, I can go back to the original system and the project and AVCHD files will be opened very well.

Both systems are iMac i7 and media are accessible from a shared server which we used in this way without problem for 3 months.

Anyone has any ideas on what could be happening?

Any help would be LARGELY APPRECIATED!

    Thank you!

    Hi dkmiles,

Create a folder say "TEST" in the same folder where you have all the AVCHD files. Move all files in the test folder, and then try linking again. Also, please mention if you have directory structure complete fo AVCHD clip or not.

  • THE FILE HAS AN UNSUPPORTED COMPRESSION TYPE

    Hello friends,

I'm having a problem here in Premiere pro CS5. What's new in CS5 they said we can import DVD files format in first pro CS5 without convert them into any format, but when I import my files to DVD it gives me an error message saying that: THE FILE has a non supported COMPRESSION TYPE.

Is there anyway that I can fix this? pls help me...

They are on your hard drive (DVD case is begging for trouble)? What size are they? and what was the source you have to? If all else fails, simply convert em on (I hate work outside the standard formats).

Too bad LOL asked the essential question...

  • .mts unsupported compression type

I opened a first project today and for some reason, all the files on the timeline .mts were highlighted in red with a warning of "media disconnected". First of all, I thought that something happened to my hard drive but I quickly realized it wasn't the case. I tried to re - link all the .mts files but got "it's a compression type not supported" warning. I edited these files for the last 2 weeks and Premiere Pro CC 2015 had no problem recognizes them. Nobody knows what happened all of a sudden?

Try to connect, and then again in the CC app.  Activation of codec is going sometimes wobbly.

  • Help, please! After Effects has ceased to import .m2t files!

    Hello

I met a relatively urgent problem that I hope someone can help me with. I do a video in after effects cs4 for a customer using sequences captured in HDV split this show as .m2t files. I edited with these files in after effect before, but now all of a sudden when I go to file-> import and select the file, I get an immediate "after effects error: could not import the file '... "type of file unsupported of extension.

I also noticed that it wouldn't let me import the .mpg files however import .mov without problem.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    > The version is 9.0.2.42 which I'm pretty sure is the most recent.

Nope. There is a 9.0.3 update. Try installing that. After trying that, let us know if you're still having problems.

Also, you say that you have imported the .m2t files before. Try with a file that was successful before so that we can exclude the possibility that the files you were trying today are not damaged or wrong somehow.

  • I have problems to import DNxHD files in first - ideas?

    Hello

I'm really stuck... I recently shot about 5 hours of footage of helicopter of the coast here in Cornwall (United Kingdom) by using the helicopter companies sony HDcam.

Unfortunately as I do all my work on P2 and CF cards I don't have the equipment to capture images from of HDcam tapes.

I used a guy associated with the helicopter company to take images from strips and place it on a hard drive that I could pick up and change. He was convinced that the best bet is to encode the files in the avid DNxHD codec - and that I would be able to import and edit first. I assumed that he was right because I always managed to import the files, .mxf P2 card with no problems at all.

Anyway to get to the point - I got the hard drive earlier in the day and the Prime Minister is unwilling to play ball at all - I get the message "the file has an unsupported compression type" whenever I try and import it.

I downloaded the AvidCodecsLE to my mac - but no joy...

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

    See you soon

    Mark

Ah, I see what he was doing. He captured the HDCAM tapes in the Avid, which captures images in an envelope of MXF files. It does not really matter the codec; all Avid captures are MXF files. What he did was give you captured files, which you can tell by the hodgepodge file name and extension MXF. He probably took right to your external drive.

Unfortunately, even if the codec is DNxHD (probably), first will not work with MXF wrapped DNxHD. first works with MXFs, but only if they are camera generated such as a P2 or XDCAM camcorder. Had exported QuickTime MOV DNxHD encoded, that would be another story. First'd crack those opened without problem.

About the only way you will get in these files is to open up with a greedy and export the necessary QuickTime files. You can also try After Effects, if you have access to it; I had some strange and unexpected things like this before. If it works, you can configure comps for each clip and restore them to a usable file first; With DNxHD QuickTime is still probably your best choice.

    =======================================
Movie Maker has problems with the .mpg files... best bet would be
to convert the .mpg files before importing the .wmv format.

Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Music - wma, wav, .wmv

    See the following article:

Movie Maker 2 - Import MPEG files
    http://www.Papajohn.org/mm2-importing-video-MPEG2.html

    The following freeware can convert:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory
    http://www.pcfreetime.com/
    (FWIW... you can uncheck
all the boxes on the last screen)

After downloading and installing Format Factory...
Open the program and choose an output folder...
(this is where you will find your files when they are
    converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

    Select "At?" / OK...
(the? is the format of your choice)

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

    Good luck...

  • Failure of a registry file - cannot restart the computer.

Hello. So first of all I wanted to say that I am not an expert, but I think I've had more than my share of problems with my computer. Problems not only to get a virus, but questions of crazy system that I have no idea how they occur, or really correct.

I have an Inspiron 1545, Vista service pack 2, 32-bit.

In any case, I have some of my favorites showed it to my sister and I had a bunch of tabs open and Internet Explore was not load the pages to the right, it has happened and I just restart and it works again. I thought that if I manually restarted the computer, IE would my session was interrupted and when I opened it again it would open all my tabs unless I have to go find them and open them myself. I know that you are not supposed to turn off manually when you can actually go and press restart technially menu, but I did anyway... Well apparently, it was a big mistake.

Now my computer does not restart properly. It gives me the option to restart normally, but when I hit, it indicates the green status bar briefly and then goes black and is sitting there, I did not leave very long sit, but I guess that it does not load. Then the other option is allocated to the repair of the system. He says "research issues" and "this may take a few minutes" and just, it scans and analysis, I have let it go a little over half an hour and it did nothing. I guess that he won't do anything if it does nothing in the first ten minutes. Then I hit Cancel and freezes the status on the scan and I manually restart and the same things happen. I press F8 and tried to go into safe mode and it loades among requirments system and then it's again once I didn't let it sit long, since I think that it won't work in all cases.

I went to the System Center restoration and tried again to repair the system and the same thing... nothing happens. I tried to use a restore point, and to a point that one reason is cited even if I just made a couple months ago. In any case, it is said that since I was in a State of limited system may not perform correctly, I would in a higher State, but I can't have one. It also gives rose the failure of a registry file error and then code them (0x8007045D).

I also tried to run the Pre Boot Assesment and he did the first part of the analysis (I don't have the rest) and it gave me this error - hard drive 0 (2000-0146)

I read a little on the way to try to solve this problem online. I think if I can boot into safe mode with command prompt, I can run diskcheck and maybe it will fix what's wrong, but I have not tried yet, I tell myself that it won't work because I can't with regular safe mode. I also read something about starting in the Vista disc, but I don't really know what that means.

My main fear is that I'll lose my stuff. I supported a few months ago, but I take a lot of pictures and I have not in the past months registered and they are very important to me. I'm afraid to lose. I don't know if it's something that I can fix it or if I should try a friend, or just take my computer somewhere.

I hope no one will offer you is a hard drive problems and suggest you get a new, becaue some time ago I had some weird problem I couldn't fix it under warranty, I had the hard drive replaced and it did not fix the issue and I am not under warranty any more.

So, can someone please help me? Thank you!

    Hello

You can repair the system from the installation disc. It will replace the corrupted Windows operating system files.

I suggest you to go through the steps mentioned in the link and the Coachman.
