Fake AV attack?

I accessed this forum via the Microsoft Web site. Whenever I do, I get a Norton alert, that it had prevented an attack: Fake AV attack, Fake AV site 20. I just had my computer cleaned and completely analyzed using a series of programs (Malwarebytes, ComboFix, etc.) so I'm sure it's clean. Why am I being attacked on a Microsoft Web site? Or does he know Norton I think of them dumping because Norton 360 couln can't detect and block a rootkit infection?

You must ask Norton these questions, not you?  Norton is the one who made the request and has recently implemented a "psychic" module

Hello, this may be a problem with adware/malware on your pc. Please, try the following steps:

    1. Reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    2. then go to firefox > addons > extensions and where there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    3. Finally, run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to ensure that adware is not present in other parts of your system as well.

  • Why am I suddenly get several attack pop ups Windows wanting to buy me their stuff of antivirus/antimalware explore?

I went to pick up a drug on my Google browser and received several alerts to attack Windows. I ran my own Avast and Malwarebytes programs and got rid of some bugs. But now I get Antivirus XP alerts that tell me I'm being attacked. I can't get down them, they reappear. I restarted my security system, and they say that everything is fine. Finally, I checked the Windows security and they simply does not have security, I have to buy it and it is connected to the Windows Explorer and I don't use that, I use FoxFire. In addition, I HAVE my own security programs. But no matter how many times I hit the X button or say NO I don't want the protection of the pop ups continue and the small icons in the menu bar lower will not disappear. How can I get rid of this? I know there were things going on between Windows and Google and Facebook and other things. What is screwing up my computer?

  • The fake Flash Player update infects Macs with Shareware

This isn't a question, but just an info > see below:

(I hope), anyone who has used computers for some time must be aware of the ritual without end of update Adobe Flash against security vulnerabilities. Even if you run Flash on your computer, you have probably seen many titles in the media of tech in the years of the importance of keeping Adobe Flash (and his crony Acrobat PDF Reader) updated to protect against malicious attacks.

Then, what better way to trick someone with their computer infected only by disguising it in an actual Adobe Flash update?

It is precisely this that criminals are now, in their attempts to infect the Apple Mac users with scareware.

The first sign you will see that the criminals are looking to infect your computer Mac OS X is if you see a pop-up window as it appear while you browse the web: (photo here)

The beauty of this approach, point of view of criminals, is that the attack is not invoke any software vulnerability or exploit. Instead, social engineering is used to fool the uninformed user unwittingly download and does not perform a fake Adobe Flash version - designed to infect their computer with scareware.

  • Vista system restore question after malware attack

Hello.  My wife's computer has been attacked by malware.  It all hid on the desktop and the start menu as well as all his personal files, has launched a large number of pop-up windows - up with fake error messages and then prompted to pay an unknown technical support source.  I used the Vista system restore to restore the system to a few days before the attack.  According to the instructions of Windows help, the system restore should not affect his personal files.  I was hoping that his files would be present again after the restore, but they are still missing.  The malware seems to have disappeared now.  Any suggestions on where its files can be located or what measures you need a professional to get back them?

    Hello

You may also still have some malware installed.

Read the information on the link provided (Section 19 and 21) on the way to "unmask" data and Start Menu as a few skins of Malware.

  • The fake Flash Update malware removal

Over the weekend, my iMac received the fake local saying Adobe Flash needs an update. I checked that I was indeed the last version for OS X. Now I get the pop up every hour or so and I want to get rid of.

I have never clicked on the download button. I tried Malwarebytes, but it found no malicious software, which could be because of me is not clicking on download.

I'm sorry if this is off topic for OS X, but perhaps someone can direct me where to go for help.

  • I need to change email provider? I get a fake Government attachments w which seem to be just a code

I received two mails from the County Clerk telling me that I have to present to the Court. The email has an attachment that once opened computer code showed only. I went to court, and they said that they do not e-mail. The second, that I received this morning which seems very real and said it was the Internal Revenue Service < @irs.gov > and I got a refund and to open an attachment. I know that I don't have a repayment and did not open the attachment. The e-mail that I receive the email is that I do not as a rule. I think is no longer using Thunderbird as my email that I find these very scary fake e-mail. What can I do to prevent these fraudulent emails that change my email provider and to change my email address.
I reported these incidents to the police at IC3.gov

As General precautionary measure do not open attachments from unknown sources and attachments, you did not or did not.

From: e-mail address of spam almost certainly isn't the email to the original sender, it can easily be spoofed.

You don't have an email account with your email provider, not with Thunderbird or Mozilla. It doesn't matter how you get the mail server of the provider, through Thunderbird or any other e-mail or via the webmail client. You will receive these scams by e-mail to your account without worrying.

Change your email address and or your email provider may be a good idea however. And be careful for what and to whom you give your email address.
