  I would like to know the exact steps you have taken to change the primary e-mail address for your Windows Live Family Safety. It is possible that the Windows user account wants to check your new parent account. For us to resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  Remove the computer

  • I don't know how unbullet these (way to go), but which is not my question...

    • • I changed the password on my live account to account.live.com

        • I can connect to most Live services with this account by using the new password (I'm now connected with it)
        • It will not work with the installation of the parental controls, I installed on two computers (for example, to work around a site "in person" or temporarily disable the software.)
      • I uninstalled parental controls on both computers and reinstalled with the web installer Live Essentials.  The real account seems to authenticate correctly the first time, he asks the account to use when opening of parental control for the first time.  After that, "the Windows Live ID or the password is incorrect.  Please try again ".

  The latest version of family safety 2012 (Build 16.4.3503.728) is now available for Windows 7. With the latest version of your child will ask you twice; first 15 minutes before curfew and another is 1 minute before to be disconnected. I'm a roadrunner fall, so I created a gmail account but microsift does not allow me to change my email address so I had to close the roadrunner connection and make a gmail account to sign. I couldn't add family safety to the gmail sign in so I closed it also. I am now locked out of my security settings for the family and unable to make changes or see web filtering. I tried to create a hotmail account, but that does not work either. My gmail.com is the address I want to set up with microsoft and security for the windows family.

  We are happy to help you in this regard. I understand that you want to change the settings for parental controls on your computer, but you have already deposited the parent account that hold the settings.

  The settings can be made by removing the family settings on your computer. You will need to uninstall the previous settings will be erased and then reinstall it so you can configure it with your new account.   This message appears when the application doesn't have an authority root certificate. These types of notifications can be disabled from user account control settings.
  [1] method: Using Control Panel to change UAC settings
  CAUTION: Turn off UAC is NOT recommended
  • On the start menu, select Control Panel
  • Go to system and security > Action Center
  • In the left pane, select change user account control settings
  • Drag the button scroll never notify
  • Click OK to save your settings

  OPINIONS: UAC can avoid potentially dangerous applications to make changes on your computer. Disable UAC would disable the feature for all programs and not for a specific special application.

  Hello, I upgraded a laptop for Windows Vista 8 and family safety works more fully.

  I have updated to the 2012 essentials and I can confirm that parental control is executed. App and time restrictions still work fine, but the filtering of the web site does not work.

  I have web filtering set to allow list only, with 3 sites listed - google, Wikipedia and BBC - but I can access all of the web content.

  I also tried to delete the files in ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/Parental Controls such as suggested in other posts, but it did not work.

  I can also confirm that WpcMon.exe is running.

  Can you advise what could be the problem?

  Thank you for coming back. Please note that the parental control is now integrated in Windows 8. The use of the parental control client that is included in Windows Essentials might not work properly. As before, you upgrade using Windows Vista, you can follow the steps described in this article (click on parental controls) to move properly the configuration of the client of parental control for the parental controls feature integrated in Windows 8.
