Fan/CPU problems

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1240us laptop which has worked well so far. However, WoW started to freeze on me before, even with optimal delay and framerate. He would seize up, stay like that for a while and then only start working again. I watched cpu usage levels and noticed that they fell during the gel and rose again when the funtioned program correctly. I also noticed that the fan had stopped kicking in the mode "high". It only blew gently. The air coming out at the back was also very hot, although it has cooled once I quit WoW running. I think that the fan may be defective, causing the CPU overheating, which triggers a mechanism that limits its usage levels, causing programs to freeze. Is that what is happening here? If so, what could be wrong and what can I do about it?

I suggest not normally updates the BIOS but in your case, make sure that you have later. Fan controls and temporary sensors operate at the BIOS level and not at the level of the BONE. New video drivers can also help. The laptop is enough new that I doubt it is an accumulation of dust inside, but if it's in a dirty environment or you are a smoker it's a final possibility.

I sent to the center of HP service after a week, the service staff telling me that he was unable to go bad because my motherboard is the American version, which I have no idea what it means (my PC was purchased locally) but to bring him back.

I solved my problem of tried to detach the Rams (2 actuators) & install only 1 on an another RAM slot first. This works. Then installed the second RAM on an another slot also without no problems so far.

  • Satellite A500: update BIOS V1.50 is fan noise problem reappears

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 with fan noise problem.
It has been partially resolved the upgrade of BIOS from v1.20 to v1.30, according to this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=0&TSTART=0

Yesterday I updated the BIOS v1.50, and the sound of the fan returned.
I do not recommend this upgrade if you have had the problem of fan noise.

I have downgrade BIOS v1.30 and fan noise problem is solved again.
I know that people have problems to get the downgrade to BIOS, so I describe the process in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50577&TSTART=0

Thanks mate for sharing this with us

But perhaps you could use the v1.5 BIOS and could reduce or reduce the activity of module cooling in Vista/Win7 power management settings.
It would be interesting to check it out

In any case thank you for this info

  • MainStage 3.2.3 CPU problem unsolved

    Please see the video: https://youtu.be/_cpVa64tmrY

cpu problem in the mainstage 3.2.3

the video has been used in the same concert, perform the same functions, the difference is absurd.

Yes, I see this same thing going MS 3.1.1 3.2.x. It was not a 3.2 version that works for more than 25 minutes without serious crackling and stuttering with a concert that I use all the time with absolutely no problem for hours overnight with 3.1.1.

I spent days trying to track down the issue. I use a lot of 3rd party software, but I have not been able to isolate an offender. If I use a sheet of Apple in the only project, everything works fine. But, my usual concert uses a lot more memory and some of the plug-ins are much more intensive CPU. I'm starting to wonder if there is a threshold of memory and use CPU causing instability in point 3.2. Unfortunately, it seems almost impossible to load enough instruments EXES to get closer to the memory usage that I use regularly with my native instrument patches, so if my threshold theory is correct, I did not spent yet. At the moment, I'm so tired to lose time trying to locate the problem, I'm pretty well reconciled with the use 3.1.1. It's very frustrating, yet. There is no doubt that something fundamental has changed, but it does not have an impact on a large number of people. I'm afraid that those of us with these problems are on our own until we can come up with something concrete to show Apple so that they can remedy.

So, I'm curious to know what operating system you are using and whether you use 3rd party plug-ins. In your video, I see that you do not use a lot of memory, makes me think that I'm wrong about the memory being an issue. Anyway, if we can find things that are common to our configurations, maybe this will help point to the problem.

  • Replacement radiator/fan CPU in Studio XPS 8100 problems

I'm looking to replace the CPU fan/radiator in my Studio XPS 8100 desktop computer, using a Dell model 0TJ5T2 (http://i.imgur.com/NMu2wYk.jpg is my actual unit).  The Amazon seller, I ordered it from class compatible with the 8100 XPS (www.amazon.com/.../B008B9MUJ6; redirect = true & ref_ = oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00), but I'm having an extremely difficult time, install the new fan.  The screws on the line of the fan with the holes on the motherboard upward; but when I press firmly on one of their chiefs/Springs, the screw's not going deep enough to really catch on anything whatsoever (and pressure usually ends up causing the heatsink to slip away from the CPU).  Y at - it something I am doing wrong, or this model fan is not really compatible with the 8100?

There is a thread X on the bottom of the motherboard heatsink live in.

If this is not the same then its wrong son.

  • Can I replace fan CPU Vista cruise?

I need to know if it is possible to build a C++ program that replaces Windows Vista Ultimate control fan speed, so I need to maximize the voltage or rpm my CPU Fan.

    Thank you!

Question may be stupid, but why you want to change something? Settings and features are powered by Microsoft and also tested and adapted by Toshiba.
    What is the problem?

Out of curiosity, what Toshiba laptop do you have?

  • Portege R700, Windows 7, mounted sudden fan/cpu, freeze and force stop

    Hello

I have a persistent problem that starts to become annoying... Portege 700 running Windows 7. Normal use (office, WMP, IE anything heavy)

No apparent reason (no new requests started for example), there is a sudden increase in the speed of the fan which should be max (looks it takes off) and I suspect use of the processor at the same time. And it's that it's not simply to stop (I left for awhile on occasion) and does not match an input (keyboard or mouse). The only 'solution' is to use the power button to force a shutdown. (And then I lose all cookies etc. when starting again).

I did a lot of Googling on that. Thought it was WMP network sharing Service and has taken measures to see, but have recently disabled that service and still the problem occurs... (I checked that it is always disabled when just rebooted).

I keep as 'clean' as I can (have AV installed, use ccleaner regularly etc etc) so would be surprised if a virus/worm, but am running a scan again just in case...

This happens quite often be a pain - and I have no idea what is the cause, if any ideas gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim

    Hello

I m no owner on the site Web of Toshiba Portege R700 but I found an article that describes EXACTLTY the same problem. High activity of its use and CPU fan, then it freezes :(
Here is the link to this article:

If you have a plus BIOS version 5.14, you will have this problem (according to my research).

It started with BIOS 5.16 and other BIOS updates have published this bug.

(Added the next day, in order to clarify the question).

Many messages of this referenced forum that users had updated their BIOS. After this upgrade, the CPU fan began cycling up and down repeatedly. I took all of these posts and analyzed them, looking for a common point. All users have the motherboard M2N78 - violet. Upgrading the BIOS is 5.16 and higher.

Searching the Internet with this number of BIOS, I found many references to a "bug" apparent in the upgrade. The respondents have all sought 5.14 BIOS to fix this problem.

  • Fan CPU in Compaq Presario SG3450IL failure

    Hello

I use a Compaq SG3450IL with Windows-7(32-bit) OS desktop pc. You need the card mother ms-7525 v1.0 is installed in it. The question is that whenever I turnon or restart my pc it displays "error: CPU fan failure, shutdown of PC will immediately in a few seconds.» PC service immediately. ». But, when I open the Cabinet cpu one comes to know that all the fans inside the CPU properly. I use to press F2 and ignore this issue. But, after a few months, pc allows to recover for several times. I had formatted my OS together for this issue, but no use. I contacted the service of hp on this issue and they suggested me to change the cpu fan. I want to know if these two problems can be solved by replacing the cpu fan with a new one. Please guide me on this issue. I'm waiting for your valuable suggestion that there expert day.

    Concerning
    Rachid

    Hello

normally, while the CPU fan error comes, it appears on the screen with a red font and pc stops immediately.

However, if the system fan fails, pc gives message with white font and generally wllows to start Windows after you press the F2 or F1.

If you are facing the second situation then a way to disable the message of would be - to go BIOS by pressing Ctrl + F10 when booting. Then go to advance the menu and then scroll down to hardware monitor. and you can now turn off the system from the BIOS fan control.

    I hope this will help.

  • New bios CPU problem

Hi guys I'm new and will try to do the best I can

I have a HP Pavilion a6110n PC with all original material.

    Motherboard: M2N68 - LA

    CPU:Athlon 64 X 2 (B) 4400

My cpu is dead so I had to switch to a new processor, the problem is that I don't have high grade my bios and now when I turn on the computer with my new CPU. the computer lights spin cpu fans, every thing looks like it should work but I have no display.

New CPU: SMD Sempron 140, socket AM3, 2.7 GHz, 1 MB cache, 45 watts.

I think the problem is that I have not update my bios but I don't know how to fix it.

Any help you can be would be very appreciated

    Hello

The specifications of the motherboard for your PC not indicate the socket AM3 and AM2 AMD.

Get a nominal AM2 processor of 89 watts or less.  Review the requirements to upgrade processor above.

  • Satellite A300 cpu problem

Hi all, I had a Satellite A300 under Vista 32 bit

I posted in this forum earlier on my reboot loop problem
    (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=77256&stqc=true)

I finally found that my laptop is fine when it is in safe mode, or when running only on battery
Once I plug the power that the loop comes back, I saw in another post that disable both processors in Device Manager can solve the problem, and it worked for me!

However, I want to do a factory restore because my OS is corrupted badly enough (probably due to virus?), many services can not start and also access no internet

Problem is when I do the factory recovery, the processor driver will probably settle at some point my laptop won't fall through the loop again and was never able to complete the recovery?

I tried other OS like ubuntu, but problem still exist, so I don't know this isn't OS problem.

So I would like to know:
    1. What is the difference of the CPU in operation mode/battery safe mode/AC only mode?
    2. What does the processor driver? What happens when I disabled it them?
    3. a way to set the CPU mode in the BIOS? (so I can keep the work process recovery) (I tried ' dynamic/always low' and disable "multi core processing", no help)

I tried to fix my laptop for weeks, your help is very appreciated!

    > Problem is when I make the resumption of the factory, the processor driver will probably settle at some point my laptop won't fall through the loop again and was never able to complete the recovery?

I think it will always be the case if you install the system using the recovery disc or own Ms.

    > 1. What is the difference of the CPU in operation mode/battery safe mode/AC only mode?

First of all if you run the laptop computer is in safe mode, only some essential system process would load and many components non-essential are disabled.
The processor supports also different modes (C1, C2, C3) in order to save energy for energy savings
Each CPU has multiple power modes, and they are collectively called States C or C-modes.

    > 2. What makes the processor driver? What happens when I disabled it them?
Its a driver essential system. Unless the driver of the CPU, the system does not recognize the CPU correctly and the processor cores.

    > . Any way to set the CPU mode in the BIOS? (so I can keep the work process recovery) (I tried ' dynamic/always low' and disable "multi core processing", no help)
    N °
The CPU seems to be the troublemaker and I think that it should be replaced

  • Satellite 2450 S203 fan noise problems

    Hi guys

I had a Sat 2450 S203 since October 2003 and have recently noticed that whenever I run memory intensive programs fan noise levels are excessive and constant!

If someone could Advisor on the replacement of the fan and know if I should do it myself. Please also comment on the impact on costs as well. Are there other ways around to get rid of this problem?

    Hello

After this long period, your device must be cleaned properly. I guess that dust inside the unit don't allow adequate cooling and cooling fan must often runs and faster to cool the hardware components. It is not only specific for your device, but for all laptops.

I'm sure that after cleaning, your device can take a deep breath and will work a lot better and calmer. I noticed the same thing with my Satellite P20. After cleaning the laptop runs very quiet and cooling fan just works sometimes. I'm very happy now.

  • Direction fan CPU HPE-400f

Hi, I have a HPE-400f desktop PC and I took out the cpu fan to clean the heatsink and the cpu fan. But when I forgot which direction blows the cpu fan when I put back it together. I think it was blowing towards the radiator, so I put it with cpu blowing towards the radiator fan. Can you please tell me if it's supposed to be blowing closer or away from the heat sink? I want to be safe, I put it in right place. Thank you

    Hello:

If the fan is mounted on the radiator, it should direct the flow of air to the radiator.

  • Satellite L505-13F - fan controller problems

    Hello

I have a pc L505-13F 3 years and I am having some problems with the fan controller. When I was watching a movie from my pc off and it was very hot. I thought it was dust on the inside, so I opened and cleaned. It was very clean.

My fan does not work very well. Looks like it works by impulses, always put in market and stop. I installed windows 7 with the original DVD and the fan works perfectly, but when I started to install the windows updates the fan stopped working again.

Do I need a new motherboard or is it only a software problem?

    Kind regards

    Hi Jung

AFAIK the cooling fan is controlled automatically and there is no special software that controls the cooling fan activity. Sensors placed on the register the temperature of the motherboard level and controls the cooling fan activity.

In the advanced power settings, you can find cooling method option and change the options for the activity of the cooling fan but I don't think it will help.

Maybe you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can help you with this.
