  • The OptiPlex 745 USFF RAM capacity

I heard through sources in partial trust team BIOS Dell has been beefing up eligible capacity of RAM (in Latitude D Series) and I was wondering if maybe the Opti 745 USFF be victim of a bump in the ability to RAM through an update of the BIOS.

The non-ultra-small-form-factor Opti s 745 have always supported 8G on four DIMM slots, but the USFF has only two DIMM slots so the RAM capacity added to the USFF 745 is 4G.  I now have 4G, but I might consider going to 8G on two DIMMs (Yes, I am running Vista 64-bit) if someone could comment on the question of whether the BIOS would support 2x4G DIMM.  Or maybe that they always supported 8G but no DIMM 4 G was available when the computer is out.  I have not sat around test RAM stuff.

Thank you for any advice, comments or especially know-how and experiences that you can provide.

Don't hold your breath on an update of the BIOS for two reasons.

    (1) the limits of the Commission themselves. The USFF chassis that is not designed to be a high-end of the heavy RAM system, as well as two slots

    (2) the system itself made direct in 2006. Dell moves on a new line of systems (160, 360, 960, F! 160) that ship now, then the R & D will be for those.

I can't think of a reason you could not slot to sticks of 4 GB using a 64 bit OS, so give it a shot and report. Worst that happens is the system fails to POST and go you back the RAM.

  • OptiPlex 745 Mini-Tower - GFX card options?

    Hi all

I own an optiplex 745 Mini-Tower and I want to install a graphics card. I read the manual and it says that its PCI Express slot is 16 x but I could not find anywhere a response on whether it is compatible PCI-E 2.0 or 3.0. This makes the choice of a quite difficult graphics card. I read somewhere that if I install a 3.0 card gfx, it would be "backward compatible" feel, he would work on a 2.0 interface (isn't that backward compatibility option depends on the entirely gfx card?) Some cards him and others not so I'm not mistaken).

So, this is the case with this model, or it is indeed a 3.0 interface?

    Could I install a 3.0 card gfx or 2.0?

    Thank you.

    jdj9

PCI-E 1.0 or 2.0 are very good.  PCI-E 2.1 or 3.0 may or may not be backward compatible. Some R4 R5 R9 of R7 of Sapphire cards do seem to work in older systems like the precision, etc. 490.  I used an ASUS GDDR5 PCI-E 3.0 GT740 and it worked fine in my 745.

The problem is that the profile for the 16 x power plug changes with version 2.1 and 3.0.  In addition, Sapphire will show they don't support UEFI BIOS systems with their R series cards.

It is also why the older variety of version 1.0 or 2.0 cards often are not seen at all on the bus 3.0 on new computers.

The Asus EAH6450 works very well in all models of Dell, in that I have tried.

Not compatible with USFF or Micro because they have no slots.

The only new parameter is the secure boot must be extinguished and CSM on for some cards to post.

ASUS EAH 6450 SILENT card fits all models of Dell who have a Slot PCI - E, meaning that it does not work with USFF due to no expansion slot. The 6450 a 2 X the number of shaders as the 5450 doesn't.

  • OptiPlex 745 Ram sticks

I got 4 sticks of memory, then my computer stopped to reach the office. I reinstalled and nothing. Then I started to remove the ram. It appears 3 sticks work very well but the 4th does not work. My question, if I want to replace this stick of memory, why online memory sellers indicate buy 2. for this computer. I only need 1 stick. This computer has a duty of memory that insists on 2 sticks? I will have to remove one ram stick works just to make room for a new stick?

SpeedStep is quite right, and that's why sellers of memory will tell you buy RAM in pairs for an Optiplex 745.

However, in your case, that you could buy just 1 "stick" If YOU BUY the EXACT SAME DIMM (stick), AS THE ONE THAT DIED.

It is also sometimes possible to mix 2 DIMM RAM ('stick') which are almost the same, but just a little different, in the same channel (white or black slots) and get away with it. I do not recommend for you and it's something I usually stay away.

    So, here are your options:
1 - Stay with your work DIMMs = 3 you have less RAM
    2. get the exact same DIMMS that one who died = RAM same as before
    3. get a pair of DIMMs either new or second-hand = change maybe, maybe not

You have not told us if you have a minitour 745, office or SFF. You can't have a USFF because that has only 2 DIMM slots. You also do not have told us that the DIMM size, it's that you have in your machine. I guess it might be 2 GB, 1 GB or maybe 512 MB.

Your machine is a bit old, and you can upgrade to a newer model. It doesn't have to be a new machine. You could get a 790 Optiplex opportunity or whatever... just something more recent.

If you want to stay with the 745 and you had an of DIMMS of 1 GB on you then you could possibly spend this channel to 2 GB DIMMs. This means that you buy 2 DIMM and you would have an extra (needless) 1 GB DIMMS on you hands after the upgrade. I hope that you do not have 512 MB DIMM.

    You have options...

Option 1 to stay with 3 DIMMs is not such a good. As a general rule, a dual channel as your motherboard will be happy with an odd number of DIMM if there is just 1 DIMMS plugged into the Board of Directors. 3 DIMMs in this kinda mobo can easily stop the mobo to boot. If yours starts with 3, then it of at least partially OK with this config and could be totally OK with it. I suppose it could be possible so that it starts and yet still ignore the 3rd DIMM. You will need to check with the OS.

Option 2 to replace the DIMM module dead with another of the [exact] same is good enough. You can most likely get another DIMM used on eBay or Amazon or. Both have good collateral. If you receive a non-working DIMMS (unlikely) you either get your money back or you get one other DIMM, but you have to complain to the seller/eBay/Amazon to get the replacement DIMM. It may or may not be difficult to find a new exact replacement for your dead DIMM. It depends on the DIMM.

Option 3 is a bit like option 2, except that you may be able to upgrade to 2 GB DIMM, if this isn't what you have now. New and second-hand DIMM is options in question.

Your 745 takes 1 GB and 2 GB DDR2 DIMMS. Those who are fairly cheap these days if you buy used them. According to my experience, RAM used on eBay/Amazon is just as good as new, but YMMV. Some people are just better feel on the purchase of new parts and get a 1 year/90 days / whatever is guaranteed. Choose wisely, grasshopper.

    Hello

    See if this helps you:

Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If you can borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft you save doing a reinstall full:

  • Dell optiplex 745 with Windows 7 Pro

I just bought a Dell Optiplex 745 refurbished with Windows 7 Pro.  It came with a HP Windows 7 Pro re install the disc and when I'm asked them thereon, they stated that a re HP install disk is identical to a Dell disk.  Is this true and if not what problems it will create if I have to re install Windows 7.

They are the two Windows 7, one that said you is accurate, but there are also significant differences.  Dell Media is intended to be installed on a Dell computer and activate automatically, without the need for manual entry of the product key.  HP is designed to do the same... on a HP machine.  There is a good chance that he would not accept the Dell product key either... even if she have installed successfully.  In addition, most of the OEM media even install on other than a machine correspondent (HP discs usually install on Dell, not vice versa).

  • Drivers for Dell OEM 7570 on Optiplex 745

So, I caught on the Bay, a video card OEM Dell 7570, which was a work of a XPS 8500 sweater, and I'll like to stick it in an optiplex 745 as an upgrade of a radeon 4650.  Tried to install it and not go.  I only get the basic windows vga (800 x 600 with 32-bit color) adapter function, when I want a 1080 p configuration (my optiplex 745 now works as a htpc), but at least I know that the card is not fried.

I also tried to install catalyst 13.1, but it does not work (I had uninstalled the prior installation of catalyst with the old drivers of HD 4000 series and also followed that upward with a wipe the previous drivers with driver sweeper befor trying variations of the catalyst)

Apparently this particular cards OEM cannot use the ordinary AMD drivers; and cannot use the drivers from Dell.  I even tried to use the 8500 XPS drivers who were for this card (once again, with an uninstall of previous catalysts and a wipe of driver before you install the drivers for the 8500 XPS for dell OEM 7570), but that didn't work.  I suspect that it is because my optiplex 745 OS is Windows Vista Business 32 bit and to Win 8 64 bit dell OEM drivers.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?  Is there a Vista 32-bit driver for Dell OEM radeon graphic card 7570?  Should I try to install 8 64-bit Windows and then try the OEM drivers?  Or tried the drop in this map, a race of fools?

Reflections and suggestions would be appreciated.

  • OptiPlex 755 USFF does not start after changing the cmos battery

I have a desktop Optiplex 755 USFF requiring the cmos battery to replace. After the replacement of the computer will not start. It brings up the menu windows start, the sasfe mode, safe mode with network set mode command prompt, security, last know good configuration and boot normally. Any option will bring to the top of the WIndows XP loading screen and then re-boot of the computer right back to the start screen. A big loop. I can get the hard drive to boot in an Optiplex GX280 without problem. I was told of the motherboard needs to be replaced, but I changed the units of the system and the same thing with this hard drive.

I tried to reinstall the operating system and get all the way to "starting windows" and then the blue screen stop error message 0x0000007B (0xF7A10524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) dead. The computer is WIndows XP SP3, 1 GB of ram with 80 GB hard drive. It seems that the Setup program does not recognize the hard drive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

After several hours of experimentation, I finally found the correct BIOS settings in order to get the computer to boot. There are three BIOS settings that need to be changed or check settings by default so that it can work. SATA 0 must be activated, SATA operations must be changed from AHCI, ATA and in the modular Bay, by default "far-sighted" should be replaced by the IDE. Save the settings and start the computer to the right upwards.

  • Any upgrade of graphics card for Optiplex 745?

Is their a video or graphics card update for an Optiplex 745? I need at least 1 GHz, 128 MB compatible 3D Open GL 2.0 video card.  Im trying to install the software of remote control airplane Simulator. My Stock card does support content (Radeon x 1300 / x 1550) not more expensive, just enough to let me install the software. OS-Windows 7. 32-bit. Please inform.

My favorite budget card is the Sapphire 6450.

  • Need a video card compatible for Dell Optiplex 745 (SFF) - help, please!

I have a Dell Optiplex 745 SFF. The details of the standard can be found here: http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/opti_745techspecs.pdf

(even once, look at the MFS)

I want to get the best possible video card for this PC that I can find, and I was hoping someone could help me with my options. I am aware of my options are limited, but I'd like to work with what I have here. Thanks much for any help.

Sapphire 7750 is the best low profile card I know. There is no need of current auxiliary and is compatible with your power supply.

SA makes a 7750 as well, but it requires more space and I don't know if it is compatible with your frame.

  • How to fix sound on computer Dell Optiplex 745

Had a Dell Optiplex 745 under Microsoft's XP computer that has failed. Bought a Dell Optiples 745 computer rebuilt under Windows 7 premium. Connected to new computer equipment has remained unchanged since the original computer. Its worked OK on old XP computer but does not work on the new Windows 7 computer. Can anyone tell how to get the sound of the new computer?

    Thanks for any help provided.
    Ray

Dell 745 is technically not supported under Windows 7 there is no drivers listed for her. However, I found the cabins of combo of Windows 7 available here http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/2065.dell-driver-cab-files-for-enterprise-client-os-deployment.aspx to halfway to the bottom of the page has solved a lack of Windows 7 drivers for the older two Dell and material not Dell question times. Scroll down to half at the bottom of page. Although the OptiPlex model figure not upgrade driver pointing to the cab file Wizard is working.
