Fault to keep Windows Update on my Windows 8 HP Pavilion g6

Dungeon of Windows updates fails on my Windows 8 HP Pavilion g6 updates first stopped loading at 13 per cent and failed, updated my printer driver, now the uploads do not reach 12 percent? Tried to "windows fixit" but who has been unable to download.

I got it exactly the same problem last year. Finally, I went and asked the geek at Staples believe it or not.

He told me to do the update "manually". and it WORKED! not the 1st time, but the 2nd time.
and it's simple to do.
Windows 8:
Drag to the right of the screen and click on "settings".
Then 'control panel '.
«system & security»
Windows Update
'check' updates you want to install one, click on "install".
It took a while to get through, but I NEVER had the problem again.
Thank you geek Staples!

  • I need to keep Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials installed?

My question is, what do I need to keep Windows Defender installed too, or I can uninstall it.

I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed and it works fine. I am running Vista 64 bit with service PK. 2 and the Defender is installed under Vista. Before MSE I used Windows Live One Care until my subscription has expired and that they did not renew it. At that point, I finally installed MSE. Windows defender can be uninstalled? It seems to be an unnecessary element in my Security Center.

    Hello

    No it can't be uninstalled

It is part of the vista operating system

by default must disable MSE, it

    If for any reason any MSE has not disabled it read this;

read the information on the below link on how to disable the windows defender service in vista or make an autostart to enable

and here is the method to remove it from startup in vista

and this is how you would normally activate or disable windows defender in vista from within defenders of own and options tools

and this is a very good Anti-Malware/spyware program to use in place of Defender

  • Again - the EULA allows to keep Windows XP after the installation and activation of a retail upgrade to Windows 7

The EULA allows to keep Windows XP after installation and activation of a retail upgrade to Windows 7?
I understand that the EULA (EULA) prohibits the USE of the operating system upgraded - must also be removed from the system?

I intend to upgrade a pre-installed Windows Media Center 2006 on a Gateway computer to a level of detail to Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit.  I am adding a new hard drive, as this case nears end of life... and plan to install the operating system upgraded to the new HD - because I have XP 32 bit to Win7-64 bit... and a "custom" installation is necessary, anyway.

This will result in an operating system XP on the old hard drive and the new OS Win7 Pro 64 - bit on the new drive.  There have been suggestions that the answer to this question is simply to remove the "old" operating system, after activating the 'new' Windows 7.  However - I see that any installation (or REINSTALLATION) of the operating system upgraded to Win 7 requires the previous XP to be "present on the computer.

QUESTION: as long as I don't 'USE' the BONE replaced/implemented to date, I am in compliance with the EULA?  Alternatively, do I install "over" this Windows Media Player OS - on the old, due to lack of hard drive?

The Media Center EULA States: «...» "15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After you upgrade, you can no longer use the software upgrade of. ... ', but is silent (as far as I can find by reading the EULA on the question of if software upgrade HAVE to be 'destroyed'.)

    (See: http://download.microsoft.com/Documents/UseTerms/Windows%207_Professional_English_7bb89e9f-20ea-4555-892f-394539ec1090.pdf "")

Thanks for your review (a reference to the appropriate Microsoft documentation would be nice too)

You said above, «...» "You will be able to upgrade to Windows XP, it is a qualification license... »

And I assume you are talking about my software Windows XP Media Center Edition (currently installed), as being a "qualification licence".

    That is right.

Are we in agreement that a copy preinstalled OEM of Windows XP Media Center Edition IS extendable with a 'detail' update the license for Windows 7?

His qualification, but you can't make a real room upgrade, you can do a custom installation. See the previous post on how to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7. An upgrade maintains the personal files, settings and installed applications.

I understand the ban on using the OEM OS software OR the upgrade replacement software on one computer other than the one on which it was originally installed by the OEM.

I also understand that I cannot use the "improved" XP Media Center software, once the upgrade of Windows 7 has occurred.

The rest to determine if it NEEDS to be deleted or replaced... you have no guidance on this issue?

Well, when you perform a custom installation, in essence, it is deleted or replaced. Then, it is part of the upgrade license. It's like it becomes a mind is more tangible, but always there as a base to which the upgrade license may exist on your system.

If your McAfee is an Internet Security Suite, and includes a firewall: No.

  • my turn DHaut windows 7 hp pavilion dv = 6c27d keeps looking every 30 seconds

Why my laptop hp windows 7 keeps searcjing every 30-seaconds

Original title: my turn DHaut windows 7 hp pavilion dv = 6c27d

    Hello Terry,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I'll certainly try and help you in the matter of fixing.

To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. Since when are you facing the issue?

    2. you have any security program installed on the computer?

    3. What do you mean exactly when you say that Windows starts the search every 30 seconds?

    4. are you aware of any recent software or hardware on the computer changes?

You can perform research and solving problems of indexing and check if it helps. If the problem persists, you can run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check for infections.

Note: there is a risk of data loss if all the files are infected and which can be removed in the cleaning process.

Hope that information was useful and provide us with more information if you need help in the future. We will be happy to help you.

  • Windows 8 came pre-installed on a hp tower built, am now upgrading my computer, how can I keep windows?

Windows 8 came pre-installed on a hp Tower pre-built, am now upgrading my computer (new Mobo, Cpu, Gpu, cases, etc.) and guard my drive hard, how can I keep windows? or I have to buy a new product key?

    Hello

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

The problem description, I understand that you want to upgrade the hardware and need to confirm how can you keep your operating system.

In this case, I want to tell you that you want to keep your drive hard if you do not have to reinstall the operating system and that you upgrade the motherboard too and in the OEM version product key is integrated motherboard, so in this case, you may need contact system manufacturing to re activate your product key.

    For reference, please see:

    I hope this helps.

If you are offered several times the same updates, then you can follow the link below:

Do you keep the updates for years even if they repeat that they are too much space.

Updates will have only the space they need and remove only you will leave vulnerable and you will be prompted to update again anyway.

However, you can use disk cleanup-
