Feature of multimedia keys with legacy F1 - F12 - hotkey swap switch

I just bought a new W540 and it is almost impossible to work with common software that strongly use the F1 to F12 keys. Whenever I want to use the F1 - F12 keys, I must also the Fn key. For me, this is a problem of my previous machine T510 change...

Is there a way to override the default behavior of the multimedia keys with keys F1 to F12 inherited?

Thank you.

Good day and welcome to the community.

Take a look on > http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T440-Reverse-FN-Key/m-p/1422663

and see if your W540 has a similar way to exchange the key functions such as the T440.

Kind regards.

  • Dell KB213 - how to make multimedia keys work?

I wonder how to get the sound and video keys (as well as the ' Moon') to do something on my new XPS 8700 machine.  Currently, they seem to be ineffective.

So far, I can't find any records for this keyboard.  'Help' has keyboards a lot of facts about the old fashioned with PrntScrn NumLock and Pause/break keys, but not what Dell supplied with my Special Edition XPS 8700.

And while I'm, what happened to the adjustment of the angle?  This keyboard is too flat on my desk to type easily.  Maybe I'll just spend my old Dell keyboard of nine year for this one!

I tested it a bit on my Satellite P200 and I wasn't able to set up the play button to start WinAmp, but you can configure these buttons to work with WinAmp. It is very easy:

After doing this, you will be able to use the multimedia keys with WinAmp, but you probably won't be able to open WinAmp when you press the 'play' button.

  • Qosmio G50 - 12R XP drivers for the multimedia keys

    Hello

My company bought some Qosmio G50 - 12R notebooks to install professional software. I said, I want mobile computers with Windows XP, but these PCs are on Vista. I tried to install the software on Vista and Windows 7 RC but without success. We decided to install Windows XP pro and now all the software are OK, but we get to find all the XP drivers.

Drivers for multimedia keys (light, Center of dolby,...) and especially the Fn keys (Wifi enabled, brightness, its zoom,...).

Are someone finds a way to use these features in windows XP?

    Thank you

    Hello

Qosmio F50/G50 series are released with Vista and Win XP is not supported on these books.
Win XP was good but now Windows 7 is the King and I doubt he comes out drivers for older operating system

So I think that you will have to use this device without having the possibility of using the Fn keys or multimedia keys

  • Satellite A300-1tim: - issue of the multimedia keys

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-1tim: PSAGCE-08X00GPL.
After reinstalling Windows (Vista 32 bit), everything was fine until the moment when I wanted to turn off the backlight touch multimedia keys, those just above the keyboard (above the F1 to F12 keys).

Mute, play/pause, stop and change of tracks in Windows Media Player buttons worked very well, except the second button - turning on WMP (but it was flashing after pressing).

Some time ago, I had these configured buttons in a way the first person (currently silent) turned to the large backlit, second one - a shot on Winamp.

I installed the package of added value and Toshiba Assist. Now, in Toshiba Assist, after choosing "Toshiba buttons" I only empty fields.
When I chose to browse and dir: TBS try to choose any function (e.g. drive - disable backlit) it appears in the path and Description sections, I can type something in Option, but nothing appears in the section last but the most important: button name, has nothing to choose, blind fields on the list.

Of course after you press the register there is no response when I press any button.
Maybe someone has seen something like that?

HWSetup I can turn back-lit, but this is not the point, I would do it with a single button as before.
Value added package 1.1.19 installed with FeatureSelect.ini 1.1.14 (common failure of Toshiba) also chcked v. 1.1.14 (two versions available)
    BIOS 2.20
    Toshiba Assist 2.01.04

Checked the registry and saw that I have all the keys in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Toshiba\TBS\DefaultSet ting\
I don't want to dirty it so I did not change anything

BTW, sory for my English: bravohelen:

  • Multimedia keys works do not (sort of)

    Hello!

I have a problem with the multimedia keys on my keyboard (Zalman K200M). However, there is no dedicated driver from the producer.
When I installed a fresh W8.1 all the multimedia keys worked fine (mail, internet, calc, WMP control) and while they began the system default programs.

1 * when I installed an of Comodo Dragon browser and Mozilla Thunderbird keys seem to stop working...
Well, they work when the programs are already open ('House' opens the homepage and 'mail' will to thunderbird).
Meanwhile, media control buttons (play, back/next) brought on player Winyl, any type of program was running.

2 * looking for a solution, I installed the centre of keyboard and mouse. Unfortunately, it does not support my keyboard BUT just install the program made the 'House' and 'mail' buttons work - now I can open my programs from anywhere. But now the media control keys only work if the window Winyl is chosen. With WMP, they work very well.

Uninstalling the mouse and the keyboard Center keeps me coming back to 1 *.

Is it possible to make all keys work with customized programs?

    Hi Tornadow,

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

I understand that the multimedia and special keys do not work on your keyboard. You may experience this problem if the necessary drivers are corrupt or if the equipment is defective.

Microsoft provides generic drivers for most of the keyboards, however the specific function as multimedia keyboard functions are handled by the manufacturer-specific triggers. Center Microsoft Mouse and keyboard will allow some Windows features.

Download mouse and keyboard Center to get the best out of Windows 8

  • Satellite Pro L10 multimedia keys

    Hello
I have problem with media player and multimedia keys.
When I listen to music (Media Player is minimized in my task bar) and I want to go to the next/previous track using the multimedia keys it always causes restoration of the window of the media player. I tried to reinstall the hotkey utility, but it does not change the behavior of the multimedia keys. I don't know how to change that because it irritates me that I have to minimize Windows Media Player each time when I change the song.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi viper

I have Satellite 1900 and on my machine there are buttons to control the media player on the front of the laptop. I checked on my unit and this doesn't happen. Sorry, but I can't explain why this happen to you, but try to check all the settings on Windows media player.

  • Satellite A300-20 q two multimedia keys do not work

I have my Satellite A300-20 q a year and a half. Recently (a week) ago two of the six multimedia keys works in a strange way:

At first things that remained functional:

    -Each button MM (MMB) changes its light when they are affected;
-play, stop, forward and back buttons work when you start Windows Media Player.
    -I turn on the laptop by pressing the CD/DVD key;
-lights up button is activated and deactivated when I run the dimmer.exe application.

    What no longer works:

-lights button on / off don't turn the lights on and outside
-Button CD/DVD does not take Media Player
-both of these buttons don't not launch any application related to them: I can attribute an application, the software remembers the lines of command, but touch these two buttons, nothing happens (and, of course, the solution described in the next topic http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=134226 does not work in my case).

I recently made only two changes in the configuration of the computer: installed CygWin and VMWare. I also tried to install CygWin a pair of months and didn't expect problems with the buttons at this time. So I suspect that VMWare has changed something in the configuration of Windows.

    Any suggestions?

    > recently has just two changes in the configuration of the computer: installed CygWin and VMWare

The problem is installed VMWare (virtual machine)
I read a few threads on the same issue and this tool (VMWare) affect the functionality of the multimedia keys!
You have to remove it and you will see that the buttons works again

    Welcome them

His must be on so that its capable of reading software screen can read the screen to it. No noise, it cannot use the laptop.

I tried the Toshiba assist - optimize.

For the most part the media buttons don t work because a driver problems (Toshiba control buttons). I had a similar problem with my laptop and I could solve it easily.
The reinstallation of the Toshiba and controls of Toshiba common Modules should help you recover the functionality of buttons.
