FF3.3 I.e. imported bookmarks etc and since impossible to access Gmail
After much harassment from Gmail on I.E. 9, I decided to use FF as my main browser.
I used occasionally on this PC for a few years but never imported knowledge Favorites/Cookies etc.
As soon as I had finished what I found I could not access my gmail accounts.
Gmail now says: "We have detected a problem with your cookies settings.".
It seems impossible to get past this message.
I even uninstalled Firefox and re-installed to see she must have left some files and have settings imported from I.E.
If I can't solve this problem quickly, I have to completely remove FireFox from my machine and resort to using Chrome.
Can someone help me to run FF, or instruct me on how to remove the residual files completely firefox and all!

I don't want to use Internet Explorer more and I was wondering if I would lose any data such as bookmarks, I transferred more IE to Firefox, if I deleted the IE program. ?
Users cannot uninstall IE altogether, although the updates of your original version can be removed (or so I am led to believe). IOW, you would end up with IE8.
No, you will not lose any Firefox user trying to remove IE.

Newer Dell computers have a built-in hard disk system recovery partition. To access it, press CTRL + F11 right after turning on the computer.
If this does not work, you can do the same thing with the recovery system provided with your computer CD.

my profile to update automatically when I add bookmarks etc.
I read on the profile and where to find it. It updates automatically every time that I add new bookmarks etc AND how should I back up my profile on a key whenever I have add bookmarks etc to the profile please. I just changed for Firefox of IE8.
Thank you
Pingu70I know how to find my profile, it will automatically update each time that I add new bookmarks etc AND how should I back up my profile on a stick:
The files in your profile are updated When you close Firefox, and your backups/restores/renames/deletes of files must be made when Firefox is down. Once a day early morning when Firefox is running, your favorites are saved by Firefox in the bookmarkbackups folder.
You do not want to save your bookmarks, whenever you have changed the (at least I don't). You can create your own backup of your bookmarks to your USB drive at any time through Firefox and restore this backup at any time through Firefox perhaps half a minute to make either once you press the button.
What I really recommend that when Firefox is declining would backup not only your current profile, but all your Firefox profiles and that should fit on most USB sticks that you can buy today.
Profile - backup:
You should support your Firefox profiles, there is not a lot of data, and you should be back up frequently. There is much more data to other applications in your Windows user library and you should be backup data there, too. When you back up all your data to external hard drive (500 GB to 3 TB) user profiles Firefox would be included.
But it's about Firefox. For Firefox, a USB key would probably suffice to backup one or more profiles.
backup of your Firefox profiles (the following is all on one line)
- xcopy C:\Users\< user name>/d/h/y/c/q/s \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.* g:\profiles\*.*
If you want to carry your bookmarks with refer you to them you would not use the backup .json because it is only for restoration with a complete replacement of your bookmarks. If you want something you can see elsewhere that you might want to put a file to bookmarks exported on your USB key as well.
Don't know if you know how to use XCOPY to a .bat file or not, but that's how I got all my backups made with applications not least not applications that use files running. The following will not help much if you are not familiar with them.

For those who may not know how to find their profile just type on: support support on the address bar, and then click the "Open folder containing" in the troubleshooting information page. If Firefox does not work, you may need to use other means.

I HAVE FF 3.6.21 is FF4 a brand new installation or does install over the existing installation. It doesn't matter not settings, Favorites, passwords stored, etc., or what I need to add to all of this. Finally, if I don't like FF4 can I easily return to FF3
Firefox 4 is no longer available. If the upgrade, the only version that you can / must go is Firefox version 6.0.1. Firefox 7.0 is scheduled to be released on 27/09/2011 (date is subject to change). After Firefox 4.0, the previous version is "abandoned" as long as the updates of security and stability are concerned and each update replaces the previous version.
Firefox 6 installation will preserve your prerequisites, passwords, bookmarks etc. Can / should make a backup of your personal information for safety; What happens if you have a hard drive failure?
- See back up your data and profile backup
To test the new version 6.0.1 and exit your current Firefox 3.6.21 intact, you can install Firefox Portable. Firefox Portable is not produced by Mozilla (but it is based on the versions of Firefox released) and only is not supported on this site - has its own support forum (see below). Firefox Portable installs in a separate folder on your hard drive and keeps his profile (personal information) separate so that it does not interfere with your current installation of Firefox or privacy settings (Favorites, passwords, etc.). You can also install Firefox Portable on a USB/thumb/pin/jump drive.

I'm in Italy, but need to FF in English. The shop that built my PC to install it in Italian.
Since I'm now on 37 FF, I thought I could just download 38 English and install it. But that's assuming, of course, that during installation, 38 FF will ask if I want to import my passwords, bookmarks etc. of 37 before overwriting.
BUT... I don't know he will ask and fear that 38 will overwrite 37, until I realize he won't ask.
(In research on language issues in FF, I discovered tools > Options > content > language, which I guess - now, it is set to EN - me 38 FF will fetch in English).Hello FxFx, the language in the options option > content will report only to Web sites what is your preferred language.
You can switch from an Italian firefox 37.0.2 to a generation of 38.0 English by downloading the latest version from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ and install just on top of your current installation - this will not affect and keep all your data such as bookmarks or passwords automatically, because they are stored separately in your profile folder , which is independent of the version of firefox you are running...

Before I uninstalled FF, I saved bookmarks etc. Now, I reinstalled so, how do I import now?
Install MozBackup, then follow these instructions.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/MozBackup - see - restore/migration - and then use the restore option -
Old installation of Windows and where winning FF stopped working. Have reinstalled on the new drive win and FF and import bookmarks from the old install on the old disk. The files are always accessible. None of the listed options explain another FF FF import that create a new profile that will not work in this case.
Just as a reference, when you explore your old hard drive, will seek you:
E:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
(the drive letter may vary)
If Windows hides the AppData folder on the old disk, you can disable hide files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then you can get off and find the folder bookmarkbackups containing .jsonlz4 files.

IE 8 is still installed, but will not work. I can not install any version of IE - I tried. I can import only first level bookmarks. Solutions in the forum assume IE 8 work.
If you have problems with importing IE bookmarks in Firefox, then export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you don't have the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then right-click on the toolbar above to activate the menu bar.
- Export Favorites in Internet Explorer to a file (bookmarks.html) HTML:
File > import and export - Import HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > import bookmarks HTML: file
See "Import from another browser" and "import from file":

Hello
I'm moving from Chrome to Firefox and had a quick question. I was thinking of using the beta version of Firefox 13, but I was wondering if I switch to the final version when it comes out, Firefox will remember my passwords, bookmarks, etc.. ?
glad you like the improvements in the speed and functionality of the current firefox. during the passage of the version beta to the release version, that you don't have to uninstall the beta version at all. Just download firefox getfirefox.com 13 (he was scheduled to be released June 5) and install it. It will replace the beta version of the program automatically & keep all your changes...
