Field length restrictions

Hello

I have a postal code field which is currently limited to 7 characters, including space. The format is A0A0A0 and the program will automatically space in the Middle when the user moves on.  I want the user to enter only 6 characters, but if I put this restriction, he hides one of the letters that he counts as one of the 6 characters.  If I change to allow the 7 characters, the user can enter the all 7 characters, but I only want to hire 6 more to always leave a space. Does make sense?

Well,.

There are several ways to achieve this.

The simplest would be the model text {A0A 0 to 0} (with a space in fourth place) and a limit of 6 characters.

Another option would be a regular expression that enables the two variations of entry (limited to 7 characters with space and 6 characters without spaces), but these are a different story and all but trivial.

  • Did not update the field lengths

    All,

    I changed the lengths of field forms all day to IOM 9.1, and it does not update the actual column length when the form is activated. I came back to directly update to the sizes of the column in the database to get things to work. I missing something here, or are completely useless in IOM field length variations?

    My experience is the same. You cannot change just reliable lengths using the client interface design.

    Slightly irritating and very dangerous if you don't know the question.

  • VCS certificate field length

    When you create a CSR fields like O, OU, etc. are limited in length.

    For a specific customer us without having to enter a text string in the field O (Organization), which is longer than the permitted length.

    Can submit us CSR without the full text string? PKI will provide a cert with the complete text string in the field O.

    This will be a problem to download the cert on the VCS? He'll take the length of the field O?

    Rgds, Geert.

    I assume you are using the wizzard on the web page of the VCS?

    Two views on this:

    * do you really need that long information in these areas?

    * the wizzard is only an aid and may have its limits, but you are not bound to it,

    You can also use as openssl.

  • Create Acrobat with JavaScript form field and restrict numeric values only

    Hello

    I use a JavaScript loop to create a number of similar form fields. I'm trying to restrict the data entered in these fields of numbers only. I am able to validate the figures who are registered, but the fields still accept text, I don't want to. How can I make sure that text is not accepted?

    Script:

    var x 1 = 53;
    var y1 = 358;
    var x 2 = 123;
    var y2 = 340;

    for (var i = 1; i < 18; i ++) {}
    var name = "MyField" + i;
    var type = "text";
    var page = 1;
    rental var = [x 1, y1, x 2, y2];
    myField var = this.addField (name, type, page, location);
    myField.textSize = 10;
    myField.setAction ("Post", "AFRange_Validate (true, 0, true, 100) '");
    myField;
    Y1-= 18;
    Y2-= 18;
    };

    For example, if you want to display 2 digits to the right of the decimal separator with a comma of any currency symbol, thousands separator, you need to add:

    myField.setAction ('Format', ' AFNumber_Format (2, 0, 0, 0,-"\", false); ");

    myField.setAction ('Touch', ' AFNumber_Keystroke (2, 0, 0, 0,-"\", false); ");

  • Field length 2000 characters

    Experts, I have a domain that has 2 k characters. The company does not view 2 k characters both for his report which has 100 records as he would shake up the user interface. Anyone knows anyway to display fewer characters and then if the user clicks/hover on this column, the display of full 2 k characters, or a pop up is in place.

    THX,
    Parag

    Hi Prag,

    You must create two reports (main report, drill holes in the report).

    Open your main report and then select your field column and then click on--> FX and then apply the below statement.

    1 case when length (field name) > 100 then cast (your domain name like varchar (40)). Cast ('... ("in the varchar (3)) else your end field name

    2 cage navigate report as below.

    Select your name field then give is invited to drill repot then apply to drill holes in the navigation report to the main report (did you write a case statement of the above column).

    Note: Replace instead of the name of the field to the column name.

    Hope this helps

  • Model name length restrictions

    Using trial and error with the Oracle-Jena adapter, I think having discovered an upper limit of 25 characters on the length of the names of model RDF Oracle lets you create. Can someone check it for me? If so, I'm curious to know why 25 was chosen. Is this an arbitrary length chosen in the Java code, or is it a restriction imposed by the database itself? This length is hardcoded or is it configurable somehow?

    It is imposed by the database. It is not configurable. Database is limited to 30 bytes. Internally, we need to use a few bytes ourselves (as the suffix etc.). If you see 25.

    The only way you will get th ephotos to day after the form has been returned is by delivering the content of the picture in a web service call. You can have the content image base64 encoded and put in a string in the WS call (in output). Then you can bind this production line to the CImage th field and it will work. You can not Acrobat/Reader recover images once the form has been made. This has been disabled for reasons of security from version 8 I think.

    Good question.  You've seen the formatting that you can do with SimpleDateFormat.  Maybe something like this where the formatted string is actually included in the label, the label can so say something like

    If you want to do the 2 entries in fields like the date, you can do this by putting several fields in a horizontal region Manager too

  • CONNECTION WITH THE HELP OF THREE FIELDS

    Hello

    Im trying to create a login form in Dreamweaver using the Connection Wizard but its only limited to using two fields are the username and password.

    Is there a way I can include another field to restrict a user to a certain vision, for example by using type + username + password.

    Thanx

    You can't do it with the Connection Wizard. You must manually create a form and then apply the server behavior.

    That said, you should not continue to rely on the Dreamweaver server behaviors. They have been removed from Dreamweaver CC because they use functions that no longer work in the current version of PHP (7.0). Even if your site uses PHP 5, you are living on borrowed time. As soon as your server is upgraded to PHP 7, your site will stop working.

  • Download a binary file using sockets without known length

    Hi all

    I am trying to download a binary (.exe) file using the socket, where the length of the file is not known. Please take a look at the code I use:

    var readBin = socketBin.read ();

    <-here's the code that checks the http Content-length header field

    ; If the field length of the content is available, then I will use it to download files, otherwise continue with the following code-->

    "pBar.reset (download plugin..", null); pBar.hit (readBin.length);

    While (1)

    {

    binFil.write (readBin);     'binFil' is the file in which the uploaded file is written.

    readBin = socketBin.read ();

    pBar.hit (readBin.length);

    If (socketBin.eof | readBin.length < = 0) {}

    Break ;}

    }

    binFil.write (readBin);

    binFil.close ();

    socketBin.close ();

    Problem is: I am able to download files within 10 seconds when the content length is known. But when the content length is not known, its about 1 and a half minute to download, also the progress bar gets hit for much of the time.

    FYI: socket is opened in binary mode, file is downloaded correctly (even if it takes abt a minute). BTW Im using extendscript CS5.5

    I am not able to understand where is the bug.

    Hi, Srikanth:

    Several points.

    #1 during the validation of code, please use the web interface and the > icon and choose syntax highlighting > Java. Otherwise your code is simply too difficult to read and gets the poster.

    #2 #1 apropos, your script, as written does not work, because this line:

    url=url.replace(/([a-z]*):\/\/([-\._a-z0-9A-Z]*)(:[0-9]*)?\/?(.*)/,"$ 1/$2/$3/$4");

    has an extra $ 1 space and should be this:

    url=url.replace(/([a-z]*):\/\/([-\._a-z0-9A-Z]*)(:[0-9]*)?\/?(.*)/,"$1/$2/$3/$4");

    Please take an extra moment to ensure that when ask you for help, you do so in a way that makes sense. Otherwise, it takes too much effort to help you, and it's frustrating.

    #3 If equip them us your script by adding a line to the loop while():

                while (1)
                {
                    binFil.write(readBin);
                    readBin = socketBin.read();
                    $.writeln(Date()+" Read "+readBin.length+" chars, eof is "+socketBin.eof);
                    if(  readBin.length<=0){         break;}
                }

    We get the output like this:

    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:06:56 GMT-0400 Read 1024 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:06:56 GMT-0400 Read 1024 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:06:56 GMT-0400 Read 1024 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:06:56 GMT-0400 Read 631 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:07:06 GMT-0400 Read 0 chars, eof is false
    Result: undefined

    So, we can reasonably conclude that the last reading at the end of the stream returns a short read when the other side blocks.

    Unfortunately, this is clearly insufficient since you can get short readings all the time.

    I don't know why you say we do not know the length of the file, HTTP, it provides you the Content Length of the response field.

    But the easy answer is to get the server to close for you. It's easy enough, with connection: close. Why were specify you

    Connection: keep-alive, what? :

                var requestBin =
                "GET /" + parsedURLBin.path + " HTTP/1.1\n" +
                "Host: " + parsedURLBin.address + "\n" +
                "User-Agent: InDesign ExtendScript\n" +
                "Accept: */*\n" +
                //"Connection: keep-alive\n\n";
                "Connection: close\n"+
                "\n";

    This gives a nice tidy:

    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:26:19 GMT-0400 Read 1024 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:26:19 GMT-0400 Read 1024 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:26:19 GMT-0400 Read 1024 chars, eof is false
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:26:19 GMT-0400 Read 735 chars, eof is true
    Mon Jul 11 2011 12:26:19 GMT-0400 Read 0 chars, eof is true

    I suspect, you are better to use something like socketBin.read(64*1024) for a 64 k buffer size, but it doesn't seem to affect the on-the-wire protocol, so maybe its not so important.
