  I have load data in one of the X number of columns when you press a button. If you press button 1 and text for the button one load in say 4 columns. Then, when you press the button 2, it can load in 2 columns.

• Need help to fill in a text box in a drop-down list.

  I think I have most of the code and correct settings, but I need help.

  I have a drop down list that is populated with 3 States. When a certain State is selected in the drop-down list, I need a text box to fill with tax information for each State. I list them set up variables that define the drop-down list data and the data that I want to appear in the text box. I also code basic javascript in place - but it is not perfect.

  The problems I'm having with the dynamic .pdf file include:

  1. where a State is selected in the drop-down list, the user must first click the text box so that the appropriate text appears in the box.

  2. when a State is selected in the drop-down list and the user clicks on the text box to display the text of tax info, tax info text does not change as it should if a user selects a different State in the drop-down list.

  3. the tax information in the text box will appear for 2 States (what is because the variable list that I put in place for these States has too many characters of text? Is there a way to bypass this limitation?)

  Can someone help me change the javascript code and settings that I use to make the text field to fill in correctly? It is the first project of livecycle that I tried and my first experience with javascript.

  As far as I saw, most of the smartphones will automatically recognize it these days, as long as the number is written in a format of regular phone number. This format also allows to make images or text other than a telephone number in a tap to call the link.

  Text frames can be useful, and they can also get on your way. If you do not need the ability to change things on all pages of the document by editing the main storyline, you might be better to not use main text blocks.

  That said, if you do want to use master text frames you shouldn't be releasing the main frame to the document (by Command-Shift clicking) page on the first page and then adding the placeholder text him.   Hello! I'm only a graphics person, and I am just with simple scripts. I'm trying to shoot only the first initial of the PatientName_First field and have it fill in the PatientName_Initial field in the master page so that the initials of the patient will be displayed on each page of the form.

  Please do not die of laughing at my attempt to Frankenstein a script from another form in this one, I really know anything yet, but I'm learning. I was not yet able to make JavaScript work - had more success with FormCalc.

  I don't know if that's a problem, but the form must remain static. iPad can not yet read dynamic forms, and I must be compatible iPad.

  Here you go:

  1. remove all the code in the event of 'change' for the PatientName_First field.  This event fires on each typed character, and in this case, you don't need to trap all the characters.

  2. Add the following code to the event "exit" to PatientName_First:

  When the name is in the main form, the calculate event fires and the script will be executed. The script will be the first name that was entered and set the initial field to the first character in the name.  Check the name = null is important because the calculate event fires when the form is opened first, before whatever it is entered.  We check to make sure there is at least one character in the first name field before trying out the first character.

  There is no need to use a dynamic form to do this, so it should work on an iPad.  Unfortunately, I can't test that.

  InDesign CS3, Mac and PC - seen as the problem on some Macs, not all, but some still have / get this error.

  I made a script that collects the text of some managers of related texts:

  This page of color in my INDD document a lot of transparency on this - in the following stacking order:

  1. downstairs are two boxes gradients covering the entire page.

  2. next is a background photo that's an advantage to feathers.

  3. then comes my text box that floats over a part of the photo in the background. The text box is filled with a gradient purple feather. The text box contains 8.5 PT. White type (Helvetica Neue Medium).

  4. a transparent dingbat straddles a corner of the text box.

  Where the white guy is pictured in the background, a color is reflected type. I have not noted on the PDF, but of course, the work of back of the printer, you can see.

  I pulled out the file using PDFX-3 (1.3) because my printing does service provider ' t supports the 1.4. I underdstand this version flattens transparency. I scanned "Print Production Guide for transparency" Adobe and learned that the areas of complex transparency can cause unexpected results. Is what happened here?

  When I opened the flattening of transparencies and he asked to highlight objects with 'Text of Raster-Fill and Stroke' or 'Text described', this type area is highlighted. No other boxes on this page type were noted, even where it overlaps the background photo (which has applied feather).

  It is possible in the more recent versions of ID to the value of transparency to the object, STROKE, fill and levels of content, and I suspect that you have applied your effects to the object level. I was able to recreate what you see as well by using the gradient feather tool and in the effect controls panel and using the pen it y to the entire object. Oddly enough, once the gradient feather tool has been used I couln can't access options in the effect controls panel or in the menu object.

  In all cases, if you can, select the block of text, open the effect controls panel or object > Effects > menu feather degraded, remove the gradient feather and reapply just the filling.

  If you are not able to do so, copy the text, delete the block of text and create a new and paste back the text, and then select the image and apply the gradient feather to complete using the effect controls panel or the menu object.

  My order of "Fill with placeholder text" no longer works.  No text only inserted when I select the command. (He used to work. I used it a lot.) I have read on the substitution.txt file and made my own and place in the InDesign Application folder, following the instructions that I found on one of the forums.  I can see the file, and it is named correctly. But I still get all inserted text.  It seems that something is broken. It's like InDesign does not see the substitution.txt file, even if it's in the right place. (I use CS5.1).   I have to fill with placeholder text works again. In my opinion, it may have been something fishy with the sequence of several frames on the line that has been not to let the text get inserted. I'm embarrassed to say that I did not sufficiently stable before that I blamed the control. I did learn some things, however, and appreciate the advice I got.

  With the text tool in the ready to type text block. Choose file > export > RTF (Rich Text Format)

  For all text to export text all images must be strung. If they don't you will have to do them individually.

  If you just want a select few paragraphs then highlight and choose then export > RTF

  Which can be opened in Word with all styles of tact.

  It is unclear with your workflow is here, can you elaborate on what you are trying to do?
