file history slowing FF

Firefox has been making slower to load pages, etc. In an effort to solve the problems it I removed the stories and now it's quick zippy again. Happy ending, right? My history file was gigantic... It was perhaps slightly corrupted, but I think it was just the branching natural to use FF every day, all day for more than a year on the same profile. BTW, in the past I had created new profiles to solve this same problem.

I hate losing my story though. I wish there was an option to define how long history has been preserved, something like a week or a month a year or forever. Perhaps this keep the small history file and help with the speed problems that everyone has from time to time.

Firefox increases the file places.sqlite in segments of 10 MB to prevent too much fragmentation of the files.

If you delete the places.sqlite file, but simply deleted the history in Firefox, then the file size has not changed.

You know what was the size of places.sqlite file, when you had problems?

You can try to check and repair the database of places with this extension, if there are problems.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook 17: Error in file history

64 bit. I'm trying to use the history of files to back up my files on a 16 GB Lexar (F) drive on a usb port. I get an error message saying that the drive is not connected. It is false, that I am able to save files individually in the drive. I tried to disable and re-enable the drive. The drive appears in good health until I try to run the history file.

It's a tiny USB - don't forget that file history will catch everything that is in your library, including your files to a disk if they are "available offline".  Data can add up quickly.  The smile.

    A few ideas

    • You could try to format the drive in NTFS and see if that helps.
    • The USB is maybe just too small; Try a larger drive.  OR > reduce the folders in your libraries.
    • You can try another brand - from his personal experience, I found that not all USB keys are equal for all tasks.  We can fight it or just try something else.

Once you get the running configuration: you can view the event log history file under Advanced settings.

  • After the upgrade to windows 8.1 says file history offline reader

My windows 8 upgraded to 8.1 en from there it says that I need to reconnect my drive as I've changed nothing except to do a disk clean up nothing changed. 24 of Firefox does not connect to internet

I also got the notice that the history file drive has been disconnected. I saved files from my laptop on an external hard drive (passport) and because the cell phone was also necessary for ten days, the files were not registered and historical files offline. I have do it I have turned off before disconnecting the external drive. I accidentally solved the problem in this way: I unplugged the hard drive, off file history, reconnect the hard drive where it was (on a hub port), the race clicked for the history of the files. He told me to choose a reader and I chose the Passport, the reader, he had said repeatedly he could not recognize. Then he asked me if I wanted to transfer files that were saved in the meantime on the Passport. Before, I said yes (it seemed logical), and always leading to the history of the files being disconnected. This time, I said, no, and the history of the files went on without any problems, I can say.

I hope this helps someone else.

  • How to set file history to record two different readers to save time.

Is it possible to configure the file history to record on two different disks at the same time?

What I want to do: save file on an external USB drive and an internal HARD drive history.

Why I want to do: I'm paranoid about some virus removal/encrypt the content of all my discs.  With an external drive that is kept offline my important documents are kept safe.

OneDrive, or any other cloud storage, is NOT an option.

    Hello Tony,.

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

You can create backup using the file history on one of the drivers on your computer and you can copy and save it to the external hard drive. Or, you can create a backup manually on both disks one after the other. There is no setting through which you can simultaneously save the backup on two different disks.

  • File history player is broken, how historic cleaning

I used to have an external HARD drive to save a copy of my files, my hard drive broke down and I worked in jeopardy for weeks without backup. Is it possible that my entire history file has been saved on my C:\ drive since he was not able to find the old broken external HARD disk to manage my history file?

Now, I have configured my file history to go on a server accessible files only for me. A new backup of my files have been made on this network location. But I've now left only 1 GB on my C drive and I think it's because the file history have preserved a copy of my history of file on my C drive instead. Now, when I go to remove the earlier version later, it tries to go delete on my old broken external HDD. Am I stupid to think it was somehow cached on my C drive? If so, how can I remove this cache of version control?

    Hello

I understand the inconvenience caused to you. I will certainly help you in this matter.

Let me inform you, there may be several reasons that the size of the C: drive is increased. Under normal circumstances, it is not the history of files gets record on drive C:, unless you change the settings or if you have a third upward / software tool.

    I would like to know;

    • You have a third party to the high tool?

Since you mentioned do increases the size of the C: drive, I wish that you find the folder in the C: drive with the largest size and check the data in the folder. If you see the data of the HARD disk on the C: drive, it would be appreciated if you can provide us with the screenshot of the file, so we can help you to recover files and folders.

Please refer to the article below, how to include a screenshot in your message

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/wiki/windows_other-windows_programs/how-to-include-a-screenshot-in-your-post/2594b08e-32a3-476A-85A6-b021181be7e4

In this case remove the cache on the disk, the safest way to remove the cache is to run a cleaning disc, however, before we do that, I would like to know what kind of files they are.

You can try to free disk space and check if this can help, follow the links below:

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

  • How to use a partition on a hard disk internal to the file history

I try to use a partition on my hard drive for the file history. When I open the history file it says "no usable disk found. I allocated about 50 GB of the partition. The size of partition of the problem or do not like the internal disks for the windows backup? If the disk is too small if you please could you recommend a minimum size and if windows does not like the internal drives for backup could you please tell me how to solve this problem.

Note:    I know it's a bad habit to save on the hard drive, the same that your files are on, but the point of this backup is not file security, more so I can go back to older versions of files such as windows 7 versions. I have an external hard drive dedicated with full backups, but it does not gives me the opportunity to return to an older version of a file at any time as the historical file is that I'm not wearing my backup drive wherever I go.

    Thanks in advance

Try to make a file on your partition named FileHistory.  .   Right-click and select Properties.   Share it.

  • Impossible to implement the file history or select a drive

bought a new laptop from HP Envy with Win 8.1.  Try to put in place the history of the files so I can save not only the computer, but my personal folder on the computer.  Unable to set a record.  When I search the history file, file history is disabled and grayed out - I can't activate it.  When I click on 'choose a player' I I get a message that found no usable disc, but there is a player of DVD - RW (e :)) and 3 USB ports for flash (f) readers.  Why one of them cannot be used, and why can't the message "no usable disk were found" to activate the backup and set up the process?  Thanks for your help with this.

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

In this case, I you suggest to create a new user account and then try history of the configuration files and check if the problem persists. This is to check if the problem is caused due to any user profile related question or not.

See the following article from Microsoft Help to create the new user account.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=Windows-8

Also, try to install the latest drivers, including drivers for the chipset and check if it helps.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/all-drivers

For more information, you can consult the following article from Microsoft Help to the history of the configuration files.

Just reply to the State of the question so that we can help solve you this problem.

  • Records duplicated when you work with the file history

I look at the file history.
I wonder what happens if you have a folder contained in the two favourites and libraries. Things get backed up twice or is smart enough history to only backup files?

For example: I have a user named Woody, and of course Woody has a documents folder.  For convenience in obtaining these records quickly one can be in the Favorites and the other in libraries.  Because Woody the folder called documents I wonder if the history of the files will save this directory twice?

    Thank you

You can remove duplicates of files and documents. Perform the following steps to change the settings.

    (a) press the Windows key and the X key.
    (b) select Control Panel . Click Show all.
    (c) click file transfer. Click Settings in advance .
    (d) select the desired option in keep recorded versions in the menu drop-down.

You can clean or remove the previous version as well. On the same page as mentioned above, click clean Versions. Select the appropriate option and delete the rest.

If you are still unable to work with her, I suggest you try the option of recovering files of Windows 7 available in the Panel. However, steps above should solve your problem.
