More than 50% CPU usage by explorer.exe * 32 in idle state

Hello

I have 49 and 50% CPU usage just for the explorer.exe process, it started a week back. The speed of my computer slowed down considerably and it also warms up a bit. After looking at the subjects similar in different forums, I stopped all the MSCONFIG startup items, but the problem remains. Any help would be really appreciated.

  • Cannot start a virtual machine with more than 1 CPU socket added

I've set up a few boxes of ESXi 5.5 with the free license in recent weeks, they have all been without problems so far. All 4 servers have the same exact hardware

    Dell Poweredge T620

    ESXi is installed on 2 x 146 GB 15 K SAS drives RAID-1

Guest operating system is Server2012r2 on all virtual machines

Installed it on ESXi 3 previous were conducted with custom ESXi 5.5 Dell without problem.

Any version of the ESXi I use I can't have a virtual machine to begin with more than 1 CPU socket added to it. The virtual machine does not start even the VMWare BIOS. I tried the Bios EFI as well with no luck. The error message I get in the events is ' fatal error VMware ESX: vcpu (vcpu-X)-X:VM - entry failed; Valid VMCS (error code 8). The vcpu-X is always another. I have attached the log file is created. If I give the VM 1 single processor TI starts very well. I'm at a loss as to what could be the issue.

Problem is solved. I caught another server with identical hardware, verified it worked properly, then started to swap parts between them. Turned out to be CPU1. Once this has been replaced from a working server I have not had any problems. Warranty has been appealed.

  • Slow Server 2008 performance when you use more than 1 CPU - bug?

    Hello

It seems that when I run Server 2008 on one of my boxes 3 10.5.7 if I use more than 1 CPU in the settings, the ankles of machine the CPU while booting and then during the use of the operating system.  Normally, I have to run all 3 of them at the same time... and if I get all 3 virtual machines running, the CPU remains just pegged and slows down the machine.

Then, if I close everything and change the settings to 1 CPU, virtual machines work fine, the CPU barely sees any activity and 75% of the 8 GB is used and it can run for weeks at a time without any problem.

    My 3 VMs

    2 Server 2008 x 86 File Server/Anti-anti-virus/utilities/Quickbooks, etc. 1 GB, 1CPU

Yes, I have the tools are installed and uses the latest patches, software, etc.

    Thanks for any help...

VCPU more inside a virtual machine using could be a big problem, if you don't have much physical basis.

If you set vCPU # = # pCore, then you will have several performance issue, cause you VM hangs (during its run) ALL of your hearts.

  • Configuration of 10g to use more than 1 CPU

    Hello experts,

I have server Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition running on a Windows Server 2003 - Enterprise 64-bit.

    * The server has 4 Xeon processors *.

We have a performance tool that we alert to an enrichment of the CPU.

It seems that Oracle uses only a SINGLE processor.

Is this normal in a 4-processor server?

Can I make a configuration change to allow Oracle to use more than 1 CPU a CPU?

    Thank you very much. John

You have several active sessions simultaneously (i.e. normal operation OLTP) relatively fast SQL statements running? Or if you use with a handful of active sessions that each runs relatively long SQL statements (i.e. normal DSS / operations data warehouse)?

Unless you explicitly prevented Oracle to use several processors, it will use Fortunately each processor on the server. But if you have only one session active at a time and that the session is not running of the parallel operations, you would only end up using one of the available processors.

  • Why 'properties' for data C:\users...app... windows show more than 8,000 fles but explores him record shows a few tens of individuals?

The properties of \application data\local\microsoft\windows C:\uers\ (me) includes 48 folders and files 4384. Explore this folder presents the 4 files that are aggregated in 10 cases. Where are the other 4380 files? Folder options are set to display hidden folders.

You really don't want to go play with the system folders, but there is another option when you enable hidden folders appear, to display hidden system files. Even try to show them will give you a warning, it is not a very good idea, so just, 4384 files and 48 folders are hidden because you should not be in contact with them, so do not touch them :)

  • Opening of more than 15 files with Windows Explorer does not work.

Under XP, I used to be able to open several files in Notepad, at the same time. Now with Windows 7, I am limited to 15. Is there a way to make Windows 7 behave like XP in this regard?

  • Explorer.exe FINTRAC CPU, does not properly

The "Explorer.exe" process takes about 50% of the capacity of the CPU of my computer, such as measured by the Task Manager. Looking at the Services associated with it, not those running seem dubious, as if Explorer had contracted a virus. There are also some problems with the functioning of systems based on explorer.exe, but they can at least be circumvented if necessary.

In the last day or two, all starting the computer produces a taskbar that would not - move the cursor over them produced the hourglass icon "busy, do not disturb", elements of the bac as the clock in the bottom right is stuck as they were at the start, and without tab appeared when programs or files have been opened. Who is today bypassed by stopping and restarting explorer.exe, but I've yet to see if the problem reappears when the computer restarts. At least if that's the case, I now know how to wake up immediately.

The start menu (after the above workaround solution) works for access to the standard folder options aside the user right, Documents, music, etc., but the white area on the left side does not show the usual program shortcuts. The display option "All programs" work as usual, but by selecting one of these "Pin to Start Menu" produces no visible result. Already pinned to start programs still think they are (make a right click gives you the option to 'Remove the Start Menu'), but the Start Menu is in disagreement.

I doubt that the hardware specs are important, since this seems to be a software problem, but here they are anyway: an Acer laptop Extensa 5510, running Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit, with 1 GB of RAM and more than 100 GB of hard drive formatted as two 'readers' of Vista (including approximately 34 or 45 GB of 'C' and had "respectively are used). (If anyone knows how to get the HD to format a drive I would like to know, but this isn't a serious question).

A quicker way to get more information maybe be use Process Explorer from Sysinternals to check the stack of the thread using the most CPU in the explorer.exe process, when you experience the behavior.  When Explorer uses the CPU as you have indicated, double-click the process in Process Explorer and go to the tab of the Threads.  Sort the list of threads by Cycles Delta (descending) and note the thread at the top. Double-click it and discovered its stack. Look for third-party modules (extensions of shell or modules, AV software, etc.) in the stack.  Disable (Autoruns or ShellExView, maybe) / uninstall these components, reboot and see if the behavior is affected.

  • Install more than one exe to a folder or in subfolders of the same folder

    Hello!
I want to do at least one of the following conditions:

    1. I want to install several exes (built with LV app builder) in a directory because they go hand in hand.
    2. make several subfolders under the same top-level folder EAT install exe in each of them.

(Upper level) should be the folder of "society". The subfolders are for applications.
    For example:
    c:\company\app1\app1.exe
    c:\company\app1\app1setup.exe
    c:\company\app2\app2.exe
    etc.
This can also be in the folder "program files".

If I try to do, I have a few problems of implementation of the construction specifications. If I have more than one generation standard for the exe I can't add in the same folder. At least if they contain the same external files, such as DLLs.
If I try to do by exe installer, I get an error message telling me that the same folder (my "upper tier") already exist in the registry and cannot be added again. This is also true if I try to do a new project instead of having to install several specifications in a project to build.

I use Labview 2009 (engl.) Windows Vista (in German).

If someone has a help for me or similar encounters problems please let me know.

    Holger

    Ok

for the records: I found out what was the problem (and the solution).

Both my needed apps the same external DLL. While this should be no problem it caused the new Builder installer/app and me the headaches. The new app Builder seems to build its internal paths in the registry. If you select more than one target of generation 'exe', he gets into trouble if more than one using a subdirectory 'data' with the same DLL and each subdirectory using the name of 'data' of sugested.

The solution is simple: just give each target generation "exe" a subdirectory 'data' different like data1, data2 etc. and the problems disappear.

  • Explorer.exe using 50% CPU

My Vista has suddenly become almost unusable.  Task Manager shows explorer.exe uses 50% of the CPU.  I rebooted a couple of times.  If I use the Task Manager to kill him I can run programs using the application tab.  The computer works well without exploring. But then I don't have a task bar so I hope it's temporary.  I ran the windows malicioussoftwqare removeal tool - who found nothing.  The program is c:\windows\explorer.exe.

    Does anyone know the solution?

Many times when someone experiences this problem, it may be due to add-ons explore or shell extensions. Consider using Sysinternals Autoruns or ShellExView. Disable Add-ons and non Microsoft shell extensions and verify the behavior.  If he went, reactivate the disabled extensions/add-ons, one at a time and see if you can identify who may be liable.

Try a clean boot, or boot into safe mode.  The behavior persists?

You can use Process Explorer from Sysinternals to check the stack of the thread using the most CPU in the explorer.exe process, when you experience the behavior.
