File $NtUninstall in the folder Windows on Windows XP

Original title: Questions after installing windows explorer 8 with the XP operating system

My computer has XP windors as operating system.  I downloaded IE 8 a week ago.  Works pretty well, but I was looking around

in my file of windows and I noticed a large number of files to uninstall.  At least 50 files or more.  These part of the internet explorer 8?  The folders are named $NtUninstallKB9 and more digits following that.  All records are with the police in blue color just internet explorer 8 is now.  This part of the program and why so much of?

Thank you

Cheryl H.

Hello

The folder $NtUninstallKB9 and similar files you are talking about are the Windows Update files.

They are installed when you install an update to the computer.

You can ignore these files because they have no effect on the safety or performance of the computer.

These uninstaller folders will help to uninstall updates.

  • Is it possible to recover files deleted from your Recycle Bin, after the failure of the computer after the backup hard drive contained in the folder windows.old, including system files?

Very well. My computer is messed up awhile back and my friend saved my whole hard drive, the files system and everything, then wiped and restored, then ALL put in a folder called "windows.old" that I can access my hard drive. So since he has saved the files system and everything, I'll be able to recover my old files I had deleted before it was erased, if (hopefully) they is not replaced? If so, what filepath can I go in?

    Hi thatonehxckid,

The content in the trash is not saved in the folder windows.old during a custom installation.

Oh sorry, you will need to obtain from another computer Windows Vista or your install disc (if you have one, these instructions are here).  I have just the zip and give you a complete file of fonts, but it's against the license (and technically to the United States law) for them to be distributed.

You can simply DELETE THE WINDOWS. O file if your computer is running norml:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933212
This will give you more space.

If your computer does not correctly him follow these steps:

The single was is to back up all you produce, programs, data, but does not back up the WINDOWS. O file. You can delete the folder before making the back-up. Back to the top of your files before you begin reinstalling Windows, even if you're reinstalling Windows on a hard disk partition. A clean installation replaces the current version of Windows and all personal files

  • Reduce the size of the folder Windows/install in Windows 7

I found many messages touting the benefits of a utility that MS formerly offered to reduce the size of the folder Windows/Installer for earlier versions of Windows called MSIZAP.exe.  Of course, this is not recommended and has been replaced by a FixIt.

My main drive has grown to use 60 GB!  I install most everything I am able to install it on other players.  On the 60 GB, the Windows folder using 23.6 GB.
I have already reduced the Windows/winsxs folder to 10.6 GB 6.1 GB with the MARIKEL utility.
How am I able to reduce the folder Windows/Installer of her current 7.33 GB size?  This file consumes almost 1/3 of the already massive amount of the Windows folder?
    Thanks in advance!
    Hello

The Installer folder may be located in the folder C:\Windows\Installer. (Folder install is a hidden folder).

We can delete the files in the folder, but they will be required when you try to uninstall some programs that installed with Windows Installer. So after you delete these files, we will need to reinstall or repair a related program if they cannot be uninstalled with error "needs to uninstall previous installation".

However, instead of delete the folder of Windows install, I should delete you them using Disk Cleanup.

In addition, reducing the space for the restoration of the system.

WARNING: If you reduce the disk space to be smaller than the space that is currently used by the system of protection, older restore points, including previous versions of files, will be deleted.

  • adding new files or remove the old Windows Media Player files. (Vista)

Since June 2010, I was not able to add new files or remove the old Windows Media Player files.  I can click on a new file and play using WMP or add to a playlist that is currently playing, but it does not recognize that it was added after as I close the program and re-open it.  Or I can delete the files that no longer exist on my computer but WMP always has them as my files.  When I click on add new media, it recognizes the right amount of files I would be adding, says to add them and then nothing is there.

Your media library has probably been corrupted. To reset, follow the instructions for WMP 11 Vista at http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary . Note the reset of the library will make you lose all the counts to play and possibly ratings too. Tim Baets

  • Gateway DX4300 - how to restore the drivers to the folder window.old.

Hi, I just reformatted my PC. lost all my drivers and ask you how to restore the drivers to the folder window.old. My PC is a gateway dx4300 built in maps Ethernet and video. Unfortunately the gateway doesn't have these drivers.__Thanks.

Oh, how it would help if truly comprehensive published Gateway of material form for a machine... :(

I only am not surprised you found the driver for the modem didn't work - the only one I found was a Vista driver in proportion; Server 2 k 8 x 64 probably don't like that too much.  ;)
But, a little research on Google (and, looking at the list of Vista drivers for this machine) does not give something useful: your card network (the thing you need more) seems to be a Marvell Yukon 88E8075 (possibly 88E8071) Gigabit NIC.  These drivers are available directly from Marvell: http://www.marvell.com/support.html
Just select "88E8075" in the menu dropdown part number, then take the package Windows Server 2008 SP2 (x 64).  Install it, get the machine online, run Windows Update.  I am betting that WU will be able, at a minimum, give you work pilots 'real' (rather than the generic or non-existent drivers you have) so that you can sort.
Honestly, I'm surprised that there is no drivers for this NETWORK adapter - it's a fairly common piece.

  • How to open .zip files in windows media player? I get the msg file type not supported. MP3 files are in the folder.

When I tried to play on windows media player I get error msg-file type is not supported or the codec is not compatible with the player. They are .zip files. inside are the mp3 files that I need to listen to. can someone help me.

    Hello

You need to open ZIP files, which are compressed to make it smaller, then use the content
in the application appropriate - so if the audio or video content can use WMP.

Compress and uncompress files (zip files)
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/compress-and-uncompress-files-ZIP-files

Although Windows has integrated ZIP, you might be more comfortable using a program
with more features (and works with different types of compressed files).

  • The files show in the folder AND subfolder in Windows Explorer library

QUESTION: How can I configure this library so that are not files in subfolders in the folder next-level-up?

I created a library to a folder in one of our (security) Server readers.  There are several levels of subfolders in the folder 'security '.  It looks like this:

In any case, I store older versions of ESP in folder under the 'history of ESP.  The problem is that they also show in the folder next-level-up ("ESP").  I thought they were duplicate files, and when I removed them from the folder of the "ESP", they have been removed from the folder under the 'history of ESP.  To make things worse, they don't go in the trash, but it disappeared completely.

Libraries are the aggregation of search systems - it is intended to launch a search and returns the results of what it finds from this location and all the children locations.

What you want to do, you probably don't want to use a library.

  • Everything in the folder Windows disappeared

I am running WinXP SP3.  I went into my Windows folder (wanted to empty the Windows\Temp folder), but no file or folder appear.  If I go into folder options and choose to view the hidden files and folders, all I get are the $NtUninstallKB... files.  I also checked to see if it has been set to display the contents of system folders and it is.  The funny this is if I go to the Windows directory and press Ctrl + A, it says there are things selected (says there are 27 hidden files and folders...) but no icons show up on the screen.  I can see the content of the files if I type "C:\Windows\Temp", but obviously impossible to navigate through Windows Explorer, because I can't see the icons in the Windows folder.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

After the announcement, I started getting corrupt file errors.  I had to reinstall the operating system and it was better.

  • What happens if I delete the folder "windows.old"?

I upgraded my windows Vista. Now on the local drive, I can see a "windows.old" folder that does not use a lot of space. What happens if I delete this file?

    Hi Alexandre Reddy.

The files that were used in your previous version windows are stored in the theWindows.old folder. Remove the Windows.old folder will not cause any problem you have taken a backup of the previous files as well as all the important files.

See the article mentioned below and follow the steps to remove the folder.

  • How can I find several duplicate files and remove the using Windows Explorer

Somehow I see several duplicate on my computer files.  I can tell when they arrived as all the duplicate files ' _10-Mar-15_1. ' " However, I don't know how they arrived.  I think that Google Drive was the culprit, but I can't be sure.

How we (me) use Windows Explorer to find all files with "_10-Mar-15_1." and delete them all?

    I am using Windows 7 64 bit

    Thank you!!!

Windows Explorer can do no such thing. To remove recursively a certain file is easy - see below. To identify duplicates and remove some of them is much more difficult, because:

    • Are two files duplicates because
      -They have the same name?
      -They are the same size?
-They have the same file date?
      -They have the same content?
      -Everything above?
    • When they are, which ones should be deleted?
      -The oldest?
      -The most recent?
      -The batch?

Here's how to remove a certain file to recursively. Assume that they are in the folder "C:\Users\BHunter\Documents".

    1. Click the start planet.
    2. Type cmd. exe and press ENTER.
    3. Enter the following command and press ENTER:
      dir/s/b/p 'C:\Users\BHunter\Documents\_10-Mar-15_1 '.
This will show you all the files whose name above.
    4. del /s /q "C:\Users\BHunter\Documents\_10-Mar-15_1."
This will permanently delete all files with the name above. You cannot restore them.
