File sharing with my Xbox 360

I have an Xbox 360 (the older white kind) that I used to share media files to my network wireless for my laptop.  Recently it has stopped working.  I replaced my old Linksys G Router for a new Netgear N300.  I have set my network sharing settings in the same way that I already had, and it has stopped working.  I still gave in and just hooked up the old linksys router, but now it wont even work with it.   My pc can see my xbox 360 but my 360 does not detect my pc. I have my 360 hard wired to the router and then I could always just see my laptop wireless at that time here.  Help, please!  I am running windows vista 64' put his point most recent up-to-date.

Give the Xbox a ip address and add its IP address in the DMZ on the router option. If its got a. That's what I had to do, to save me to add ports to the router. Given that (the router, I got, Dlinks info on the site was wrong, it didn't work anyway lol).

Saved me a lot of time. Don't forget to configure the center of media on the Xbox and enter the digit 8 in so it will work (if you want to use Media center as well)

However, when I go through the steps, IE open Windows Media Player > library > media sharing, there is not all the icons to select share with. I can click the file sharing box, and then click OK. • Wireless network properties, sharing tab appears not-trying to share my connection with my Xbox 360

I'm trying to follow a few guilds to help me get my xbox 360 connected to xbox live via my pc, I prefer to do it this way, it's because I don't have enough money to pay for xbox live and get the accessory wireless, also I do not have enough long Ethernet cable.

All guilds tell me that I need to click with the right button on the WiFi settings and click on properties in the network connections, I'm here to see sharing as a TAB

But all I see is the networking.

How can I activate the sharing tab? or why he isn't here.

Edited: The properties of the wired connection has it, but not a wireless.

  • Can share files with the XBox 360 to Windows 7, but unable to connect to Windows Media Center

I reinstalled my system of exploitation of 64-bit Windows 7 to Windows 7 32 bit and reinstalled the documents to the user and the location of the program on a separate hard drive data. I was able to add both my XBox 360 on Windows Media Center Extender at least 15 times before that, but it's the only time wherever I reinstalled with 32-bit and moving the location of the documents to another drive (even if I still have them settle there but just by changing the location under properties after the operating system is installed).

When I try to add the Xbox 360 as an Extender, it goes up to like making up the 'contact' on the Xbox loading screen, but then the Media Center on the PC says something in the sense of "Windows Media Center has encountered an error... »

  • WMP11 & sharing media w / Xbox 360 - does not display settings ' share my media to.

Recently, I tried to connect my Xbox 360 to my laptop PC running Windows XP SP3. All the official how - in fact seem as easy as going to WMP 11, then the 360 was on and connected to the network and will 'Media Sharing' and check the box, "share my media". However, while they were inspecting the area, nothing happens, no detail windows open upwards. All are two buttons, OK and CANCEL. I click OK, all gray outside for a while as the settings are applied, then it returns to the same window sharing media files, no new options, no new parameters. Like nothing happened.

    And indeed, nothing has changed.

    Gentlemen, what do I do?

    AGVKrioni,

Sorry to hear about your difficulties.  No fun!  If the Xbox 360 don't watch not appear inside WMP 11 as a shared device, then it is possible that WMP 11 does not see the Xbox.

    1. the xbox is completely up to date via xbox live?

    2. it can also be caused when the Xbox and computer are actually on 2 different networks (despite being connected in the same building).  Connect the computer or Xbox Wireless?  To check that they are in fact on the same network, obtain the IP address of your Xbox.
-Go to system settings network settings.  Note the IP address.
-Go to your computer.  See if you can test your XBOX (see on the network).  Open the prompt (start, run, "cmd").  Type "ping ipaddresshere ".  Do you have an answer?

    3. check that you have all the latest Windows updates (there may be other updates/patches for network management issues)

4 turn off your Windows Firewall

I hope that these 4 ideas help or someone much more intelligent that I add ideas, because there is nothing else I can offer.  I hope that helps!  Good luck.

  • What I need to download in order to play games on my PC with my Xbox 360 controller? It says I need a system with XP SP1 or SP2, but I have Windows 7. Any thoughts?

    • I already downloaded the patch for xbox 360 controller.
    • Windows 7 is installed, but the error message that appears indicates that I need XP SP1 or SP2.

    Hi SevOmega,

Welcome to Microsoft 7 answers Forum!

The patch you downloaded can support only Windows XP (SP1 or SP2) which is not compatible to your computer since your computer is installed with Win7.

I suggest that you visit the same Web site where you downloaded the patch and download the patch that is suitable for Win7 and check.

  • Someone there suggested sites I can download PC games that are compatible with an Xbox 360 controller.

I want to try the game on my PC and or laptop before buy you not on my Xbox 360. I'm having a very hard time finding anything. I know that I can try the game on my Xbox for free, but I don't know if the game works with the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless controller, on both the Xbox and my PC.

It has nothing to with such sites to download, and for several years (since the beginning of "Games for Windows") the XBOX controller has (unfortunately for some use that do not use the XBOX controller) the configuration of the default controller for the most part, or at least, many games.

    A quick search shows-
Why the XBOX controller is not compatible with some games (pre monopoly$ oft games for windows for the most part).
    http://www.giantbomb.com/Xbox-360-controller-support-for-PC/92-2465/
I noticed that some XBOX controllers are advertised as being a PC version. This may be due to the version of PC with different software than the controller for XBOX
    http://www.Microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/Xbox-360-controller-for-Windows

A bit of XBOX to the propaganda of the PC-
    http://www.xboxcontrollerforpc.NET/

What really boils down to is change the key assignments to suit you via options settings for games 'control' or make a profile using the software supplied with the controller.
Controllers that have their own Win7 compatible profiling software will work with any game. It's just a matter of a few minutes to assign buttons for the commands.
Logitech controllers will work with any PC game like him having Xinput and support a direct entry (monopoly$ oft's foray into PC games made a little less friendly user with some games).

I know you probably are used to the XBOX controller and can save money.
no controller for FPS and action games, beats a mouse and a keyboard for accuracy.
Keyboards are also best for RPG and other games with many orders.
Personally, I never liked using a keyboard, so I use the command style - Logitech G13 is the
better yet. The Belkin Nostromo n52 and n52te, are good for. It is more comfortable to have the keys online, and the control stick on the G13 works well also.

If you are looking for simple plug-and-play gaming console is the best option of game. PC offers more versatility for those who don't mind tweaking.

  • Sansa Fuze does not work with the Xbox 360?

I know that the console is capable of playing a MP3 player through it, I could do my job as Creative Zen. I don't understan why it does not work with the "rocket", the interface looks more simple on the surface of things. And I'm sure it doesn't because I don't have a HARD drive for my Xbox, it was working fine before.

The reson I am, I wanted to know because I wanted to know the other ways of playing my rocket while listening. the kool on my expirimentation thing is I found that the Xbox will charge my rocket when it is off and I can listen at the same time. I also found that my Playstaion 2 will work also in this copacity all-in-on.

Basically the Auto setting works well with the XBox.  Select settings > USBMode > MTP or MSC.

With PSG, you can even play content protected by DRM rockets (IE Rhapsody) on Xbox.
