files and lost dfirectories

I got in trouble for awhile, especially intermittent very slow.

Now, I've lost a whole directory tree and all the files inside. I got a program FCAD DCF directory off the coast of the root. All my drawing files were in subdirectories off FCAD. Now, FCAD executable file has been moved to the directory CLICK off of the root. The Office FCAD icon has been changed so that it points to the directory of CLICK. By clicking on the icon FCAD desktop FCAD program runs correctly, but all THE drawing files have disappeared.

This program was running then it happened. I've been modifing a drawing. When I went to save the drawing updated, the directory because he had disappeared and all subdirectories FCAD. I have a save as and save this file, but everything else has gone, including all the designs I have made or updated since my last backup. It's more embarrassing, because I don't keep an independent record of changes, so it is difficult to remember what changes have been made since my last backup. There are a dozen of hundreds of files and subdirectories. All files have a. FC7 extension.

This seems completely bizarre, but it happened. Move the executable file in a different directory AND change the desktop icon seem impossible, but it happened. I use this program every day and have reviewed and updated some files today.

I guess that these files are still there. Is there a way to go through the reader and the search for lost files and directories links so I can access these files or something else I can try?

  • I lost all the photos, files and programs, can someone help me please?

I did a system restore (I think) and lost all the photos, files and programs.  Can someone tell me please how do I get back them?

Looks like your user profile has been corrupted in some way and XP connected to a new profile.  This means that when you connect, you see one of your stuff and can be also lack all the other programs you may have installed previously.

Note that the system restore do not know or care about the personal files on your system.

Unless there's a disaster or instead of a system restore you done a system recovery files would be still on your system somewhere - you just find them... and when you find them, you can correct what happened.  If you have made a recovery of the system instead of a system restore, then all is lost and you need to recover from a backup.

Have you performed a search of Windows to see if you can find some of these photos and files?    For example, you could search for something like "Resume.doc" or a file name that you remember exactly to see if it is anywhere on your system and where it is.

Why don't you get in Windows Explorer and (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive), navigate to this folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings

Below, you will see that each user on your system has their own folder for their personal belongings.  You will see also some folders listed user that you do not recognize, but that's normal.

Under the folder of each user, there is another folder, as "Documents of Jose" and under this 'Jose music' and «De Jose Pictures»  Dig a little and check them all to see if you can find your missing stuff.

Just take a look in the Control Panel, add/remove programs to see if "missing" programs are still installed, but all not available when you are logged in (you don't have to 'do' something - just look at).

Assuming that you can find your missing stuff, determine where we (which will make feel you better knowing that it is not really gone), then report back and someone can help you straighten things.

The answer is that all of your files, folders, and programs should remain in their normal form. However, backup your personal files is always a good idea.

  • recover files and folders lost

I have windows XP Home Edition and I caught a virus and could not open all programs including restoration. I had to reinstall XP but I lost everthing I got over it, incluing pictures and other documents that I needed. Is it possible to recover these files and folders?

When you reinstalled, a different account name has been used?

If so, some of your previous things may be recoverable without resorting to third-party software.

Check "C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur", where username is the name of the previous account.

Down there, you will find folders such as office, favorite etc.. In them, you'll find previous data.

Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\NEWUSERNAME', where NOUVEAUNOMUTILISATEUR is the name of current account. Move/copy data in the records corresponding to those at the top.

NOTE: do not move/copy anything in the 'WINDOWS' folder or ntuser.

Depending on your situation and the environment, you may need to take ownership of the files.

    Hello

    Log in as ADMIN

Your photos and other files should still be there under C:\Users\Your user Name\

Sounds like your account became corrupted or affected by malware?

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. The ADMIN account in trunk
Mode has no default password (unless someone has changed the password so it should be available).

Use the Admin account hidden to lower your user account APPLY / OK then wear again to
ADMIN. This allows clear of corruption. Do the same for other accounts if necessary after the
    above message.

You can use the hidden - administrator account to make another account as an ADMINISTRATOR with your same
password (or two with the same password) use a test or difficulty to another.

You can run the command Admin account hidden from the prompt here if
    necessary.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    See you soon.
