Filter certain virtual machines of notification of UNIFIED messaging?

We have usage screen v3.3.3. By default, it reports on all the virtual machines managed by the vCenter on which it is installed. I want to filter according to the report, the following types of virtual machines:

-Models

-Turning off VMs

-To test virtual machines

To facilitate this, I moved all the virtual machines that match in one of the above categories in a folder called "non-production". But after reading the user's guide, I don't see how to exclude this folder from notification of UNIFIED Messaging.

Is this possible? Furthermore, if this method is not possible, is there another method by which I can achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

So let's see how we can go about this...

First of all, virtual computers that are turned off and models (always off) are not being measured in the unit of vCLUM if you do not have to worry about them.

Regarding testing of virtual machines, what business reason do you exclude those of vCLUM reports? Basically, as long you have licensed vCAN applied to an ESXi host and each virtual machine running on the host of such should be dosed in vCLUM and reported on.

If you have a test environment, you need to be perpetual or demo licenses applied to the ESXi hosts supporting the test environment. Then you can go into your web portal of vCLUM at the location indicated below (categories of licenses/billing) and change the category of billing for license key demo / perpetual listed accordingly. With this method, you will be able to prevent the virtual machines, you want to be included in your monthly usage reports.

I hope this helps!

  • Way to hide certain virtual machines on a common host networks?

    I hope it's one of those moments "duh" and there is an easy solution.

    Let says I have two clusters.  One of the piles is a lab with a copy of Active Directory environment used for testing purposes.  This cluster is now in a cycle of life, and I want to merge with the production cluster and remove former hosts of ESXi lab.  We add laboratory for the cluster of production networks and all is well for the laboratory of virtual machines that are not migrated on him.

    However, we do not want someone to accidentally assign a production VM to a network of laboratories and vice versa.  So when you go into edit a virtual machine, and then select the NETWORK card, there is a drop-down list that displays all the networks, including new laboratory that were just added networks.  I want to hide the network of laboratories of our production domain controllers and hide our production networks where the laboratory domain controllers.  But because they are all on the same cluster, it seems to me that all subnets are fair game for select in the drop-down list.  Or am I wrong?  Is there a way to lock the network to only certain virtual machines so that they do not show up for other virtual machines to choose?

    Thank you and sorry if there is an obvious solution to what I am about.

    SB

    Hey SB,.

    Not sure if this is possible, to be honest, as a virtual machine are all port groups, that it has the right. Now that I think of it, maybe create two different groups of seggregating production and test/lab put in place might work because you would not be able to connect to a virtual computer on a cluster to a portgroup on a host.

    Names must be different, but otherwise you could see similar across clusters names if the port groups may be two different entities altogether. Other than that, can't really invent any scenerios in which a portgroup wouldn't appear on a virtual machine if it is present on a host

  • Exclude certain virtual machines of rules.

    Hello

    I would like to exclude some machines virtual (QA, development), of the rules that come with the cartridge of VMware... The rules are:

    1 VMW Virtual Machine CPU Utilization

    2. use of virtual MEMORY Machine VMW

    3. time fill VMW Machine virtual Logial Drive estimated

    4. logical drive using Virtual Machine VMW

    For number 1, I modified the scope of this rule´s: VMWVirtualMachineHostCPUs

    to do this:

    VMWVirtualMachineHostCPUs where name does not match' [D | d | e |] E | s | S | a | [A]. *' and the name does not match "[q |]" a | Q | A].*'

    For the number two is very similar and works well.

    However for numbers 3 and 4 I am because the virtual machine is not in the type of topology properties.

    So my question is: can I attach topologies in the scope? "I mean, something like (this is just an example) VMVirtualMachine where name does not match ' [D | d | e |] E | s | S | a | [A]. *' and the name does not match "[q |]" a | Q | [A]. *' and VMWVirtualMachineLogicalDisk

    Thanks for any help.

    Michael.

    All these objects that are in the scope of these rules have virtualMachine as a property.

    You could do something like:

    VMWVirtualMachineLogicalDisk where virtualMachine.name does not match' [D | d | e |] E | s | S | a | A].*'

  • How to set up the generic dashboard for the specified virtual machines

    I have two question about "generic dashboard":

    1. I use the tag to classify certain virtual machines by role QA, DEV or PRD. If I select "Kind of resources", and then select all VM under a label, window "metrics selector" will be watch only "vCenter generated Operation Manager", it does not show metric VM. How can I see it?

    2. If I select the 'Resources' mode, then I'll be able to see the VM metrics on the window "metrics selector", but I must key in each VM name "Label to the area", it takes a lot of time if I have a lot of VM, is there no matter what symbol I can use to match this field with name column "resource"?

    Mode 'Resources like' or 'Resource', both ok for me, I want to just install a widget to display using the specified CPU VM real fast.

    Any information is appreciated!

    You will see that vC generated Ops metric because you are looking at the tag, which is a resourcekind. This switch of resources is "not" a filter label, these are the actual resources. If you want to see all the virtual machines, select the resourcekind 'virtual machine '.

    Generic dashboard is rarely used to show - all - kinds of resources, it is generally used for static selection for specific purposes. If you want to display all types of a resource type and apply a tag filter, you can select a different widget to display this information.

    There is no symbols that can act as wildcards, as you suggest. When you are 'kind of resources' mode, you need not fill out a label for the box.

  • Protection group virtual machines do not have consistent snapshop point in time using vSphere replication

    As the title, we feel when capturing instant timestamp for virtual machines in a protection group.

    Which means a group of database servers, applications, and others, when drill us test to start the virtual machines in the recovering site files timestamp in the virtual machines are varied.

    Snapshot work is executed simultaneously for all virtual machines in the group when planning replication hit? Or is it because certain virtual machines (like DB) speak more time to complete the snapshot so than others like apps VM completed early?

    Anyone hit this problem? We use vSphere replication instead of array based replication.

    Thanks /.

    Dylan

    Hello

    It is a behavior expected with current versions of vSphere replication - replication source host Scheduler is not aware of any grouping of virtual machines and starts the replica instance to meet the RPO requirements. The decision when to start a new instance is based on the time of loading and transfer to some of the previous instances.

    Multi-vm coherence is on the roadmap for a future release and will describe what exactly you address issues.

    If you use VR 5.5, you may use multiple points depending on the time (JEREMIAH) and after switching some of the old machines instances (represented by VM snapshots) to match the State of the other machines.

  • Stop virtual machines with or without VMware tools installed

    So after a power failure major where I work has taken place where the batteries of the UPS only ran about 10 minutes and the emergency generator didn't kick in, I was put in charge of writing a script that starts to stop the virtual machines and servers in a given cluster. Now that I am relatively new to the environment here, so I don't know if all the virtual machines have the tools are installed. I want to cover all bases and the virtual machines that do not have the tools installed. My script done now is it initiates closing the comments on all the virtual machines and check every 10 seconds to 120 seconds for virtual machines go offline if after 120 seconds, there are even virtual machines online, it issues a shutdown command on all servers that have not stopped. Now, he'll catch all the virtual machines, but I don't want the machine have to wait 2 minutes before totality if it can be avoided (remember that this script will be executed when the data center goes to the power of the UPS for every watt account to keep critical systems online). the script throws an error when it cannot stop because no tool is installed, so I thought I could use a try/catch block to catch the error and send just a detroit of turning control of these VMs off. I tried to do, but without success.

    Is it possible that I can either catch the error, or a stop all virtual machines that do not have the tools installed?

    Attached is my code, maybe you can spot what can I do to stop the virtual machines without tools within the do / while loop when errors occur first.

    Add-PSSnapin VMware.VimAutomation.Core
    $server = $args [0]
    $cluster = $args [1]
    SE connect-VIServer-Server $server
    $counter = 0
    {}
    If (Get-Cluster-name $cluster | get - vm | where {$_.powerstate - eq 'receiving'}) {}
    If ($counter - eq 0) {}
    Get-Cluster-name $cluster | get - vm | where {$_.powerstate - eq "receptor"} | stop-VMGuest-confirm: $false
    }
    Write-Host "VMs are on waiting" (120-$counter)"seconds"
    $counter = $counter + 10
    Sleep 10
    }
    }
    While ($counter - 110)-or ((Get-VMHost |)) Get - VM | where {$_.powerstate - eq "receptor"}) .count)-No 0
    If ($counter = 120) {}
    Write-Host "certain virtual machines did not not stop properly, tension now.
    Get-Cluster-name $cluster | get - vm | where {$_.powerstate - eq "receptor"} | Stop-VM-confirm: $false
    }
    Write-Host "Putting servers into maintenance mode."
    Get-cluster-name $cluster | Get-vmhost | where {$_.state - eq 'connected'} | Game-VMHost-State "Maintenance".
    Sleep 10
    Write-Host "stop servers."
    Get-cluster-name $cluster | Get-vmhost | where {$_.state - eq 'Maintenance'} | Stop-VMHost-confirm: $false
    Disconnect-VIServer-confirm: $false

    Try something like this

    $vm = Get-VM
    $vm | where {$_.Guest.State -eq "Running"} | Shutdown-VMGuest -Confirm:$false $vm | where {$_.Guest.State -eq "NotRunning"} | Stop-VM -Confirm:$false

    Virtual machines running VMware tools will get a judgment of comments, while the virtual machines that do not have the VMware tools running, will get a poweroff.

  • Cannot run the application: Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class not registered

    I want to launch the TI Flash Studio program on my computer windows 7, but the above error when I try to open the program, when I download the suggested 'Virtual Machine' I get another error message that says that the 'Virtual Machine' is not compatible with windows 7, how can I solve this problem?

    Hello hallaman3,

    I did not find TI Studio listed in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center. I suggest that you contact TI to see if they have an updated version.
    I found a new version of TI connect to be compatible with Windows 7. Not sure if you need it for TI Studio.

    You can also try compatibility mode.

    If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

    Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

    If compatibility is not successful, then try and run the program compatibility problems:

    1. open the troubleshooting program compatibility Troubleshooter by clicking the Start button.

    Then click on Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooting, and then click Troubleshooting. Under programs, click on run programs for previous versions of Windows.

    2. follow the instructions in the troubleshooting.

    If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the Troubleshoot utility, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. This utility is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

    I hope this helps.

  • Internal error starting the Virtual Machine after Crash

    I'm in Yosemite and when running a virtual Windows 7 machine it suddenly stopped working. The beach ball slider off for half an hour and I was force quit Fusion 7. While trying to launch the virtual machine again, I get a message "Internal error" generic.

    Already tried: restart my Mac, repair permissions, uninstall/reinstall Fusion 7, even try to fix the main VMDK file (it is divided and returned without error).

    Any suggestions?

    Looks like you run your virtual machines from a disk formatted in NTFS by using the Paragon NTFS driver.  Have you tried to use disk utility to check the integrity of the NTFS partition?  Error messages suggest strongly that the NTFS file system may be corrupted or there may be a problem with the NTFS driver.  (I think that the NTFS driver is not available when you used the recovery environment to check disks).

    If this volume extracted also OK through the disk utility first aid option, you pourriez either requires an upgrade of your driver of Paragon NTFS since version 11 to version 12 (which their Web site claims is the first version with support of Yosemite), or you may need to set the drive on a Windows machine and have windows to control its own native on the volume file system in Paragon file system audit case missing something.

    See you soon,.

  • To replicate virtual machine configuration error

    I'm starting with replication.  I built the device and set up the latter.  I have confirmed that it is accessible on the network.  When I run through the wizard to set up replication on a virtual machine, it fails with this message:

    The operation "Starts the configuration of replication for < servername >" failed for the entity with the following error message.

    ManagedObjectReference: type = HmsServiceInstance, value = instance-service, serverGuid = xxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxxxx made reference to a managed object that no longer exists, or never existed.

    There's a vCenter involved and it is 5.1.0 1473060.  The unit of replication is 5.1.2.0, 1527968.  All ESXi hosts run 5.1.0 1483097.  My first 2 attempts were to replicate a virtual machine on one host to another in a different data center and located in different physical subnets.  I then tried to replicate a virtual machine to the same host, but in a different data store (local disks are used on this host) and got the same failure.

    Anyone have any idea what could be causing the failure?  I collected logs on the device, but I don't know what to look for.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

    Can you please take a look at /opt/vmware/hms/logs/hms.log and search NoPermission?

    If this is the case, can ensure that the VRM privileges are assigned to the user you connect with or just try logging vCenter administrator?

    We have already seen instances when this error message has been reported in the user interface and hms.log showed:

    Failure of the authorization for the method 'HmsRemoteSiteManager.getHmsServers '.

    com.vmware.vim.binding.vim.fault.NoPermission:

    object = com.vmware.jvsl.util.MoRef@5345b927,

    privilegeId = HmsRemote.com.vmware.vcHms.Hms.View

    inherited from com.vmware.vim.binding.vmodl.fault.SecurityError:

    inherited from com.vmware.vim.binding.vim.fault.NoPermission: no 'HmsRemote.com.vmware.vcHms.Hms.View' privileges for the user 'foobar '.

    which is actually authorization error for the privilege of seeing VRM.

  • What to do when a virtual machine goes gray?

    I have an old version of Fusion on my son's computer, mainly because he never uses Windows. I very rarely do on her computer when I can't use mine

    Is 4.1.4 and I just received a message and upgraded to the latest version of the Mavericks. When I walked into the virtual machine, he gave me the "just improved XP automatically and restarted" message and would not work the network card in one of the three parameters (it has been set by default on NAT).  Then the virtual machine started giving the error message can't go in unity Mode (I think I was in the mode of the unit at the time!)

    Then upon restart, he was told of the release of 6 and still can't connect to the internet (without connection, how he knew!)

    Then when I tried to go into network settings, the entire virtual machine crashed, which is unusual, the VM everything is gray and none of VMWare as SEND Ctrl-Alt-Delete menu items will work, all are grey.  Except the key and all keys are grayed out themselves.  Hold down the Option key modifies the menu, but almost everything is always grayed out.

    I can close this virtual machine, and it is unlikely to work again on this Macbook please?

    Yes, in a Terminal, use the following syntax:

    / Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmrun t stop vmname.vmx fusion

    Where vmname.vmx is the full qualified path of the virtual machine. VMX configuration file.  Take a look on: work with Virtual Machine packages

    Open the package of the Virtual Machine in the Finder and then drag and drop the configuration on the Terminal window .vmx file after that copy and paste the command show above up to and including the space after the judgment.

    We have severely old stand alone ESX 3.0.1 and 3.5 servers and finally acquired new equipment and a cluster in VMware vSphere Essentials and try to migrate virtual machines, so we can remove the old assets. Using Converter Standalone 5 I only abe to pass successfully the Windows 2008 SMV ESX 3.5. All Windows 2003/XP virtual machines fail with this generic message "Unable to obtain material information to the computer selected."

    I tried various solutions of workaround mentioned around forums such as change the Linux guest OS during the migration and take snapshots of the source without result. Joint are recent newspapers Converter - will try and earlier version of the converter now as I have seen mention of this being a potential solution.

    Ah, I see - redefine was useful in some cases, when the Iso Coldclone was used.
    This CD is no longer available

    Just copy the complete directories - the vmdk formats are compatible - and where the new server don't like old VMS they can usually be adjusted with small text file modifications

    I have a virtual network adapter that I linked to a physical network adapter on my box where two virtual machines are running.

    I assigned two virtual machines to this vmnet adapter.

    On one I can ping other machines of physics on the same subnet as the physical computer, but the other VM can ping only other virtual machines.

    When I try to ping from one physical computer to this virtual machine I get the error message windows "ping transmission has failed. General failure. ».

    Is what I'm trying to are not not possible?

    First thing to do is to ensure the automatic bypass is enabled disabled in the VMnet virtual network editor your use to the bridge to.

    Second need to see the output of ipconfig/all on the Windows host and guests and or ifconfig on the Linux host and or guests.

    DO NOT copy and paste the output directly in the body of the response rather redirect the output of the commands in a text file and then archive (compress) files in a single zip archive and attach it to an answer.

    You can use the following example:

    Under Windows:

    ipconfig/all > "% USERPROFILE%\Desktop\host_ipconfig.txt".

    ipconfig/all > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\guest (n) _ipconfig.txt".

    Linux:

    ifconfig > ~/Desktop/host_ipconfig.txt

    ifconfig > ~/Desktop/guest (n) _ipconfig.txt

    Also include in the archive .zip .vmx and vmware*.log for two Virtual Machines configuration files.
