  If the problem is specific to this particular update, I suggest you to refer to the article below and run the FIXIT mentioned in method 2 tool and perform the steps mentioned there. If you are not able to install some other updates as well, I suggest you to perform all the above troubleshooting methods.

  I am running XP SP3.  I now have 4 four Microsoft Update failed with error code 0 x 643.  There are:

  KB2656368

  KB2633870

  KB2604121

  KB2656405

   I have downloaded and run the Microsoft ""FIX " program with the result "an error has occurred and this program can not continue". " (No additional information)  This isn't much help!  Is there someone out there who can help you?

  I tried to call the installer with run as administrator but it does not help, please suggest me overcome this error.

  This error indicates that you have some security software (antivirus or antimalware software) that protects the part of the registry.  Can you try to temporarily disable all security software on your host computer and see if the installation can move forward?

  Thanks Steve, its been a bit of mucking around, but I finally got there. You do not need to copy the file to your desk top, you just click file, import and export as you say then click outlook / import from another program or file, find the client that you want to import from and go for it. He said that he could not import, but as soon as I cliked ok another window came up and asked if you want to import all the emails, click ok/next and everything happened.

  I suspect that there is something wrong in your registry. Hope that you have not used a registry cleaner.
