  The requirement is to a_id may rank_cd = (SL and SH) OR (SL only)
  but he shouldn't have rank_cd= HS only

• CD RW drive does not have the recording tab

  I have problems with my being considered by Windows XP as a CD-ROM drive only CD burner. The recording tab is not available on my system properties. I exchanged the drive with the other 9 that I have here that work fine on my other machines with Windows 7 and Vista, byt XP refuses to see them as anything other than ROM discs

  I tried to go in the registry at the location following and ensuring that the drive type is set to "1".

  NO CHANCE!

  Seems that happened for quite a long time. The problem that you are facing may occur due to upper and lower filters apply on optical drive Firmware. Try following the steps below and we'll see if it works!

  Click on the Start button in your desktop computer, and then click Run.

  In the Open box, type the following text:
  Regedit.exe.

  Click the OK button.

  Click on the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

  NOTE: When you click the plus (+) next to a folder, it will expand displaying the folders it contains in the left pane of the registry editor. When a file is highlighted, the contents will appear in the right pane of the registry editor.

  Click on the plus sign (+) next to SYSTEM.

  Click on the plus sign (+) next to CurrentControlSet.

  Click on the plus sign (+) next to control.

  Click on the plus sign (+) next to the class.

  Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

  On the right side of the window, click UpperFilters.

  Click on edit in the menu bar.

  Click on remove and then click OK.

  On the right side of the window, click LowerFilters.

  Click on edit in the menu bar.

  Click on remove and then click the OK button.

  Click Register and then click on exit.

  Restart the computer normally.

One last question, I don't like having the pane complete message for security reasons, but when I go into this display/page/Message pane and uncheck it on every screen, every time that I reopen it TB, it gives the message pane on.   I understand that you can not copy the files to a folder. I'm not sure where the destination is, but I would recommend that you look at the permissions for your destination file. As long as you are authorized, you should be good to go.

• Portege M700 - DVD drive fails during the recording of discs

  I tried the Disc Creator that came pre-installed and also Nero 9.2.6.0. All this on Vista 32 bit.

  The creator of disc mentions error code 380381-26-BF040304.

  The problem occurs only at the beginning, I tried with three discs, so I don't think that the disks are the problem. In any case, they are DVD + R DL Verbatim and support up to 8 x, while the recorder goes only up to 4 x for the double layer, so I think I'm ok.

  My suspicion is that maybe the firmware in the DVD version needs update... He mentions Hw 1.00, 1.10 Fw. Other manufacturers of laptop as offer updated firmware DVD for her, but I couldn't find one of TOSHIBA.
