Find Favorites folder on a PC hard drive dead?

My office is dead (register kaput). I have Firefox on my laptop. Assuming that the files can be recovered from the hard drive, is it possible to get the old bookmarks and restore it on the laptop?

Bookmarks are stored in a file called places.sqlite in the profile folder. You can copy this file from the old profile folder in the profile of the notebook folder, this will replace the bookmarks in the laptop with the workstation.

For more information on how to find the profile folder, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

You can retrieve more than just bookmarks, for details, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile

  • Each folder in my external hard drive and Flash Drives have all been replaced by cmd shortcuts by accident

I don't know how it happened but one night, I unplugged my external hard drive, and I remember vaguely the prompt being opened by accident after I plugged the external drive again the next day. The computer says my drive needed for formatting, that does not make sense because my drive was not related at the time. Well, when I reconnected my drive and restarted the computer, each folder in my external hard drive, I created in recent months, had been changed to shortcuts by the computer. The target location for each folder on my external hard drive and readers flash is (C:\Windows\System32). So whenever I click on a folder for documents, it will open in another screen, but I can't ever see as a folder only content inside, I need to find a way to cancel some setting in my computer that changes every folder I creat in a shortcut that reads-card: cmd (C:\Windows\System32)

    Hi Gordon Gekko.

It seems that the data on the hard drive is damaged. I suggest you plug the drive on another computer or another port on the same computer to see if the data is accessible.

If you take a backup of the data in the drive and try to format the drive.

You can also use your favorite search engine to download third party software to recover the data and then format the drive, so it's is more corrupt.

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. • How to copy a folder to an external hard drive with the same file on it and have it just add new files instead of replace all old already on there, as well as to add new?

I want to copy a folder to an external hard drive with the file already on it and not having to replace all the files each time. I just want to click and drag the folder to the external hard drive and have it add new files I've added in the folder on my pc over time on the external hard drive. It's annoying to have to replace alllll the files each time.

    Thank you!

A simple way is to use the second copy of Centered.com software. It is reasonably priced and will do exactly what you want. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • How can I keep my messages or folder on my local hard drive and not be an IMAP folder as local folder is

I was a little confused on the way Thunderbird handles the local folder. My local folder is not strictly local, but IMAP as my account records. I would like to be able to unload some of my old files on my hard drive and have them always accessible via Thunderbird. The question becomes greater now that I use a lot of server space, and since this is a business account that I would rather not remove them. I want to archive them. I tried archive but it is just another IMAP folder and so is my local files. Initially, I found having the local convenient IMAP folders because I could file emails from multiple email addresses into common folders and easily get to them via my PC or my laptop because they are IMAP.
All I want to do now is to archive some of my old emails, so they are no longer on the server. How can I do to make it. I thought it should be an easy thing but now after having spent a few hours looking for a solution and finding I'm frustrated. Everything I've read suggests that the local folder should be stored on my hard don't drive not the server, but this isn't my experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I use Thunderbird 24.3)

In fact, even if I go on once again, I'm more invested in what happens with IMAP and used space.
It is obvious, from some recent exchanges here records them are "local."

In the account settings > server settings.
Check cleaning (": Remove") is turned on and then exit and restart Thunderbird.

Then check your use of space on the server, after that Thunderbird and the server took a while to 'chat '.

My guess as to what is happening, is that the IMAP account is not erasing, so deleted mail is there, stay hidden because it is removed but continues to occupy the space.

  • Find Firefox bookmarks on the old hard drive to transfer HD again?

  • How can I transfer my favorites on an external/portable hard drive?

I know that similar questions had been asked, but the responses I've seen seem to be too techie or does not apply. The bottom line is I lose my cell phone next week and would like to transfer Favorites (and Outlook address book if someone who knows also) on my WD portable hard drive. Thank you!

If you go to view all bookmarks (Ctrl + Shift + B) or:

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks

There should be an option to "import and backup". You can export your bookmarks to an HTML element and save the file wherever you want. You can then import this file in Firefox on your new laptop computer.

The synchronization may be a better option, please see:

  • When I open Firefox I overload my profile. I uninstalled it and reinstalled on my external hard drive. When I open Firefox it recreated the ideas of folderAny how do I change the setting so that this folder is in my hard drive

most of the information is in my question. My profile on my home computer is limited. I would like to set up Firefox so it puts the profile and any other information on my external hard drive. I tried all of the optional parameters, but have not been able to solve the problem

You can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile, then click on the button choose to set the location of this profile on the other disk. You must specify a new (empty) location for this profile because Firefox uses the specified location and does not create a new folder. This allows you to specify an already existing profile on this player and Firefox it will use.

See the location of the custom profile > Firefox Thunderbird and SeaMonkey 2

  • Get the "Access denied" error when you try to play all video files in another folder on my external hard drive.

A couple of days, I've had accidentally one of the folders slipped on my hard drive in the folder above him and was presented with the "Access denied" error messages when I tried the two a) reglisser it out & b) open it from the record she had been driven to (which was not a folder of my making that is a jibberish titled folder containing two .vdm files it contains first)

After receiving advice of a friend, I did a restore from safe mode on the eve of the day when he moved and he did bring him back with all the files and files in the right place, but now I'm getting an access denied for each file, I try to play. Whether Real Player, Windows Media Player etc none will play.

Just to test, I slipped a .avi file in the folder to see if he was going to play and he did it can be the folder settings, I'm just hoping that all these files are now not corrupted and unplayable as I have some 180 GB of data in this folder in more than 1000 files.

    Hey HRolston,

What version/service pack of XP are you using?

What format of your hard drive is formatted to?

You can check the version/service pack:

    ·         Click Start

    ·         Right click my computer

    ·         Click on Properties

    ·         On the general tab, under System: you will see your information

For example: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

You can check what is the format of your hard drive is:

    ·         Click Start

    ·         Click on my computer

    ·         Right click on Local disk (c) (or letter that contains your operating system)

    ·         Click on Properties

    ·         On the general tab, next to file system: you will see the format of your hard drive (Fat32 or NTFS)

Can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • can not find restored files after restoring backup hard drive

I had a problem with my computer so I reset my PC back to factory setting. Before doing anything, I backed up all my documents/pictures in an external hard drive.

After successfully resetting my PC to factory setting, I ran restore backup files... I took me 4 hours to restore. Restore files has been a success.

When I restart my PC, I couldn't find anything my back upwards. I don't know that there have been restored as I have only 50 G to 200G left of my C drive.

I tried to look for documents, but I can't find anything.

What happened to all my backup files?

    Hello

  • Windows Media Player won't find the files on the second hard drive

Hi hope you can help with this.

I have Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12 on my PC.

My office has two hard drives, one for the operating system and all programs and another larger (drive J:\) for all my files.

All my audio files are stored in the J:\Audio folder, and this folder is also the default location for my music library (such as configured in Windows and WMP).

When I load WMP files in J:\Audio are not displayed in the music library.

If I right click on music > manage a music library and then manually delete the J:\ from the list of library locations, and then re-add it, WMP adds all the files to the library (a process that takes about 20 minutes).

BUT if I close WMP and re - open again, these files are missing once again.

It seems that WMP has a blind spot of my second hard drive.

Any suggestions for what I can do to remedy this?

    Thank you very much!

    Neil.

Well, I think I found a solution for me at least.

There is an answer on this thread who has contributed to:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-pictures/songs-do-not-appear-in-the-Windows-Media-Player/a6e80b2e-7367-4529-9dab-5a38ba4167a5?page=5

This is the fifth detention by djkel.

    This is a summary:

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.
    2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
    3. Select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    4. restart Windows Media Player.

One of the files that I had to delete not able to be removed first because "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" was used. I was able to follow the steps on this page to temporarily stop the service and allow the file to be deleted:

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-disable-Windows-7-Media-Player-network-sharing-service-wmpnetwk/

Then when I have opened WMP 12 database has been repopulated with my files... and all files remain when the 12 WPM has been closed and then reopened. I hope it's a permanent fix.

Not sure if this will help your problem, Jeff, but I hope that.

    Neil.

  • How can I find the original manufacturer of the hard drive 634919-001 for the 8540p?

I want to upgrade the hard drive on my HP8540p.  The machine comes with a 250 GB drive, P/N 595753-001.  I can remove the existing hard drive and easily see that it is a Western Digital WD2500BEKT.  According to the maintenance and care guide, the machine will support a 500 GB drive, P/N 595755-001.  But this reference has been replaced by P/N 634919-001.  I'm looking for the original manufacturer P/N 634919-001.  I can not find in any document on the web that is the original manufacturer of the 634919-001 or HP.  My best guess is that it is a WD5000BPKT.  WD5000BPKT is supported on the HP8540p?  WD7500BPKT is supported on the HP8540p?  Or has switched to another manufacturer HP?  If so, what is the OEM P/N?

You can buy a WD scorpio black Sata 2.5 "laptop drive one as you want, the 500 or 750 GB will work in this model.
