Find + replace empty editable content area

Nice day

I created an editable region in a model specially designed for the follow-up of the pixels that change from time to time, depending on the service provider we use for campaigns. That's what the code looks like:

<!-InstanceBeginEditable name = 'followed'--> <! - InstanceEndEditable - >

We need to update this empty region with content on several pages 300 +, but the base Find & Replace will do, as it is a region locked in the child page and so - I think - is not "findable". Aside from manually update each page with the tracking pixel (sigh!), there's an ACE in the leg of someone to help me speed up this task?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You are right that you can't do this with DW. Best bet is to find another utility to do so. Notepad ++ is an option

  • Using find/replace

Is it possible to use the search/replace on an array of text feature?  For example, I want to search my document for any type of [Text1, Text2, Rem3 Rem4] and change the style of paragraph on this text.  I know I could create 4 different searches, but since they all change the same paragraph style, it would be much easier to just use a.  Thanks for any help.

Yes, if you have InCopy CS3 or CS4, you can use GREP find/replace to do what you want.

    1. Discover all the stories, then you can find/replace
    2. Edition > find/change, GREP tab
    3. In find it this field, enter "text 1 | Text 2 | Text 3 "(sans les guillemets)." The vertical bar character means 'or '.
    4. Let the change to the empty field
    5. Click the button change in format at the bottom and select the name of your paragraph Style in the first Panel of Options of Style
    6. Run a search/replace to test

    hope that helps!

  • Using find/replace to find empty cells in a table

I'm working on several catalogues pages where we apply styles of our catalogues. The find/replace feature really helped do, but I can't seem to find a way to find an empty cell in a table to add a style to only the cells that are empty. If someone knows a way to do this, saving me a bunch of times and I would be very grateful!

    Hello

With GREP, this regex can probably help you: (?-m) ^ $

  • Select a specific area to convert a tab using GREP or find/replace

    Hello

I'm working on a very long list that always has a space to be converted to a tab. No one knows how quickly using find/replace or GREP?

    Example:

2068 characteristics of fallers vs Non-abatteurs in individuals receiving Services in a hospital-based home health agency: case report

The space after the 4 digits must be converted into a tab. I have hundreds of them to do, always a space after 4 figures to be a tab.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

Enter in the search field: ^ (\d{4})# (replace ' #' with a space!))

    Replace with this: $1\t

    (1) padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements contained in these divs have padding on their sides. This avoids any «mathematical model of box» Keep in mind, if you add lateral pads or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width that you set to create the * total width. You can also remove the padding of the element inside the div tag, and place a second div inside it with no width and padding necessary for your design.

    (2) no margin was given to the columns, because they all floated. If you need to add the margin, avoid placing on the side you're floating into (for example: a right margin on a div set to float to the right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule needs to be broken, you must add a statement of ' display: inline ' to the rule of the div to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.

    (3) given that the classes can be used several times in a document (and an element can also have several classes applied), the columns have received the names of classes instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar div could be stacked if necessary. These can easily be changed to the ID if that's your preference, as long as you don't use them once per document.

    (4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float those columns as the opposite direction (straight instead of left all) and they will return in reverse order. There is no need to move the div in the HTML source code.

The 'content' div's style to have 100px in height and visible from overflow. So the text overflows the div, but the footer "ignores" / ignore it is positioned after 'sidebar2 '.

Change the height of the 'content' to 100% and it should work.

  • GREP find/replace + paragraph Styles

    Hello

I'm editing a long document and have benefited from the assistance of the community already, but being new GREP Style, find/replace, I need to ask for additional help.

Below a screenshot of the script (original). Two blocks of text you see anticipated by the icons have have styles of different paragraphs. Icons are placed like custom glyphs.

Now, the last line with C2, 9, 14,... is the target of this post. They are buses of London and I created a paragraph with another icon. The copy that I work with unfortunately is as you see. Buses will follow «;»

Resulting to place a \r after the semicolon and assign the new paragraph style. The item to work with is (probably) the last "," before the registration of the bus. All entries have it in the same way, where a search/replace global grep should work fine.

    My attempts:

I used of a previous debate (? < =------;)) [^ ;] + $ to match everything from the end until the last semicolon, but then I found the problem preserving the matched characters and placing \r (using the (? < =-;). start at the beginning and stops at each point comma + space)

So question: how to stop at the first semicolon at the end and replace the space with \r to create a new paragraph?

Then, it is two question :-)

From my previous attempts, I noticed that when you replace the semicolon + space with \r, and change the style of paragraph at a time (from Rail to Bus) caused the Rail paragraph style change (logic) to the style of Bus. So I tried to say the paragraph style of the track "Following paragraph Style is style of Bus" (and not to change the paragraph style in find/replace), but in a way that no longer works.

Second question is: given to split the find/replace in two steps, how then transform / apply to newly created paragraph the correct style of Bus?

Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance. So far, the community has been great!

    Hi Antonio,.

If I understand correctly, in 2 regex [1 click play with Multi/find-replace our friend Martinho da Gloria]:

  • Find the empty entries after the data merge

    Hey all,.

I would like to know if it is somehow possible to search for empty entries after that data merge is complete?

The "Scriptures" are shown with visible hidden characters, as you can see in the attached screenshot:

    Screen Shot empty entry.png

Can I copy and insert in the Find/Replace window, but nothing can be found. I think that these aren't real hidden characters.

    Any Solution?

And please don't tell me to remove blank lines for empty fields before the fusion of the data

    Thank you!

  • How find/replace in italics in a PDF?

I would change all the italics in a PDF document to a different font, so they will recognize when I convert the PDF into an InDesign file. For now they are fake italics of an embedded font, so when I convert the file they disappear and turn into regular text. I will change the fonts once I converted so I don't necessarily have to keep a font italicized, just something different, so I'll be able to change them later to italics. I tried a few sentences and makes them Times New Roman instead of Janson Text 55 Roman and when I converted they remained as Times New Roman and I could make them italic font. I was wondering if there is a way to search the entire PDF file and do a find/replace mass rather than scroll through the entire novel and change them manually?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ahh, sorry. You do not have.

(in the context of a word processor as activity).

Do it manually with the tool "edit text and Images?

    Well, that't keep a mischief.

    Be well...

  • Find/replace the numbers?

I like very much all my numbers in small caps, but always manually go through and change them all. Can I find/replace all numbers with a number of small capitals? CS3/Mac

You can do this by using a GREP.

    1. go in the tab GREP in the FInd\Change dialog box find it what field type in \d

    2. in article Format change click on the empty area and in the dialog box that opens, go to the tab "Basic character Formats" and chose small caps of the case drop down. OK to the dialog box

    3. change all

You can save this query to other references.

    Thank you

  • Application updates in bold and in italics while doing a search/replace on the contents of merged data

    Hello
Wonder kind knowledgeable people if you can help me with a question find/replace.

I'm doing a fusion of data of book content in indesign, where my data merge file is a simple text csv file that is delimited by tabs. I have two things (almost like here) I would like to make to specific parts of the text, but do not know how to achieve this.

    -First of all, I would like to preserve the words/phrases of form 'italic', but it's obviously lost in a csv file.  Is there anyway that I can mark these words so a search/replace can make this italic of the word.  Im hoping that there is a solution that looks something like this;
for example.  Content of the book is 'the italics of the word needs to be adjusted.
Original content is modified to be "the word $Italic $ $ needs to be adjusted", so that a dollar sign encapsulates the word in italics.
Then I am able to merge data from the csv file and somehow make a search/replace words/phrases that are wrapped by the dollar sign.  So, do a find/replace all the words/phrases that satisfy this condition and then apply italic to all the words between the dollar signs.

-My other question is that I use the ' |' character in my text to determine paragraph separators.  I then do a find/replace after you import the text to replace all occurrences of ' |' for the paragraph separator (a kind of symbol $, a representative character in the menu drop down to the right of the change to). It works fine, but I would like to make a "BOLD" format paragraph separator so that it can better distinguish the separation of text sections.

But this is different from my problem "italic" above, since I am trying to apply a "BOLD" format to the character "change to", rather than something that exists in my original csv.

Hope I think, but I'd be happy to provide you with screenshots etc. (when I get home at )

    two solutions.

for the solution of italics, I would say that the OP has answered his own question with one exception - do not use the symbols dollar, instead use = or another character that is not reserved by GREP.

the solution I would use for italics would be a GREP search once the merger completed. Take a look at the picture to see what I did.

    the second solution: styles GREP.

This means that the text will have a paragraph style are entrusted to him. make a style and character called "BOLD" in this style, the only thing to change is located in basic character formats, set the bold font style. might even make the character another example cyan color is more easily strucure.

Then go to the paragraph style options, click on GREP styles and correspond to the following screengrab

the advantage with a GREP style is that once the vertical bar (|) is replaced, the GREP style bold is lost; and that means less post processing and not needing a second search of the text - it's all living.

  • Find/replace wildcards

    Greetings!

I have a page that contains the code that is generated by a program that adds a javascript image gallery, which works fine, but the customer has requested to NOT to display the popup tooltips coming from the attribute "title" image when hovered by browsers. This software puts the name of the image file in the title and alt attributes of the code, and I want to do is use a find/change command to clear all the attributes title, but so far nothing I've come with works.

I have literally hundreds of these images and two of each version small and large image... Since the alt tag is still there screen readers will be able to work, and we need not display titles that are not important...

I'm not familiar with the method of this kind of coding find Dreamweaver and web pages I looked me have not given much to work with...

Here is an example of the copied code from one of the pages:

    < div id = "vlightbox1" >

    "" < a class = "vlightbox1" href="data/images1/cimg4464.jpg" title = "CIMG4464" > < img src="data/thumbnails1/cimg4464.jpg" alt = "CIMG4464" / > < / has >

    "" < a class = "vlightbox1" href="data/images1/cimg5426.jpg" title = "CIMG5426" > < img src="data/thumbnails1/cimg5426.jpg" alt = "CIMG5426" / > < / has >

    "" < a class = "vlightbox1" href="data/images1/cimg5427.jpg" title = "CIMG5427" > < img src="data/thumbnails1/cimg5427.jpg" alt = "CIMG5427" / > < / has >

    "" < a class = "vlightbox1" href="data/images1/cimg5429.jpg" title = "CIMG5429" > < img src="data/thumbnails1/cimg5429.jpg" alt = "CIMG5429" / > < / has >

"' Y at - it a find which can be built that would release the titles of"title ="" '?

    Thanks in advance!...

As a backup, copy your page before doing so.

  • Use Grep to find/replace

I'm trying to find how to use GREP in find/replace of chage the formatting of a text which is a spreadsheet.

I worked on the GREP query "~ b (\d\d) ~ b ', which is a paragraph return, followed by two digits, followed by another paragraph of return

and then it is replaced by ' \t $1 ~ b ', which is a tab, found two numbers and a paratrooper returned.

What I have to do is change the query to search for ANY number of digits, (which may be delimited by commas: e.g. 23, 36, 48, 50), then replace with a tab + found text.

I guess what I'm looking for is a way for the query find "any text between two paragraph returns, no matter what that length", but I don't know how to do this. All of the generic options seem to find a single exampler (a figure, a character etc.)

    And you came so far

Repetition operators are? (zero or one), * (zero or more) and + (one or more times). You can also specify the exact number: {at least up to the}.

All of these operators are "greedy" by default - they match as much as possible. To to match as less as possible (which I'm sure you will come, sooner or later), add another? After the expression of repeat.

If this is a number, then possibly another (which will be always included):

    \D\d?

and what a figure, then zero or as much as 9999999,93856 million:

    \D\d*

    which is functionally identical

    \d+

And it is between 3 and 8 figures but will be forced to use the shortest possible match:

    \d{3,8}?

Having said that: a quick & dirty solution for your real problem is to find any amount of numbers, spaces, and comma:

    ~ b [\d,] + ~ b

(there are more here because otherwise it would correspond also to an empty line). The [..] a list of the hooks - it will match to any unique inside code.

A more complicated but 'cleaner' way is looking very precisely that for many, comma, space, number sequences - it is cleaner because it lines poorly trained (comma without a space) is fried!

(She also has another code - operators in parentheses. Look at their place in a good reference GREP - lost people are enthusiastic about Peter Kahrel O'Reilly title, because there on the use of GREP in InDesign.)

    ~b\d+(, \d+)*~b)

  • Using find/replace in projects

I maintain several RoboHELP HTML projects, and I have a global Edition (global sense in all projects, not one).

Is there a way to have driving HR a find/replace in several projects so that I don't have to open each one?

    Thank you

    Jim

    Hi Jim,.
    A few thoughts on this...
I used only the multi-fichiers find and replace facilities HR and experience with this I would be cautious as only see you the mode code and are to some extent "flying blind".

Second thing, if find you a search and replace method that you like, perhaps consider replacing elements with variables that can be more easily updated when the inevitable next time comes...
