Find the latest files saved in Windows Vista?

I just plugged my camera to the computer and a program automatically launched in any photos of the camera then removed off the unit.  I can't find where he copied my photos!  How can I find the pictures most recently stored in the folders on the computer?

Research what anyone in an Explorer window. The toolbar will change and a
Button named search tools will appear. Select the component search research
Tools menu. You can now click on the Advanced Search command where you can
Search by date.

  • Remote Desktop error: the system cannot find the specified file. C:\WINDOWS\system32\ < LANG_NAME > \mstsc.exe.MUI

Came across an interesting problem this morning. After starting my PC from various applications (OutLook 2002, Management Studio of SQL Server 2008, etc.). I was able to connect to a server by using Remote Desktop (RDP, alias). On trying to connect to a second system, I started getting the following error message:

The system cannot find the specified file. C:\WINDOWS\system32\\mstsc.exe.MUI

Will always be connected to the server, I tried to launch a second instance using RDP, but received the same error message.

I googled the error and found different solutions (the best solution to examine ishttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/thread/164d1e0b-51e6-4201-9dc2-3f4a0ccb14e5), however, none of the solutions seemed to work.

I tried checking the virus/malware, etc, but nothing was found. I tried to re - load the dll and the exe (s), but still not received the error message.

The next solution was to try to see what can be changed on my system (new programs, etc.). I noticed there is an update downloaded to my system (C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log): AutomaticUpdates content success install successful and Restart required for the following update: update for Windows XP (KB969084)... the update is related to remote desktop.

I rebooted the system, still not received the RDP error messages. Is I did a complete "install updates and shut down ', and then restarted my system that started working again.

For the record, here is some information on my system:

    XP Professional: Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.091208 - 2036: Service Pack 3)

    c:\windows\system32\mstsc.exe: 6.1.7600.16385

I wanted to just post this in case someone else runs into a similar problem...

    Hello

I get the following message appears when I try to start a remote desktop connection (the shortcut target is % windir%\system32\mstsc.exe).

It is on a Windows 7 pc with all the service packs and updates.

It was not available in C:\Windows\System32\nl, but after that I copied it on I still get the same message.

I even copied the entire content of the... \nl_NL folder in the... weather folder and still no luck.

Isearched the internet for more solutions but nothing has solved the problem.

    OK problem solved.

I ran the scan of the updated and all updates already installed.

I checked the list of updates installed and already had KB2592687, KB2574819 installed.

However, when I looked under installed updates, it showed KB2592687 and 3 others in English while I have a Dutch version of Windows.

So I decided to uninstall the updates English 3 so I could reinstall it again.

"Note that after uninstalling these 3, Remote Desktop already worked again.

Apparently, these 3 uninstalling uninstalled a lot more, because after a reboot, there were 10 updates available instead of only 3 that I uninstalled). And after installing them and another restart there was even more updates available. Overall, it took three update sessions and restarts all up-to-date again.

Although the list of installed updates again 3 updates in English, Remote Desktop works now. So obviously something has went wrong with one of the previous sessions of Windows Update.

    Hello

It seems that there are a few system files that have trouble.  One of them being mstsc.exe, I wish you find spyware or infection by the virus first, before you try the next step.  Please see the sticky thread in the security forum.  MVP offers some good advice how to remove these problems.

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistasecurity/thread/fa30853d-719a-4265-9e7b-9287567d31e3

If everything is clean, we will try a repair installation to replace the problem files and also to ensure that other system files are good.

The 'repair' installation (upgrade on-site) will not affect your installed programs or data.  Just make sure that you are already connected to your computer when you start the installation.  Do not boot from the DVD.

If the installation does not start automatically when you insert the DVD, run setup.exe from your DVD player.

    • When the Setup program starts and the install now screen, click install now.
    • Note When you receive the important Get updates for installation message, click go online.
    • Click upgrade when the which type of installation you want? appears

Please let us know if this solves the problem for you.

  • I have windows vista and when I click on a shortcut on the desktop I have a pop up asking what file to open it with. In order to open the file I find the actuall file.

    Original title: registry exe problem

I have windows vista and when I click on a shortcut on the desktop I have a pop up asking what file to open it with. In order to open the file I find the actuall file. This also occurs when you download the software, which makes it difficult, because the file is not on the pc yet. All solutions?

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type sfc in the search box, right-click to SFC. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7? I have Windows Vista Partition, I case these files through my Windows 7 partition without logging in there?

    Thank you

You should be able to (I'm virtually certain it's possible) If you have the appropriate permissions or property rights in your Vista partition to allow access of the user of Windows7 or users of Windows7.  It's the way it works with XP and Vista and I suspect that it is essentially the same thing here.  You may need to add the users to the Vista partition/folders/files in Windows7 using regardless of their process (it varies probably Vista so I won't bother posting method Vista to do).

The best thing to do is to follow the advice of Michael Murphy and get help from experts in the Windows7 Forums.

  • Windows 7 backup (the system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002))

    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
I'm NOT under a system dual boot, OR trying to save to an external drive.

I get the following error message after you run backup.
Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Audio Interviews Etc. error: (the system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002))
The Audio Interviews etc folder does NOT exist on my HD.  I know because I deleted it.
It would seem that the backup uses a master list to determine which files should be saved and where are these files.
I ran regedit looking for some Audio Interviews and did not get a hit.
I also ran sfc/scannow and without errors, etc. were found.  "... Windows resource protection did not find any breach of integrity... »
Where is this list and can remove Audio Interviews Etc. She?
Create a folder called Audio Interviews etc in the folder systemprofile seems a kludgy way to deal with this issue.
    Suggestions/answers would be appreciated.
    TIA

    Hello

I see that you have found an error after performing a backup. I'll help you with this problem.

As you already mentioned that you deleted the file, I would like to display hidden files and folders and check once more to confirm that the file is not present in the computer.

Make sure the show the hidden files and folders option is turned on. To do this, follow these steps:

    Windows 7:

    1. start Windows Explorer. To do this, click Start, type userinit.exe in the Search box and press ENTER.

    2. click on organize, and then click folder and Search Options.

    3. click on the view tab.

    4. click on the next option to DISPLAY FILES AND FOLDERS HIDDEN - click Apply - OK.
