Find the orphans in GB VMDK file

Hi all

I'm looking for help in modifying the script. The output produce currently vmdk size in GB.

Thanks in advance.

vm2014

I guess it's the same script you mentioned in the other thread?

In this case, replace this line

$row. Size = $fileResult.FileSize

with this line

$row. Size = [math]: Round($fileResult.FileSize/1GB,1)

  • Cannot find the specified device, path, or file. May not be the appropriate permissions for access you.

    Hey everybody,

I was running Windows vista professional for more than 2 years yesterday, I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled vista prof. (entirely new, different CD key). Everything works very well excenp for one thing - I had saved some of the programs and files on my external hardrive before formatting my laptop. Now, when I try to access these files I get the following msg-"cannot find the specified device, path, or file." You don't have permission to access them. ".
I am logged in as administrator.

Help, please. I reallly need the files.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey Jihirshu,

    It looks like permissions.

Try this on one of the files on the disk to see if it allows you to copy the files.

1 right click on the file, then select Properties
    2. click on the Security tab
    3. click on change, in the name box, type "Everyone".
    4. in the boxes next to the permissions below, put 'Total control' for everyone
    5. click OK, and then close the dialog boxes
    6. try to copy the file that you just modified.

If the works above, you must change the permissions on all the files you want to copy.  Normally, you can just highlight all the and follow the steps above to change the permissions on all files at the same time.

In existing documents change it with nothing chose to make it the new default document and select the text and change onece in addition to affecting the language to what you have already defined.

  • Want to know how to find the alias to a random file using applescript

Hi, I was wondering if I can find the alias for any file that I even clicked on using applescript.

I searched online, and there is not much that I can take some.

So, for example in applescript I "put fileToFind to alias (...)" but this alias depends entirely on the single user, click on the file. So I do not know this alias exactly, is there a way that I can put this variable "fileToFind" to an appropriate alias of the file I even clicked on?

  • Cannot find the default folder named temporary file where downloads get automatally sent to download.

I have an acer aspire one.  It stops on its own and won't stay on.  Sometimes it turns on but the screen does not do anything, but the backlight.  I'm on the view of web acer and found my exact problem.  I need to load the BIOS update and install it.  I tried to doload, but the file went in a folder called temporary files automatically.  I can't find temporary file anywhere to open the BIOS download. can someone tell me where is hid it temporary file that Vista uses to default downloads?
my name is tom.  Thank you

There is no default location for downloads - usually the location is selected when you click on the "Save" button and then you know exactly where it is.  I guess because you know the name of the file you downloaded.  We will do a COMPLETE system for the file search and then we'll find out where he went.  If it does not find the file, then download has failed and should be tried again (this time trying to pick the location where it will be saved).

To search for the folder C: whole disk in Vista go to start / search and type in ' or '. As you type, you'll see two hyperlinks appear just above where you type and we'll search everywhere.  A click on it.  Who will do a fast indexed search and bring up a dialog box.  Click on advanced search.  Click the drop-down location and find the C: drive and click on it. Check the box "include not indexed, hidden and system files (might be slow).»  Then click on search.  You will now search your entire hard drive to the specified file.  And Yes, this isn't a very effective way to search the entire disk for a file but it is how it is done in Vista.

If this does not work, then try to search for temporary files (you are of course on the name - it doesn't seem right to me) which is probably the name of the folder where it was sent using the same process as above and see if you can find it.  If more than one rises, see each one until you find your file.  If it is through Internet Explorer, and then see the following for the location (although I am not sure if this is the place for which you're searchinng): http://www.milincorporated.com/a2-temporary-internet-files.html.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • How to find the path to store offline files in Windows 7

Original title: storage for offline files path.

I am interested to find the full path to storage for my offline files. When I type "offline files" in my Windows 7 start of the search bar menu, I get a "offline files" window that opens, with the option "show offline files." When you click on this, my offline files appear in a window of the Explorer, but the full path in the upper part of the window is simply "offline files folder." I can't create a shortcut and right click on the files to breast does not yield their full path of storage.

    Any help is appreciated!

I'm afraid that the information above is not correct.

Offline files are stored in [lecteur_systeme]: default \windows\csc folder. If the system drive is c: then the location is c:\windows\csc

  • Error message "Cannot find the point" when deleting a file

I'm deleting a file using two drag and drop for recycle bin and do a right-click with delete.  On several occasions, I get an error message "could not find the point".  I scanned by drive for errors, and it does not solve this problem.  Any ideas on how to get rid of this file?

For what it's worth, the item is in my favorites folder, and this is the URL for a web page.  I don't know if the extra fact is important or not.

    THX, David

What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away. Once registered. I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem. Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)

    ex file problem: word.doc

    new file: word.doc

as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.

  • I can't find the "date modified" by downloading files to websites

When I try to upload files to various sites, I can't find the "change date". Usually, I have the 'update' so that the last file that I worked on is on the top of the list and I quikly find.

I checked on three different sites and each of them, when I go to browse the file to download, the "modification date" don't appear in the search window, and I have to type the name of the file, or scroll through the file to find.
I can't find the "change date".

See if you can right click on a column label to find add columns.   Necessary in Windows Explorer.

OK... found it... for some reason when I had it on large icons, he wasn't showing me it... i changed large icons for details... and when I right click I saw ' sort by ' and then 'update'... after I clicked on update he showed on the column.

My last OS is Vista and it's always right there, or I had to top of the window to do a right click

  • How I find myself with as many vmdk files (which are almost 320KO)?

I'm new at this; Please, be gentle .

I made a new Win 7-64 company VM Workstation 8.0.5. I asked a 60 GB of virtual disk in place with several files, and I found myself with 64 vmdk files (49 of which are 320 KB).

I did the same thing a few months (on an earlier version of workstation) and 60 GB of virtual disk includes only 10 files vmdk, ranging from 1 GB and GB 28.

Why the new VM do not end with as many files vmdk more and so much smaller?

    Thank you

    David

David, although this was not really necessary, because I had already explained the plausible scenarios thanks nonetheless for the supply of the parsed data (factual) hard.  The reason why you have 64 files in the same directory hard is because the virtual machine has a 60 GB twoGbMaxExtentSparse virtual disk with a snapshot, and it is 32 hard files (for each) x 2 for a total of 64 records hard.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with this and is a scenario quite normal and expected and because it is so absolutely no sense why whatever mfelker made such a statement absurd as, "it's simply imposible t have 64 hard files in the same directory." and you can certainly security ignore this!

I did a lot of things and I saw that there is a with 31 GB VMDK file in the data store Navigator. But I can´t do anything with this file

How can I made my VM works agais if I just this file and the file nvram?

    thanx

    Daniel Roggia

You must run on the vmdk file not-flat vmdk. However, in step 6 I should have been more clear, you need to copy the hard-flat vmdk files.

The hard file is the file descriptor of the data where, like the - flat vmdk is the file that contains the data of the virtual machine. Your items will of the hard file Virtual Machine and the hard file will include the reference to the file - flat.vmdk.
