Finder constantly go that have stopped responding

I have a MacBook Pro (mid-2014 model) under OS X 10.9.5. It was fine for a few years, but there are, all of a sudden a few days Finder suddenly not working properly. She will work for a minute or two vertices, and then it goes completely insensitive. Clicking on anything in the Finder results in a frozen screen will not be updated. Sometimes it empties, sometimes it is just frozen on everything what he showed at this time there, and sometimes, if you move the window around the screen, the Finder window shows the background bits.

Restarting the computer does not help. If I force to quit and restart the Finder, it works again for a few seconds, but almost immediately freezes again, so I'll have for the Force Quit/restart constantly to get anything done at all.

I ran disk check, found an error or two (orphan blocks, IIRC) and ran through the process of repair disk. When he was done, he reported that my drive now was going well, but it does not solve the problem of Finder at all. I also found a suggestion that I delete the com.apple.finder.plist file and restart. That did not help either.

Any ideas?

Hi cgiauque, please download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information.

  • Programs that have stopped responding are driving me crazy

Please help me in one last attempt make this usable computer until I have spend money on replacement.

I had a 1 year (see guarantee) Thinkpad E530 Windows 7 64 bit. It has a 2.5 Ghz Intel i5, 4 GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics 3000. I'm running MSE for antivirus. On paper, it must be able to manage everything that I do on a daily basis. The CPU (usually less than 10%) and the use of the memory of agreement, my hardware is apparently barely stretched by why I do it.

However, it is slowly driving me crazy. The computer is able to run smoothly in some applications (right now that I am typing for example), but any time I try to change gears by opening a web page or by clicking on a menu in MS Word, the program goes unresponsive for 3-10 seconds. According to what I do, this could happen every 10 to 20 seconds but seems to be worse when a program opens at the outset. May not seem like much, but after months of this, I feel like I spent years of my life waiting for this computer to "not blocked" himself.

I did a clean install of Windows, run diagnostics on the hard drive, tried to determine priorities in Process Explorer and twisted options in different programs, nothing done. I still often have to look at the small blue circle.

I'll run any Diagnostics you want, display information on my machine, you name it. If you can make this computer the stutter constantly, I will be eternally grateful.

    Thank you

    Bill;

This is probably not your problem, but it could be a part. If you leave a CD/DVD in the optical drive of computers, they should "launch" and be read to any operation involving the Explorer (aka file operations). This can create some "latency time" which makes your computer appear to "stall" before it happens on what you asked it to do. External USB HDD can cause the same effect to a lesser degree than their playing time is faster than an optical drive.
You specifically mentioned opening Word as problematic. Try to open in the start menu by typing winword.exe/Safe. Word opens in SafeMode without macros or add-ins. If the word snaps to attention, look what add-ins you have installed, and what you can live without. Disabling or uninstalling necessary add-ins you open Word as an administrator in order to get the privileges required for uninstall.
On a related note, you might want to look in ReadyBoost. I never use the card reader on my Dell E6410 (with a material similar to yours) so I got a 32 GB SD card and half devoted to ReadyBoost and redirected %tmp% and temporary Internet files in the other half. Now open any office application is instead of restoring from being reduced to a minimum opening the menu start. Note that ReadyBoost on a card reader or USB is more effective when you access many small files. There are many less improved access to a few large files. After initially installing a ReadyBoost drive, you will see an improvement and it gets better as ReadyBoost 'learn' programs and processes access you most frequently. Reformat the SD card dedicated to a NTFS file system also helps.
Do not confuse ReadtBoost with ReadyBoot. HTH.
  • Why do I get the message "a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the script now, or you can continue to s?

I have 3 windows firefox with several tabs in each, but the main (and sometimes others) gel and prevent navigation showing a box indicating
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script ends.

    "Script: chrome://fctoolbar841468a1d7f44bd384e6bb0f13a06c64/content/fctoolbar.js:1.
To stop the script? I think it's not to do with Google Chrome but FF model internal to web pages. Thus, a deficiency in the FF, inability to cope, but with what? As far as I KNOW, all software is up-to-date. I have restarted FF, restarted the laptop, but has not changed the FF problem. What is the cause?

This is probably caused by a toolbar that installs on your version of Firefox. Most of the scripts that begin with chrome:// are extensions.
I think that this is very probably the Nectar Search Toolbar , which raises the question, because it seems to be the only toolbar installed on your computer.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Community.

What browser do you use to access Web sites?

Follow the steps listed below, if you are using Internet Explorer:

Method 1: Verify that Active Scripting, ActiveX, and Java are not blocked by Internet Explorer.

    a. start Internet Explorer.
    b. on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. If you don't see the Tools menu, press Alt to display the menu.
    c. in the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab.
    d. click on default.
    e. click on OK.

Note: ActiveX controls and Java programs are disabled in the high security level in Internet Explorer.

Method 2: Disable the Script Debugger.

Perform this method if the problem only occurs in Internet Explorer.

    a. open Internet Explorer desktop Version.

    b. on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. If you don't see the Tools menu, press Alt to display the menu.
    c. on the Advanced tab, click to clear the display a notification of every script error box, and then click OK.

  • How can I find the images that have a resolution below 1920 * 1200 using search in Windows 8?

I'm trying to find images in a folder to have a resolution of 1920 * 1080, but can only find how to search specific sizes - what is useful, but not what I need.

    Any help is appreciated.

No longer think that it is-just try logic.  :-)

    Search for width and height.

Example - if I had a folder (with subfolders even) I wanted to find all moroccoin who had a lower width to (but not equal to) 1920 (which is what you say, to halfway anyway) then I'm looking for:

    Width:<>

If I wanted all the images to a width smaller than 1920 and height less than 1080, so I'm looking for:

    Width:<1920><>

(... which is what said you you wanted.)

Of course, who does not account turned images where width is now 1080 and the height is now of 1920.  ;-)

If I wanted that all the images that are less than or equal to a measure...

    Width:<=1920><>

    Etc and so on...

All of this assumes that images have been properly encoded with metadata, indexed, etc..

It can also take some time to process...

Works for Windows XP I think.

What you might see in a results pane:

This image is Windows 7, because that is maybe I was sitting in front of in time.  Should be very similar/same to search for files (FILE SEARCH is the key it) in point 8.1 of Windows...

Note that I added the width and height to the columns for easy sorting - heck, that could solve your problem here.  Go to the root directory (all subdirectories has included in this one you can photos on) and research of *. * and with the width and height columns add, once the search results show all the ions of files files - click one of the column headers to sort (say by width) and you will find a list of images in all of the folders located under him you started with a width of all together, etc.

But - you seemed to want to put the width & height together, then...

    Dimensions:<>

However, in my tests, it is less reliable than the width and height - as I am less than or equal to 1920 and height, it was whatever he felt like.

    May arise through this:
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4595-search-Windows-8-a.html

    Examples of search methods:

http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2010/03/Mastering-Windows-search-using-advanced-query-syntax/ (former article, always - pages - topical and valuable - in my opinion.  Using Boolean operators and properties mixed with the many things that you can search for makes searching in file Explorer Windows/a very powerful tool.)

Even if - when it comes to searching for files - I still live a reliable old friend:
    Agent Ransack

FileLocator Pro is the professional version (the version of cost) of the tool Agent Ransack.  Nice product, well worth the money as it if you do a lot of research files.

If you do a lot of mass rename files, I found a free software that is VERY easy to use and reliable/flexible for me for years: Advanced Renamer

Overall - for most people - the built-in Windows search features and even the ability to change of name no longer.  Here's a decent rundown of the AQS (AQS):

  • find the pictures that have not yet been updated with the point

The library brand photos view have had changes of development applied with a small icon in the lower right.  I conclude that the catalog stores a little marker so that each photo has or has not "yet".  But I can't find a way to filter or separate otherwise photos photos by this attribute.  It would be helpful, because after the importation of a large number of files I apply development in order ofearly aestheticism, which of course is random compared to the catalogued command.  As I do, I only look at pictures of candidates not already developed to find my next targets for development work.

If I missed a way to do it, please reply.  If this isn't the case, I suggest this for a future version.

You can try to use the Smart Collection to filter by fit and filter the library metadata (hit-key to make it visible at the top of the grid) to filter by date.
