FireFox 8.0.1 crashes regularly in special circumstances

Dear gentlemen/ladies,

I have a lot of tabs open in use, all the time, and normally it works relatively acceptable (not great because after a while crashes always FF). But recently, when I click on some labels, FF becomes immediately non-compliant with the mention of the typical system on this subject in the title of the window; CPU is entirely occupied by processes of FF.

In this case absolutely every time - no matter if I restart FF, 8.0.0 to 8.0.1, level restart my computer, whatever. The link in the tab that causes the blockage is the following (works quite normal in other browsers):

http://www.ZDNet.com/blog/violetblue/great-debate-postmortem-Kindle-fire-vs-iPad/847#comments

However, this is not site specific problem, because there is at least as another site with the tab that has the same effect. All other links/tabs on this site and this site ZDNet normally in FF work, nothing hangs.

The most interesting thing is that if I open that link, then new tab is created and no blocking occurs. But when I try to move to the old tab with the same link, it always crashes.

I can't close this old tab for this problem, because once I click it, FF redraws not even the window to show that the selected tab is now active. Immediately, it crashes.

Is there a way to cure this tab without killing my entire session? There a lot of tabs, that I need and open the new are not a realistic option.

Windows 7 hung error information (I tried to translate it into English):

Signature of the problem:

 Name of the event:	AppHangB1
 Application name:	firefox.exe
 Application version:	8.0.1
 Time stamp:	4eb4a985
 Signature of the hang:	9fa1
 Type of hang:	0
 OS version:	6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.4
 Language code:	1049
Additional signature of the hang 1:	9fa16842bce256ccc5f3b7a0ab70b173
Additional signature of the hang 2:	247d
Additional signature of the hang 3:	247d058fb4d4bfc8d1c54c566f26857c

Additional signature of the hang 6:	247d
Additional signature of the hang 7:	247d058fb4d4bfc8d1c54c566f26857c

Not sure if that would be helpful, but the Process Monitor utility returns only the activity of '' profiling '' of the process of FF when State of blocking/fully occupied.

I've upgraded to FireFox 9.0beta and the problem with the tabs that cause version 8.0.0 and 8.0.1 to always hang is now gone.

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    1. Open the Firefox Options (Preferences on Mac or Linux) as follows:

      • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

then select Options Preferences on Mac or Linux, or Windows.

      • In 28.0 Firefox and earlier versions, click on the Firefox orange upper-left button, then select the 'Options' button or, if there is no button up Firefox, go to tools > Options.
    2. In the window of Firefox Options (or preferences), click on the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    3. You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    4. Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

  • Tecra M3 crashes regularly with a sound strange fan

    Hello!

I'm new running (dec ' 05) Tecra M3 with Win XP SP2 and all the patches applied. The problem is that it crashes regularly.

The symptoms are the following: display image suddenly freezes, machine responds more fully while begins to make the nosises of the "jet-engine-like", i.e. to Monte and down. The only way out of the machine is reset. Today I have updated the BIOS 1.40 (initially he 1.30). And already had two hangings. :-(

Any ideas what could be the reason?

    Thank you!
    Alexey

    Hi Alexey

the hangings and the noise of the fan can be connected.
If a fact request the sponsor system to stop it might happen in some sort of loop that will make the CPU is enmeshed in this loop and the really hard work. In this case, it also generates a lot of heat, and so the fan will kick and work extra hard to cool the CPU.

So what does this mean for you? Well, first of all don't bother on the fan. He will do his job well.

On the contrary, trying to figure out if there is a single application or a process that is running when this happens. Try things out of the band down by eliminating certain processes and see if the situation improves.

Think if you have installed additional memory. If so, remove it and try working with the machine for a day or two.

    Hope to have helped you

Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.

  • How to fix Firefox 31, 0-1 crashing on the Audio-Api - for example on quizlet.

    Dear Firefox team,

Since yesterday (after the updates), Firefox hangs when it tries to play a sound. I think because of the Audio Api? It crashes on Google-Mail and Quizlet.

For quizlet, I found a site where they describe how their sound: http://quizlet.com/help/how-does-audio-work-on-quizlet

    When I opened the file audio-test firefox crashes instantly without an errormessage. Here you get the example file: http://a.s.quizlet.com/en.mp3?v=5 & b = SWYgeW91IGNhbiBoZWFyIHRoaXMsIGF1ZGlvIGlzIG5vdCBiZWluZyBibG9ja2VkLg & s = LAhrMA-0

Can I do something about it? Its really hard for me to understand why it crashes.

Hey again once, unfortunately I can't reproduce the problem on a windows pc and the console log is not very descriptive (at least for my level of knowledge).

If you can reproduce the same breaks down while you use firefox in safe mode, I would recommend filing a bug to the bugzilla.mozilla.org of this regression, so that developers have a closer look.

  • Memory usage of Firefox flies away and crashes despite Reset etc.

I use Windows Vista and recently, after he tried to update Java and Adobe plugins for Firefox browser last shot every time I use Firefox any open what really but especially if a video is open the memory usage keeps climbing and does not stop. Firefox crashes almost everytime. I tried the Reset, I tried to turn off and so on several plugins and others, and nothing has changed, but that the memory usage can climb higher and avoid crashing anymore. The fundamental problem of the memory usage crazy not stopped nor slowed down.

It starts at an average use 200 k to 300 k, which was normal, except if he had run for hours or playback of videos for hours could go up to 800 k. For now, thirty minute walk with no video and four tabs is 1 300, 000 k. I don't know what does. I'll try to uninstall adobe and then use an earlier version but I have done so many things at this point, I'm curious to know who else has this problem. I have not tested the safemode, but despite everything I need a lot of these add-ons to what I use my browser for. I do not understand why the use of memory keeps climbing even when I do nothing. I run a system scan for virus etc, nothing. I know that I have an older video, its pilots updated card and I tried to turn on the option acceleration on and out also. Why Firefox would continue eating memory?

The crash of the reports I receive look like this:
    BP-7cf4e751-66dB-49fc-8a05-083132130814
    BP-b680d967-eee5-44a7-a5e0-c1f422130814

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Three of the four crash reports indicate a correlation with the Ghostery extension. The precise cause seems to be indeterminate. Can you make an exception for the video sites and see that allows, or try turning it off for 24 hours?

Incident reports do not appear to involve Flash, but since Flash is so prevalent on the web, a little Flash hygiene might be a good idea until he moved to.

It is a standard orientation that addresses the most common questions. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:

    (1) make sure that all recorders/downloaders who interact with the Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or turn them off.

    (2) disable graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox and Flash

    (A) in Firefox, uncheck the box here and restart:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced > General > "use hardware acceleration when available.

    (B) in Flash, see this article from Adobe technical support: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

    (3) turn off protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)

In General, when an accident of app, or crashes, a record is made in the event viewer. (type eventvwr in the search) go into windows journal > application tab.

You are looking for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column)

Look for the application, the app blocking crash or anything related to the problem

When you find them write down the Event ID and source code and tell us what they are. I have a sneaking suspicion it will be event ID 1000 source 100.

Let us know if you need help

Hey guys, I'm so glad I saw this thread I have problems very similar to POS.

Basically, I just recently implemented a new system and installed Windows 7 above. This is where my first errors have occurred, getting an error of installation on the first try to install Win7. I had a look around the web trying to solve this and got through the installation of the second time around.

However, after having the computer for a week now he acted strange throughout various errors and a blue screen appears from time to time.

I get blue screens, IExplorer, COM Surrogate and Explorer Windows Defender-a stopped working, even my sfc/scannow was interrupted due to the error... This is my first experience with this type of problem and I haven't really found someone with a clue on this subject yet.

Until I read your reply, zigzag3143. I had a look at my eventviewer out of curiousity and it just so happens that it is full of Error Event ID 1000, Source code 100, with Source stated as Application and my Avira Antivir Personal antivirus software. It should be noted that prior to Avira I had Avast antivirus installed, so I don't suspect the usual antivirus issue.

Yes, zigzag3143, what exactly is this event 1000 code Source 100 all about? It would be so nice for a change, to get this resolved from the first post on the web, you know? Haha, anyway, I cross my fingers that you can crush it for me.

    Thanks.

I beg of you. I thought it was that but wouldn't you jinx. OK Event ID 1000, 100 source is often caused by a built-in virus protection app called adj. Dep, or DEP data, prevent applications (read virus) to launch in 'protected memory space. It is almost not necessary but that's another story.

He find. It is located in your system control panel > advanced system settings > Advanced Options > performance settings > DEP

-Default is MS apps only (I think) what ever he is set to change. If that does not cure the problem, you can even turn it off. There is a turorial here on this. http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/12...ble.html?LTR=D

Let us know if she continues
