Safe mode disables extensions in Firefox 4, and disables hardware acceleration.
- Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.
If disable hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Firefox crashes when in Facebook, it has only just begun this doing, I get (Firefox does not) at the top of the page. I tried in IE and have no problem. I connect using Lastpass.

Firefox crashes when I remove the message "Test Pilot"

As I rebooted my PC (IBM thinkpad T43 running windows XP), Firefox sticks a message on the screen, heading ' new study test pilot ' with the message 'test pilot 'Firefox Desktop Heatmap 2012' is about to begin.
I can't get rid of this message. If I click on the Red to close X, or the message "Details" Firefox crashes and I get "we're sorry, Firefox has a problem and crashed. How can I clear this message without crashing? Thanks for the info, John

Yesterday I received an email informing me of the latest beta of Firefox was ready. I have currently in progress (version 13.0b1) and can confirm that this solves the problem. I no longer get the message that has been obscuring the corner of the screen. Thanks for the extremely fast response... If you get the Mozilla Crash Reporter and rather get a Windows dialog box, maybe videos are somehow triggering an incompatibility with the driver for your graphics card. To work around the problem, you can try to disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics.

OK, so a couple of days, I got on Facebook to play one of my favorite games. As soon as the game started to load, Firefox crashed. It happened all the time since the first test, and well I don't want to have to switch browsers. I tried reset Firefox which has been mentioned in a past post but it didn't work until I tried to put a new design on the top of my browser.

Can someone explain why it is only on a Facebook app that makes it crash and how to stop it? Please and thank you!

Firefox crashes when I try to open a downloaded file

Whenever I try to open a file I just downloaded Firefox stops working. I get a windows "Firefox has stopped working" error message.

Steps to follow:
Download a file
Download blue arrow icon will blink to indicate that the download is finished
I click on the download arrow to open the list of downloaded files
I clicked on the file I want to open
Firefox crashes

I tried the following:

- start firefox in safe mode (still crashes)

I also tested in safe mode Windows and do not have the problem. According to me, indicating that there is another piece of software that is the cause of the crash, but I do not know how to identify what other software it is.

OK, so this I've not exactly "resolved" the issue, but I have a solution. I dropped Firefox and installed Firefox developer edition instead:

29 Firefox crashing

I had frequent crashes since firefox itself to version 29. I have Win XP SP 3 and hardware acceleration disabled and reset the browser. The program always crashes. Reluctantly, I installed google chrome as my default browser. I hope you can get Firefox back to a useful State soon!

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

Firefox crashes every time I try and open

After using Firefox on my laptop for years free problem a few days ago, he started crashing everytime I tried to open it, the web page opens for about a second then crashes and I get the dialog box crash report that what happens in safe mode as well. I don't have time to do any changes on my page of browser as it crashes in less than a second. I uninsalled and reinstall Firefox 3.68 and just downloaded the beta 4 to see if that would work, but same problem of . IE works very well and from there tried to charge dozens of websites on firefox that firefox is my default browser. As I said the site doesn't loads no problem but crashes instantly. Very grateful for any help

Verification of the accident report and the associated bug report, this may be due an index damaged in the database file that stores bookmarks. To test this situation, you can force Firefox to create a new bookmark file, and in the process, it has to import your bookmarks from a backup file.

First, you will need to find your profile folder, follow the instructions to search for a profile in Firefox 3.5 article profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data .

Once in the places.sqlite profile folder and rename it to places.sqlite.old, then try to start Firefox. It should create a new places.sqlite file and import your bookmarks from the last backup file. This should hopefully solve your problem.

Firefox crashes

After the update to firefox43.1 this morning (19 December), firefox is in constant crash mode. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 or 4 times still nothing does not. When I click to open it, a minimized screen appears with two 'new tab' button located in the upper part and the start of firefox tab page (3rd from the left).

This hangs there for a few moments, then I get firefox crashed and had to close the message. What happened today at least a dozen times. It worked perfectly until this last updated and I had to download Google Chrome
just to get in line... and it sucks. I really want to come back on Firefox... Please help. I tried to attach images/screen-dumpsters and file errors, but they do not load upward.

Hi, please try pressing the windows key + R and open: cmd.exe - in the console that opens the type in the following command: netsh winsock reset. then press on enter, restart the system once, and see if that would improve the situation...

Now, Firefox crashes only all the time

Firefox has slowed to a crawl... taken advice on the support page to delete and rename the file "places.sqlite" in Manager files in Firefox. Now Firefox only crashes all the time. guess my decision to go back to the Explorer was made for me... can not solve the new versions of FIrefox crashes, slowness, errors... now only breaks down and the "places.sqlite. old"file I saved is gone now, so cannot yet go back to it...

Also, and/or at the same time, could test you mode without failure of Firefox? Which temporarily disables extensions, hardware acceleration, and a few more advanced features of Firefox that could make it more prone to crashing on some systems.

Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
- Help menu > restart with disabled modules
and OK reboot.

Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

I have a few sites, where firefox is always crashing, surfing on the sides. On these sides, firefox crashes anytime. On Youtube.com, I can always reproduce that firefox crashes:
If I watch a YouTube video, firefox crashes anytime in the course of the video, and always if I select another video of the videos listed on the side. Firefox just closes.

I had the problem on older versions of firefox. some vresions don't meet the problem. AR the time with firefox, 39, 40 and 40.0.2 still has the problem. I've had in the past (during the months ago) the same problem with a 3x.0 of firefox version, before I installed the new operating system. But now the problem is back.
The problem arises also in save mode and with a new installation of firefox (also with new user profile folders). For the moment, I have no more ideas. Maybe you can help me. If you want more material od OS me information, please do not hesitate to ask me questions. I am sure, I have all the installed updates that are available. Maybe you have an idea.
My OS is Arch Linux, so I can also give you outputs terminals for diagnosis.

After browsing in the Forum of ArchLinux I found a possible solution.
After I try, firefox works so far. I think it's the solution for me.
The solution is:
Uninstalling the package "gstreamer-vaapi".
