Firefox does not remember passwords

My Firefox remembers a couple of passwords, but for other sites, it does not work. These sites are certainly not as exceptions (in tools, Options, etc.) and are not blocked by the site (passwords can be stored in Internet Explorer, Chrome etc.). In one case, we have 3 gmail accounts and Firefox will remember 2 of them, but not the third. With this 3rd gmail account, I did choose the option 'never remember this password' initially, but I now want to change that and the Web site is not listed as an exception, so I can't change it. How can I fix it? Can I reset completely the installation of Firefox password?

  • Firefox does not remember passwords on my new computer

    Hello
I just got a new computer with Windows 7. I was able to transfer most of my profile from my window XP by following the HELP articles about backup and transfer profiles. I did it with a removable Flash drive. My passwords have not been transferred, had neither my Add-ons. I can live with that, but now Firefox is not to remember my password. EX: EBay, AOL mail, etc. I have to sign all the time and type the password even if small Firefox window with the PASSWORD SAVE lights up and the password is supposed to be saved. I checked all your items in the record of the passwords and all settings are correct. I went in the window of passwords saved in my profile, it is empty.
Don't you think that something got corrupted in the transfer?
I have the cable for easy transfer to computer to another, but now I'm afraid that I'll have a double profile or just going for a little more corrupt if I do. I'll wait your reply before I decide to make the transfer with easy transfer cables.

Have you copied the signons3.txt and signons.sqlite in the profile folder?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: opens showing the file

It is possible that there is a problem with key3db and signons.sqlite files that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.

Rename signons3.txt and signons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

You can add .old files (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) names or move them to another folder to make it possible to cancel the action.

You must define a new master password after renaming or removing the signons3.txt and all the currently saved passwords are lost.

If that worked, then you can delete the renamed files that are no longer needed.

Do you hear the names and passwords in the password manager or do you mean that you are connected is no longer on to (remember to) Web sites after the closing and restarting Firefox?

There is a difference between remembering the name and the password in the password manager and a check box "remember me" on a web page.

The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and which is sent to the server.

If that "remember me" cookie is deleted or is corrupted or is not send to the server, then the server remember that you and you must connect once again.

Problem is... then I updated my Firefox, it does not save passwords. When I enter my login details to any website, Firefox ask even to save them or not. Sorry for my bad English.

    Hey aur1m4z,

Have you looked at the section of the Base names of users and passwords are not saved ? There are lots of good information in there.

If it's only a particular site, you experience problems with, you can also delete cookies from this site in order to make the site you not forget if you have created a remember me cookie by visiting to Tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies" that there could be a "don't remember" cookie for this site.

    Hope this helps!

  • On one site, Mozilla Firefox does not remember my password, but Internet Explorer doesn't.

Yesterday, I accessed my Bank Web site. I entered the account #, then the password. I got an error message on the password, even though I was pretty sure that the password is correct. I clicked on 'do not remember the password' and received the same password I had entered. I was really puzzled, but tried again. It still does not work. I then tried Internet Explorer after the advice of my Bank rep. I created a new password on Internet Explorer and managed to get the law through the Web site. Later, I tried Mozilla Firefox with the original password. Yet once again, the password was not accepted, but when I asked to have access to the correct password, they gave me the new password I was entered on Internet Explorer. I am very confused. Help, please!

    Hi Mez1115,

Once you have changed your password, the OLD password is no longer valid. You must use the NEW password to access your account, regardless of the browser you use.

Many issues of the site can be caused by corrupted cookies or cache. To try to solve these problems, the first step is to clear cookies and cache.
Note: This will be you temporarily disconnect all sites, you're connected to.
To clear the cache and cookies to do the following:

    1. Go to Firefox > history > clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is displayed) go to tools > clear recent history.
    2. Under "Time range to clear", select "all".
    3. Now, click the arrow next to details to toggle the active details list.
    4. In the list of details, see the Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything.
    5. Now click the clear now button.

More information can be found in article to clear your cache, history, and other personal information in Firefox .

This solve your problems? Please report to us!

    Thank you!!!

  • Firefox does not remember my cookies, even if I choose history does not forget and remember passwords for sites.

I choose to remember the story in the Privacy tab and remember passwords for sites on the Security tab in the Options, but when I close Firefox, it doesn't remember my cookies and I have to make the connections manually everytime I open Firefox.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

    • do not delete 'Cookies' and 'Site preferences.

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

If clearing cookies doesn't work, then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other files to present as cookie cookies.sqlite - journal in the profile folder of Firefox in the case where the cookies.sqlite file has been corrupted.

  • Firefox does not meet password when the choice of multiple passwords stored for a Web site

I don't understand, I seem to be the only one with this problem. I use Firefox on Android, and when I have several passwords stored for a website, the password does not automatically.
Things work very well when I only have a password for this site: load Web site and the password appears automatically with the user name.
When you have several passwords stored for a domain name, no password is filled, but you can choose between all the names of registered users. When I choose a user name, the password is not met.

    Expected behavior:
I chose a user name to log in with the password appears on its own.
    Actual behavior:
I chose a user name to log in with, but the saved password does not automatically, as if I chose a user name from a list of saved form data.

    Steps to reproduce:
    -Use Firefox for Android.
-Save 2 different user names on a Web site like for example google.com.
    -Load the website.
-Choose among 2 saved connections. -> Password is not displayed.

    I have two theories:

    1. If you use a master password and sync again, passwords will not be synchronized.
    2. What preferences on mobile you in settings > privacy > "password main user ' and 'Remember password' and what preferences on Office: menu Tools > Options > Security >"remember passwords for sites ".

Could be the password for the files are corrupt and not accepting does not change, I would like to delete (or move to somewhere safe) these files in the profile folder: keys.db, signons.sqlite, sign # .txt. Select help/troubleshooting information, click view the folder to open the profile folder, TB, exit and delete or move the files.

You can save passwords stored before opening Tools(or AppMenu/Options)/Options/Security/passwords / Saved passwords, that remove the password profile files will delete all passwords.
