Firefox is my browser, msn is my homepage. How can I get my favorites pinned to the margin, as they are with IE?

I want to change from Internet Explorer to Firefox as my browser and homepage and I want Firefox home page to show me my favorites whenever I connect (which Internet Explorer). I want also to the Firefox home page to show me activity in my gmail Inbox. I am running Windows 7 on my PC
Thank you

Press the Alt key to display the menu bar, then go to view-> sidebar-> bookmarks (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + B). This will give you a sign on the left with all of your bookmarks in, similar to the pin board Favorites in Internet Explorer.

If you want GMail to appear each time you open Firefox, go first to your Inbox, then drag the gmail to your Home button icon. (Alternatively, you can use the method described for several items: Options-> general-> using the current Page, and when Firefox starts: show my home page.)
