Firefox keeps asking me to open/download PHP file when she used to be able to display properly.

I use to be able to view local PHP files normally in Firefox with parts PHP not rendered, HTML elements are. Now he's asking if I want to open or save.

I tried FF editing options so that it presents a preview in FF, but it does not accept the changes. I cleared my cache and everything. I tried to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file thing, but I can not find the folder, in that it is. I tried deactivating/activating "prompts.tab_modal.enabled" in subject: config then restarting FF.

All are prohibited.

Web PHP pages load correctly, this problem only when I am trying to load local PHP files. I don't want to install XAMPP or PHP on my computer just to view the files them that I've never had this problem before.

In the meantime, I installed Chrome and it loads a local simple PHP file very well while FF asks me to save/download when you open the SAME file. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file

Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all the actions file.

When you click on the download link on GetFirefox.com, you should be asked if you want to run or save the file. If this situation occurs when you try to run the download, try instead to record and put the file on your desktop or in a similar place, where you are certain that you can find.

When the download is complete, try double-clicking on the downloaded file in the normal Windows Explorer (browse your way to the file from the desktop). This should start the installation.

If, in the Explorer window, you notice that the file seems to be missing the Firefox icon orange/blue, right click the file and select Properties. The image should look like the attached picture (except that mine is in Danish, but that is irrelevant) if saved correctly - if it don't look like this, would you please describe the content or attach a screenshot of the box. Especially what it says under "File Type" - it must be 'program '. If this isn't the case, will have to focus on what could be the problem here.

A bit off-topic, your Internet Explorer seems to be quite a bit outdated (IE 6, where the current version is IE 8), so I highly recommend that you try to run Windows Update to get your system up to date. Is it as a society (such as a thin client Terminal Server computer) system, this is not possible, and most likely, your system administrator will have to help you.

  • Firefox 28 tries automatically to download a file when it starts

I just upgraded to Firefox v28 and noticed new behaviors.

Whenever I run firefox, it now automatically tries to download a file of help from hp from the following link.

How can I stop firefox from doing this?

I want to thank all the people who offered a solution to this problem, I appreciate the time that other friends have made to offer suggestions.

I only noticed the problem after the upgrade to v28, but I don't think that it is linked to that.

I downloaded MalwareBytes AntiMalware and it ran. It found 2 problems. I deleted them and recharged v28 and now everything seems to be fine.

I could have some kind of infection, but it would be the first for years, since I run several firewalls and the latest Kaspersky and no one caught anything.

In any case, the problem seems to have disappeared (permanently I hope).

    Thank you all.

Firefox needs your consent to download large files.
Please, click ALLOW to continue with your transfer.

I didn't have this kind of problems before up to that new version, I'm so frustrated that I think really switch to Chrome instead.

And in case anyone is wondering, there isn't an icon request at ALL.

  • Firefox (yet) open several tabs when I open any PHP file

I tried all of the fixes suggested in your article, including removing mimeTypes.rdf, change the default browser for files PHP and my PC for malware analysis. The problem is still ongoing. Any ideas? Thank you.

Thanks much for the reply, cor - el. I've been teaching myself PHP for the last month or two, so I downloaded on my PC at home of Apache and PHP files are mine. In fact, the problem of multiple tabs started right after I updated Firefox to version earlier this week. The strange thing is that the same PHP files open perfectly fine before the update.

In any case, I found a workaround on www.bleepingcomputer.com. Instead of double-clicking the PHP file, which causes the problem of multiple tabs, I type the path of the PHP (for example, localhost/index.php) file in the URL in Firefox toolbar. The file works as before without having to open the tabs. It is not an ideal solution, but it will do for now.

  • How to open/download a file .java instead of open as a txt in a new tab in Firefox?

    Hello
I need to download/open on my computer a file .java, but Firefox does not give me a box 'Open' or 'Download' instead, it opens the java file as text in a new tab.

How do I download/open it on my computer?

I guess that you are referring to a JavaScript file.
Java and JavaScript are different languages.
    To avoid confusion, see:

If the server sends the file as a text/plain then Firefox will open the file in a tab if you click left and does not download/save the file.
In this case, you must save the file via the context menu or the file menu.

You will need to click right on the link and use "save the link under" to save this file directly instead of left-clicking the link.

  • Firefox keeps asking for password when I send emails

Firefox version 35.0. When I open Firefox and do pass on messages, no problem. When I write an e-mail and send it, Firefox asks me password. I am able to send and receive e-mail while open. If I close Firefox and open, it ask password when I send. Months ago, I changed my password to connect to Netzero.com (which made more secure). Since then, I had this annoying password request. How to satisfy the password login server for receive/send emails?

Is it asking for the password, or the web site of Firefox? The only time that
FF you will be asked a password is if you have the active master password
    in the Password Manager.

Open the Password Manager. There is a search bar on top of the
page. Enter the name of the site. Press the button view passwords.
What's the correct information? Note: maybe more then one entry there.

Left on the icon in the address bar. A display of site information window should appear. Select more information. At the top of the window, select Security. Now select passwords saved view.

Without explanation Firefox now opens a new tab when I try to update an existing one. Worse still, I have to click on the new tab to get the Update window. This happened after I downloaded the last download nightly (64-bit). Hope someone out there can let me know how to solve this problem, because it will force me to another browser if I can't solve it.

Thanks for the suggestions ideato and co - el.

I found a blog that hits suggested ' subject: config "in the address bar and then change"browser.link.open - external"3-to-1. It worked, but then some links do not open in a new window when they were supposed to. So I changed the value back to 3 and restarted the computer. • Could not open the .php file

You get what you pay for a W * A * R * E * Z site (and sometimes do you things that you don't bargain for, like viruses and other malware). PHP is a scripting language for web pages. PHP scripts are executed by the web server. This is probably not what you thought you were downloading. For more details, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PHP

  • Once I updated to Firefox 11, I can't open the pdf files. It's more the computer, snow leopard and lion and more than one Web site.

I've updated to Firefox 11 and now I can't open the PDFs Online. This has happened on more than 1 computer, using the two OS 10.6.8 and OS 7.0 and on more than one Web site. I tried to uncheck "block pop-up windows" in preferences, but which did not help.
When I use Safari to open the same file to pdf, they open fine. Everything worked fine with my Firefox until I did the upgrade.

I prefer to continue to use Firefox, but I can't understand the root of the problem.

Has anyone else had this happen as well?

Thank you, gentlemen, to find a "solution" to this particular behavior of Firefox. It is really curious that even if the screen is blank, you can indeed save the .pdf Ghost and then open the saved file to view. What is amazing to me is that this issue does not seem to be what makes the hit parade of the problems currently experienced Mozilla. Not everyone will be willing to do a research project extended rather than leave the ship for Safari, etc..
