Firefox opens with a blank page

Firefox is set to open to my home page (Mozilla Firefox Start Page) which shows the search with all search engine Bing page. However, whenever it opens TWO PAGES... the home page and a blank page "NEW TAB" on the top which offers to help me with a pop-up message that says "click on the + button and add your favorite sites. It's also occur EVERY time that a new window is supposed to open... my new information is displayed on the first tab, but the second tab (as shown above) opens on the top. I checked that there is no set of additional information in the link properties... It shows "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla. I also checked that no other toolbars are installed or opening. I checked the "Tools/Options/General Tab is set to 'show my Home Page' and that the Home Page is set to"Mozilla Firefox Start Page". It is a newly built brand machine with Win 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64-bit operating system. Please help me to close the blank page... I want to see when I click on Firefox or open a second window is the main home page with my search engine option. Thank you.

I tried and it failed. So, I went into SafeMode once again, and I clicked on the reset button. Yes, he did remove my themes and put things from scratch, but my favorites were still there. I also had to reset my preferences. But, he fixed the problem quickly and I'm back running. Thank you.

  • Firefox opens to the blank page, no icons, buttons do not work?

I updated Firefox to the latest version, but it was interrupted and I had to reboot my computer. Now Firefox does not at all. The menu bookmarks and all buttons add-on are missing and not doing anything when you click it. The browser opens a blank page. When I right click on anything all these options appear like play, watch the video, picture, ect. I can't open it in safe mode or refresh. I tried to restart my computer. I would uninstall and reinstall if I have to, but how do I get my favorites before doing this? Or a solution to this without having to do it would be great.

    Thank you!

First thing is of course to make a backup. Bookmarks and much more are stored in your profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data.

The sounds of damaged beyond installation assistance if Safe Mode does not work. What you describe with clicks behavior as there is a huge video above all. What I would try opens a new tab with Ctrl + T and see if that did anything. If the display still does not respond, or behaves strangely, I ran malware controls, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware#w_how-do-i-get-rid-of-malware. (Yes, all scanners, just a good idea isn't always enough)

Relocation is probably easier and faster than trying to modify and repair what has been broken.

  • Why didn't he opens with a blank page (as I put it in Options) more?

I had my options value 'show a blank page' when Firefox starts. It has always worked fine until recently... now it still reopens with some pages/tabs I had open at the time I last closed. I checked and the option is still set correctly. There was a similar report from someone who had changed in Windows 10, but I'm still in Windows 7. The other person was not a solution. I'm FF 41.0.1.

One of the strangely common reasons are that you have an optional settings file named user.js in your profile (personal settings folder) folder. Firefox uses the settings in this file at startup to override your preferences since the previous session. Unless you have created this file, you can remove it. The following support article has a section on how to check for her (jump on the suggestion of refreshment): How to fix preferences that will not save.

Note: by default, Windows hides the .js extension. So that you can find any file user.js and distinguish it from other files, you can disable this feature. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions

    A little luck?

  • Firefox opens with two home pages, my original PLUS the Firefox installed the update tab.

Seems that my original homepage no longer works, if you want to change my home page. Firefox does not remember to put me in the new home page and continues to open with the homepage of old, of origin, as well as the Firefox update page. Weird, it doesn't on my computer that stays at home. Help?

You may need to remove "user.js".

You can find it in C:\Documents and Settings\user\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

I think that there is another folder after profiles so you can end in there

  • The portfolio opens with a blank Page in the player

I've created a portfolio in Acrobat 9 pro Extended, but the reader opens the wallet with a blank (white). It started to happen with the last update of the player about 2 weeks ago.

It seems that the purpose of layout on the portfolio is set on a cover sheet, that I did not. I have to manually set the focus at disposal, then I can see the pages in the portfolio. What is the cause? Anyone know? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!

    Hello SEVP95,

This problem arose in Reader version 11.0.7 and 11.0.8.

This is fixed in the update quarterly fall 2014 Reader 11, version 11.0.9.

Please update Reader 11.0.9 version to correct the problem.

    Kind regards

  • Cannot configure FF to start with a blank page from today - now starts always with previous session

I have the Options set to always open with a blank page and until today, which has always worked. But today it always opens with the tabs from the previous session. I certainly do not want. I've upgraded to version 38.0 but this made no difference.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

Windows hides certain default file extensions.
Among them are .html, .ini and .js, .txt, so you can see only file name without the file extension.
You can see the type of actual file (file extension) in the properties of the file via the context menu in Windows Explorer.

The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.

You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: 'Open with'; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.

It is possible that there is problem with sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the profile folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the profile folder

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: opens showing the file

If you see files sessionstore-# .js with a number in the left part of the name as sessionstore - 1.js then delete those as well.

You will have to redo the App Tabs and tab groups after delete sessionstore.js.

  • I want to launch Firefox with a blank page, BUT when I restart firefox, it loads the homepage

I have reset start empty, but there is not.

So just to confirm, in the general Panel of the Options page, you set

"When Firefox starts: display a blank page.

And when you close the Options page and open it again, your bet is still there.

But when you close Firefox and run it again, it has changed to:

"When Firefox starts: show my home page".

There are a number of possible reasons for Firefox to lose your changes of parameters between session. Software that is designed to protect you against unwanted changes you blocks actually make changes sought. This includes Advanced SystemCare, and some other utility/privacy/security software with a 'navigation protection' or a 'protection home page"feature.

If you find that Firefox remembers not change between visits on the Options page: you can have a different problem, as a generally unwanted program named SearchProtect who should be removed from the Windows Control Panel or a configuration file 'automatic' which locks your start setting. After the last update Firefox on a machine Wnidows 7, Firefox opens just a blank screen (black). It worked fine until the latest update. • Firefox does not open to the blank page, but always by default is return to the Home Page.

I continue to reset Firefox (latest version) to open a blank page, but he continues to open up to the default Home Page. This homepage has a unwanted Firefox logo in the Middle, with a search bar under. I don't want to see it all when I opened Firefox, but can't seem to get rid of it. There is nothing in the Extensions or Plug-Ins that could cause this.
