Firefox opens with two home pages, my original PLUS the Firefox installed the update tab.
Seems that my original homepage no longer works, if you want to change my home page. Firefox does not remember to put me in the new home page and continues to open with the homepage of old, of origin, as well as the Firefox update page. Weird, it doesn't on my computer that stays at home. Help?
You may need to remove "user.js".
You can find it in C:\Documents and Settings\user\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
I think that there is another folder after profiles so you can end in there

There is an extension or two or a combination of extensions that appear to be originally in Firefox 6.0.2. One that has been mentioned is TabMix Plus.

havig problem with an additional opening with my home page start page
When I open firefox, my home page opens and then a second page opens. This second page does not reveal a url and contains several buttons to select sites like facebook. Also, I get a mobile pop-up window down on the bottom of my start page advertising coupons and discounts. I'm not one of them to go. It's boring. Firefox opens with a blank page
Firefox is set to open to my home page (Mozilla Firefox Start Page) which shows the search with all search engine Bing page. However, whenever it opens TWO PAGES... the home page and a blank page "NEW TAB" on the top which offers to help me with a pop-up message that says "click on the + button and add your favorite sites. It's also occur EVERY time that a new window is supposed to open... my new information is displayed on the first tab, but the second tab (as shown above) opens on the top. I checked that there is no set of additional information in the link properties... It shows "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla. I also checked that no other toolbars are installed or opening. I checked the "Tools/Options/General Tab is set to 'show my Home Page' and that the Home Page is set to"Mozilla Firefox Start Page". It is a newly built brand machine with Win 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64-bit operating system. Please help me to close the blank page... Thanks for posting the details of your system. I'm skeptical about the "CompTool0234 Community Toolbar". Could you disable some add-ons and see if that helps.
On this tab:
Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Plugins category
Disable «Conduit Plugin»
On this tab:
Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category
Disable the CompTool0234 community toolbar.
Then very probably a link will appear to restart Firefox to make the change. Does make a difference?
