Firefox Password Manager don't ask if it should save passwords - RESOLVED

I used both Keefox and Secure Login at the same time. Probably the wrong thing to do, but they don't seem to be in conflict. However, I have no doubt eventually will go with only Secure Login (in collaboration with the FF password manager).

For the most part, Secure Login works well because I have many saved PWs (and none listed as exceptions, or I'm doing private browsing); and, where appropriate, get framed gold deposits that fill up when you click the Secure Login key on the toolbar. However, I just discovered a site of Wells Fargo (https://www.wellsfargo.com) I have to sign in the fact that I think the set-up of an account. However, Manager of PW FF don't ask me if I want to save the name of user/pw? In other words, after you have entered the user name and pw, FF password manager is not asking that these fields do not forget. Cannot understand why not because he asked me to save other sites PWs? BTW, I've disabled Keefox, didn't erase cookies, but still fresh, started no PW guest record.

EDIT: Got the answer here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38 & t = 2370305

You can remove autocomplete = off with a bookmarklet to register the name and the password if the site prevents Firefox through autocomplete = off

It's a Facebook problem - because they changed during the display of the slideshow of pictures you can save.

  • Download csv file don't ask where to store the file

Firefox is set to "always ask me where to save files.

I have a WebService to download a file download.csv via a POST request (must be a POST request and not a GET request due to data problems).
I use jquery.fileDownload.js on the Web site to achieve. When you press the download button, the 'Opening download.csv' screen opens with the option 'Save file' preset. After pressing OK, a window of the Explorer must take place in order to choose the location of the file. But it is NOT shown. Instead nothing more happens.

    What could be the problem?
P.S.: in other browsers it works fine.

    Hello gnittala,

    Thanks for your reply.
    1 MIMEType is set correctly.
    2. When you use this configuration, the file is downloaded correctly.

Now I discovered, what was the problem:
the jquery.fileDownload.js plugin was removing the iframe internally used too early, before the Explorer window could not be displayed. Keeping the iframe longer (at least until the Explorer window is displayed, or more easily reuse in next download call) solves the problem.

  • It don't seem to be a way to import or export any usernames and passwords in the Firefox password manager. I would like to have a printed copy of this information because I'm decrepit and forget about these things.

Has no way to copy or export of username, passwords, or Web site in the Firefox password manager.

A sure way, although primitive, is to open the window of your user name and passwords and take a screenshot of it, then with a bit of touch up paint you can print as image.

This is by far the worst way to do it, but it is also quite easy and foolproof.

Use it as a last resort.

  • How can I trust firefox password manager

Firefox password manager is safe? Can you give us some information about it? Focus mainly on: how is it difficult to crack passwords on firefox password manager to a hacker? How our data is stored, i.e. the type of encryption, both in my computer and your server?

The names and passwords stored in logins.json is encrypted with an encryption key that is stored in the file signons3.txt.
The master password adds an extra level to this encryption.
If you do not use a master password, then having access to key3db and logins.json is not enough to have access to the encrypted names and passwords by placing the two files in one Firefox profile folder.
Make sure to use a password is strong enough, for example at least 10 or 12 characters and a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols that can be found via a dictionary search for combining words and you should be safe.

  • Firefox don't ask to save tabs on exit and display them when restarting.

Close a FF4 session with several tabs, don't ask me to save the tabs and so they do not show again on restart.

The other options are checked there.

    I checked in Tools-Options-Tabs

  • Why Firefox «ask» when I checked the box 'don't ask me '?

When you try to open media as something of an email, Firefox always shows me the window asking me to check which software program to use when opening the file, even though I checked what, to use and the box 'don't ask me. " I also checked the box 'always use this program ". It is very annoying.

    is always

This occurs because the file that you download is an accessory, so Firefox will always ask you what you want to do with the file.

This is a security feature, since attachments can often contain harmful files. So there's no way to automatically open an attachment without asking you first. This box can be confusing when it appears in a download of attachments, given that the setting does not apply to the attachments.

However, if I open a second window when you exit this second window, he asks, but the main window does not work...

    so weired.

may be a bug in b10.

    any help is appreciated.

This feature has undergone many changes. You can select 'Restore last session' in the menu background to retrieve your tabs. See bug 592822 for more information.

Some other bugs that affect this feature: 593421 and 628080

You see the behavior "weired" because Firefox behave differently when you close a window, and when you quit the application (I know, it's confusing). See comment 28

  • After using groups of tabs earlier today, now whenever I close FF with more than 1 open tab, FF don't ask me to confirm before closing

After using groups of tabs earlier today, now whenever I close FF with more than 1 open tab, FF don't ask me to confirm prior to closing. FF always asked me to confirm in the past and no settings have been changed before you try tab groups. Then when I open FF it again all the tabs I had open are still there. I tried refreshing FF and erase history, but that did not work. It's almost as if FF think windows and tabs I have open are a group of tabs, and he won't let me get rid of this group. How to stop groups of tabs now that I have them? Or is there something else? None of this was going on until this morning, I played with tab groups. I was curious what it was - it's going to make me kill one of these days lol.

Note that using "show my windows and tabs from last time" as the start setting will also prevent Firefox to display an alert when you close the window.

  • Firefox Download Manager reacts unexpectedly.

I can't download the files correctly using the default Firefox Download Manager. The affected extensions are:

     1. Download Status
     2. Download Statusbar
     3. DownThemAll (although since this doesn't interfere with the default, I don't see what this might have to do. Included for completeness).

    Now to the problem:
Firefox displays the weird behavior every time as downloading a file:

     1. The download completes, and it keeps scanning the file with an antivirus for indefinite periods (it never ended so far) even with tiny text files.
     2. During this period of antivirus checking, if I download another file, the old one gets magically deleted.

I'll disable add-ons relevant and post back the results.

See "Antivirus disable in Firefox preferences - Windows."

Try to set this pref to false on the topic: config page.
